So... Some very small rumours Messi might be bound for Chelsea. Not that there's any substance to them but lets muse for a minute.

Messi's 2 main sponsors are Adidas and Turkish Airlines. Chelsea just signed a new deal with the same 2 companies. Coincidence, maybe?

There's rumours going around that the loan system we have may be abolished. If that ever was to happen we could cut the whole thing loose and sell all of the players we've brought in and loaned out. There is an estimated £130- £200 mil in value if all of those players were to be let go in an allout fire sale.

Could this be part of a master plan to gain enough funds to make a massive purchase sustainable without crippling our team financially? Was this always part of Romans bigger goal to bring the very best to Chelsea? What do you think?
Does he track back tho?
+1
it will be insane to fire sell all our loan players to buy Messi, every club has loan system that works perfect for them, ours works perfectly for us and we should continue it, if Adidas and Turkish Airlines wants to bring messi to Chelsea they should do it for their commercial purpose. although the rumor is far from reality.
Messi is great but he's not worth selling all our loan players to sign him just like @Obinocarlo has pointed out. He is nearly at his point of diminishing returns which should kick in in a couple of years. Also why put all your eggs in one basket?
http://rt.com/news/208851-catalonia-independence-election-reform/

if maybe Barcelona or other Catalonian clubs join their own league, they won't be able to generate profit as much as before and they might be forced to sell some of their players.
He's getting paid about £300,000 a week. And we will be able to reach an agreement with a better offer.

We would have to sell Schurrle, Salah, Moses, Marin and get about £50 to cushion the transaction.

If we do get him, that's some fantastic transfer.
Its far from being a reality. And we're not the only team that might draw his attention. This is only a pipe dream. Far from being fruitful news. I am just combining a few mumblings that have very little actual facts attatched to them.
Thats some conspiracy theory right there, lol.
Jerome Champagne is the only other person to run against Blatter for the next vote. He's not a fan of our loan system.

Which is why it may have to be dismantled at some point. I'm not saying just sell everyone we have. We may be forced to do it. For now, we have done extremely well finding a completely new way of running a club by mass buying young players.
For this reason, I really want EPL to allow the teams to have junior teams in Championship league. All other top teams have their own B teams to test young players and keep them on form, it's just not fair that EPL teams don't have that space to test on their own.
Horrible week for German teams in Europe
Great week for English teams, well 3 of them...
@c61...I think all english teams had a good week. Ludowig are a good team and Liverpool did well to park the bus and get a draw against them
They all did well..Liverpool we're going to have to go all out in their final game any way
Lamps top 11

That team
suprised Lamps didn't put himself in it

It has Vince the prince, the clockwork of the best Barça ever (Xavi-Iniesta), and of course Messi who Frank Lampard hails as probably the greatest player in the history of the game! My respect for Lampard has taken yet another leap :D

Seriously though; putting several players in there who were once fierce opponents is already a testament of his great humble character. But to pick them over yourself when you're Frank Lampard is amazing.
+5
Lamps would make a terrible manager. Messi and Ronaldo on the same side of the pitch? They'd kick each other to lumps.

And who takes home the Ballon D'or trophy? There'd be a Mexican standoff every year. For god's sake, Frank! Think of the stress poor Drogba will be under trying to mediate that war.
Urghh like seeing your ex girlfriend in her new boyfriend's shirt...

^And being top of the league at the same time, happy that everyone's happy ^_^

Hazard vs Sunderland away last year. Probably one of his top 3 performances for us. Just incredible.
+1
Without a doubt. That was his best performance last year and maybe ever in a blue shirt. He's carrying the team with most successful take ons and dribbles and its a bit further from goal than he may be used to. I'm curious to know how many times he's been the second last to pass before a goal was scored? He may not be way up in goals and assists but he's literally the tops in Europe in almost every other notable stat.
+1
What about home to Newcastle where he got that beautiful hatrick? I thought that was his best performance. But this one was the most important one.

Why can't be finish like he did in this game? I see the same technique and the same decision of ball placement (to the far corner and middle of the net), but he just can't get any hight and pace on his shots.

But good thing is that he is shooting. Hoepfuly, he finds his sweet spot.
Hazard's best performance was against Newcastle
he was incredible against Sunderland, hopefully another brace

"The bus is certainly not parked, and Mourinho's Chelsea team has been augmented by a chillingly efficient midfield and attack, with Fabregas and Costa starring."

I just came reading this line.

seems like ages ago when the football "gurus" were all vigorously selling us the idea that Fabregas wouldnt fit in at Chelsea....so glad they've been proved wrong.
He's not a Mourinho type player :D
@Theo

But can he do it on a cold night in Stoke?
+1
So another invincibles? I know many are saying it's still just the beginning of the season but I don't see Chelsea losing to any of the "top" team with United, Arsenal and Liverpool struggling. The return leg of the City game is at the bridge so unless there's an upset in between, I really think Chelsea can do it. Mourinho has done wonders and I actually like watching Chelsea the past couple of seasons. Good luck and take care of Fabregas :')
+2
Still early but appreciate the kind words hopefully we can take care of business
We don't lose to top team. We tend to slip up against mid table teams. I hope this season, it won't happen.
yeah i don't expect any of the top teams to do the job. i think it will be a result of complacency against the smaller clubs..
Early days,early days
More than two thirds of the season left. Lots of games to miss a step. We're good but only the test of time will tell.
Like Mourinho said, "The bad result is waiting for us. It will come. Till that time, we keep going"
This club has got everything to achieve invincible status, quality players and an incredible smart bullish manager. No pressure..........
Most likely it won't happen at SB, but there are so many tough away grounds we still have to play at. It will be difficult to even finish this year unbeaten with Sunderland, Newcastle and West ham in our way.
If we play like we did against Schalke at these away grounds, we will have no problems.

I don't remember us coming out so focused and intent on scoring first.

We normally feel out the game and slowly build up to pressure or wait to counter. But over in Germany, the team had one thing on the mind and that was to kill the game. It was great.

Don't think lower table teams can hang with that kind of intensity mixed with quality for 90 mins.

The only thing that will be our downfall is end of season. If we have league won, and are still in CL, the team will lose the consistency in team selection. It happened to Bayern last year when they won the league too early.
Hopefully Hazard form doesn't dip in mid season like always and Oscar can stay fit and play at this level we are so lethal with in form Oscar really hoping this is his breakout season
If liverpool get into europa league they'll suffer more in the league imo. Sunday games every week with 2-3 days rest etc.. we all know alota teams suffer after a match in europa league
with the great positions they get into Willian and Hazard should be bagging in more goals. That's the next step in their development. I like how Hazard has been taking more shots lately, he just needs to work on his placement. Willian needs to do more of what he did yesterday, shoot on sight of goal.

This is such a strange season, I don't remember a game where we were in danger of losing. ktbffh

and good to see Rami getting a goal

Ethio being very positive, so you know it's a good season for Chelsea
