For me Lukaku behavior just shows how childish he is. He never wanted to fight for his place in Chelsea. We don't need players like that. Nobody is higher than the Club so he should stay at Everton. I guess he sacrifice winning trophies for playing regularly. For me am disappointed at Roberto Martinez because he kept whispering in his ears, he is a good player, how everton were going to get him back even when he knew he was still a Chelsea player. But anyways I am pretty sure he will be booed when Everton visit Stamford Bridge. I don't miss him n I don't think Chelsea will miss him. Can wait for League to start and see Diego mesmerize the opposition defenses.I believe he will thrive for us in our campaign this year simple because of the simple fact the opposing defense won't be able to figure him out immediately. This is a different case for Lady Torres because no defender is scarred of him. They know he misses sitters like fun.
A good read with charts showing where spending gets you in the PL. You don't spend, you don't win, plain and simple.

http://hitrowz.com/2014/07/31/which-part-of-the-transfer-market-has-your-club-been-shopping-in/
I'd be a lot more interested to see a net spend chart as opposed to gross spend, as it tells you a lot more about business sense and transfer policy.

But it's true, being able to invest in players (especially if you can invest without selling) hugely correlates with success in the league.

Unless your new purchases are injured the entire season :(
Romelu was destined to leave. Chelsea would never take the gamble of having Romelu and lesser players below him in the pecking order. Romelu would not join unless his place was certain. Best to part ways with a kid who would not compete and allow the best talent available to be in the squad fighting for places. Romelu obviously not paying attention to the fact that all the best teams have 2 or 3 great strikers. It made financial sense so the move was made. End of story.

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11668/9400974/transfer-news-jose-mourinho-explains-reasons-behind-romelu-lukakus-move-to-everton
Is Romelu the first player of the Abramovich Era to receive some hate upon exