Beating United will only be a confidence-boost. We should not confuse who's the real enemy.
The next best team lost today so we have nothing to worry about. I just don't want to see a bad call affect the outcome of the game. Beyond that, may the best team win.
Barcas tactc for defending corners:
Fall over and hope for a free kick lol
Costa trained with the team earlier today and the chances of him starting are looking good.

+1
Real could have scored 6 goals, so many screwups on the counter.
+2
It's soooo frustrating to watch.
CR7 decided not to be selfish
+4
Yeah and his passing is definitely not one of his top qualities.
Lol park that bus Madrid. When Chelsea does it we are the worst, When anyone else does it,Iit becomes beautiful precision football, lmao.
^ no offense bro were you watching the game because I dont see anyone talking about madrid parking the bus mate. they play wonderful counter attacking game I think fifa 15 is stick on ur head
+9
yep they werent playing behind the ball they were actually playing from the back and countering every chance , the parking the bus comments will stop when it stops bothering Chelsea fans so much
They played full defensive to close the game.
you don't have to park the bus against this Barca team; they couldn't string together any passes to save their lives.

I mean, how many times have you seen Ineista give the ball away as if he was allergic to it?
I love the term 'parking the bus'. It's not Chelsea fans who loathe the tactic. It's the teams we beat using this strategy. Barca, Bayern, Arsenal, Liverpool and City fans have all blamed us for ruining football at times. Claiming open football is the purest form of the game. And that defensive football is an abhoration.

We should all embrace it as CFC fans. It's part of our identity like it or not.

Edit: keep in mind When I say The namws of clubs I don't mean an entire fanbase. Mearly some of it's more vocal members.
+5
carlo subbed Benzema and Isco for Kedira and Asier in around the 85th minute he kept an attacking team on the pitch for longer then most expected
+1
Lol,apart from first thirt minutes, which time we were better, they dominated us all evening.rm n bayern seems currently best team in the world..
+1
No way in hell did they park the bus until the final minutes. Surprisingly, Real were dominating in possession and chances, and countered when given the chance.
I was watching the game where Madrid was getting 10 behind the ball and breaking quickly. They were not dominating possession either, even Ronaldo was defending.Am not saying it wasn't brilliant football,am saying it's the same thing Chelsea does against big teams. You can only play counter attacking football if you set out to defend.
What game was that? This game was alot different than previous El Classicos. Barca dominated in beginning, then it was all Madrid. Barca would have had more chances to counter if they actually had more athletic players. Madrid's midfield is way too good, and intercepted many of Barca's plays. They didn't just counter attack. And just ignore the people that complain how Chelsea plays.
Redzone
When Barca pushed the full backs up RM did go behind their half but its Barca, RM didn't put all men in the box
they played quick counter attacks
this is the worst Barca team I think I've seen since...I don't know...well before 2006.
they are better then last two season's and give Suarez few weeks to get up to the pace of La liga I think they will be lethal going forward and defensively stronger
+3
Are you serious?! Today was the first game in 9 La Liga matches that Barca conceded a goal. Ancelotti had his tactics spot on. Once Saurez gets a few games under his belt they'll be a force to be reckoned with. Not even close to Barca's worst team IMO.
Lol people seem to say this for fun now.
@Chelsea61

their opening fixtures were a joke. they were as easy as the Man United fixtures; difference is, Barca don't lose to lower level teams.

The two good to great teams they played, PSG and Barca, they were thoroughly exposed.

Did you see their back four? Pique? Alves? Mathieu at left back? lmao.

Not to mention as well past it Xavi, and Ineista having a shocker.

If people think this Barca teams has anything on the 2007-2011 Barca, they are insane.

Barca will struggle this season in the big games.
No where near worse mate.Carlo is a better coach than lucho atm and he set up their tactics perfectly.once Suarez gelled n iniesta back in form,we gonna become very best.
Mathieu IS a left back originally. You don't actually know anything about Barca do you?
@Tanmay

just because someone can play a position, doesn't mean he's suited to play it in every game; having him out there was a mistake against a team playing on the counter.
Messi, Neymar, Suarez in any combination up front is probably Barca's strongest front 3 ever.
Lol you don't get it mate. He's played there all his life. He's a better left back than he is a centre back. He's a better defensive left back than Alba. If defending against counters is what you want, then you want Mathieu at left back.

And by the way, Madrid was not playing on the counter! Give them some credit. They only starting playing counterattack once they were 2-1 up, and at that point we looked exposed because we were desperate to score. Madrid won this game by dominating us while getting to 2-1, and that had nothing to do with counters.
@Chelsea61

Falcao, RVP, and Rooney up front is probably United's strongest front 3 ever.

anyways, Barca were never about their front. It was always about their midfield. Xavi, Ineista and Busquests. That was what made Barca, well, the greatest club team ever. Those three pretty much strangled every team to death; then Messi came along and killed the poor bastards choking to death from having to chase shadows.
@Tanmay

I know Alba isn't better defensively; but he's got pace. You need pace on the wings against Madrid.
^ I understand where you come from.I too agreed,we lack much creativity in mid field compared to old teams.but that certainly because Andres and busi are in deep s**t form currently and age got better of xavi as well.so I believe they will pick up soon, then our creative problem will be solved easily.
Lol this just keeps getting better. Mathieu is actually the fastest man in the squad.

http://www.mundodeportivo.com/20140916/fc-barcelona/mathieu-el-mas-veloz-de-la-plantilla-cule_54415073117.html
I was impressed with Mathieu, one of Barcas better players
Marcelos pace is real
His defending is shite as well.
+1
he played well today
3-1 to Real
lmfao! Barca self-destructing. how strange watching them make awful passes. long gone are the days when the ball used to be on ropes. it's a shambles!
Hazard needs to watch and learn from Neymar. Considering the great positions he gets into, he needs to start becoming a consistent goal scorer. That's how he'll get into the 'top 5' list he spoke about
+2
Neymar needs to learn from Hazard how to be more of a team player, track back to help the defence and how to take tackles on the chin instead of beibg a diva( u can read that as diver if u want).
+4
arent those things mourinho criticizes hazard for every other game?

besides neymar is a forward, not midfielder, in barca's system. it's like saying messi should track back. i think neymar's already got 10 goals this season. there's a 3 man midfield behind neymar to do more of the defensive work.
SIS...if u know that much then there's no need comparing both players in the fiest place. And when was the last time u heard Mou complain about Hazard not tracking back? That is so last season mate.
+3
I agree with SiF hazard needs to score more goals.Mourinho said he needs to know when to defend amd when to attack. But honestly you hardly see Messi, Neymar or Ronaldo tracking back.Hazard shouldn't be burden with defending, he is an attacking mid he should be scoring goals. It's one of the reasons Willian doesn't score more.
go look at his interview with sky sports. "before i used to just like dribbling as a show for the fans, but now [Mourinho] wants me to have an impact on every game, by scoring or assisting. Also, read Mourinho's interview with Neville. He's not asking him to be a defender, but rather be smart enough to be able to read the game. There are situations when he should track back and other times where he doesn't need to.

I know you're a cfc supporter too but why get offended when it's an honest criticism? The only reason Bale is better than Hazard is because he's a goal scorer. Can you imagine if Hazard added that to his game? That's exactly why he said he doesn't consider himself to even be close to top 5 players in the world. He gets into enough dangerous positions to be able to score more goals.
I'm not angry mate ..far from it. I just think its a bit too rich to suggest that Hazard should watch and learn from Neymar when clearly they are two very different type of players playing in very distinct systems with different instructions from the Manager when on or off the ball. If anything both players can learn from aspects of eaxh other's games.
+1
you can't just "add" goal scoring. it's a mindset that needs to develop in a player after an extended period of time spent focusing on the skill.

it is why strikers take so long to develop.

Neymar has been a goal scorer since he was a child; that was his main aim, whereas Hazard developed with a different mindset.

We'll see Hazard develop into a consistent goal scorer in maybe 2-3 years.

It happened to Ronaldo as well; first 2 years starting full time for United he wasn't scoring, then suddenly he blew up, because it became part of his game, rather than something he had to force himself to think about doing.

Right now, Hazard is focusing on scoring, but until it's no longer a focus but a habit, he'll be sporadic, and will score without a consistent streak of games.
+1
We can all agree Hazard needs to score more, in fact it starts with actually taking more shots.

There's no excuses for a player who can dribble anyone he likes and make chances for himself, to end a game without threatening to score.
+1
Yes he should learn from Neymar when they're on similar positions on the field. Neymar has that instinct to shoot and score, same with Bale. Hazard needs to be more selfish, take more shots on goal etc. Again, go look at his interview i'm more or less repeating what he said about -himself-
+2
Hazard is better. You guys do not realize what a great player we have in Hazard, be appreciative. Neymar scores a goal against Real Madrid and all of a sudden Hazard needs to learn from him blablabla.
+2
I'd prefer Hazard over Neymar too
+1
Yes Hazard needs to score more and he's said that himself and he's working on it we need to give him a break its a process not something that happens with the wave of a magic wand
+1
See what Theo did there? Instead of coming up with a useless counter argument, he understood the overall point I was making. Footytube is becoming more and more like a youtube comment section. Can't have a normal discussion without someone getting offended.

-I'm not comparing the two- I just stated an ASPECT of Neymar's game that Hazard can learn from. ffs.
+1
^ why you mad bro
+1
I dont't know what you guys are argueing about. Basically, all of you are saying Hazard needs to score more! Yup hes awesome!

Oh, and players do learn from each other you know. It is one of the ways to improve their game.
+1
@Geekwhu

the difference is, some of us have perspective. Ronaldo and Messi have made scoring look easy. Now, everyone thinks a winger has to score 20+ goals.

It's not easy. If it was, you'd have 20 goal scorers on every team. There is a reason why last season only two players had 20 or more goals is the EPL.

Hazard needing to score 20+ goals is a rational expectation considering his talent, but it is not paramount for us to succeed. His ability to attack defenders and drag players out of position is exceptional. Teams game-plan for him, and the right-back and winger know they are in for a game. He is always double-teamed now, and still he is able to penetrate at will.

Him scoring goals is the icing on the cake right now; he has several years ahead of him to reach his peak.
+1
We're far far far from youtube Ethio. We don't all have to think in unanimous terms. We all come from different places, there are lots of differing opinions. Naija has a different opinion than yours and he's voicing them against yours. You've gotta cut him a little slack. Neymar is a CF and Hazard is a LW. They both play offensive roles but Neymar plays 20 feet from goal most games.

Add to that the difference in leagues. The level of competition in the PL from mid/bottom table teams is far more fiesty than it is in La Liga. 3 points seperate 16th place from 7th place in England. Whereas in La Liga there are only 5 teams that may cause problems for Barca and Madrid.

Take Hazard's performance against Maribor as an example. It was a cake walk. Hazard ran circles around them and scored for fun. I liken this to how he would perform against 15 out of the 20 teams in Spain. He doesn't get that same freedom facing 15 out of 20 PL teams. English football is far more physical than it is in Spain. The refs allow much more contact and hands on players in England.

I have no doubt Hazard would be a top scorer in Spain. He's already proven in 2 leagues he's one of the best. He has now bought into Mourinho's philosophy. He's learning how to be a game changer. And despite his lack of goals over the first few games he's carried CFC on his back a few times so far with great performances that swung the tide our way.
+2
I think you need to learn from other respectable members of this forum so that next time people disagree with you there is no need to label their argument as "useless". u assume Hazard needs to learn how to score from Neymar when clearly what you should say is that Hazard needs t add goals to his game. Players don't score with the same move or style...they all differ in how they run at players, dribble and run with the ball which is what determines how they shoot or pass.

Please learn to broaden your perspective and please no need to use "ffs" if you dont have enough vocabulary then go learn some more.

edit: thanks guys I have edited my post. #Respect
+1
naija bro, I agree with you but using 'in your little mind' is as offensive as ethio calling your arguments useless.
+4
Yup, can't go there Naija. Please edit your comment or it will be reported. Please don't resort to belittlement. It's not befitting of your maturity level my friend.
+1
but i wasnt trying to compare the two. my point was neymar is more of a striker/forward and hazard more of a midfielder.

and if hazard is tracking back this season, good for him. i just remember mourinho complained about that at every chance last season.
It all came to a boil when Athletico scored because Hazard wasn't covering his man and his man scored. Jose spoke to the press about it and said he wasn't happy. Hazard admitted his fault and agreed with Jose. This year is different. Hazard is the engine, Cesc is the Architect and Matic is the Destroyer. But, Oscar is essential to Hazard's success. It has been Oscar's defending that has allowed for Hazard to assume less of the defensive responsibilities and only in case of defending set pieces and defending the counter would he have to really defend. Having Costa take the focus hasn't hurt either.
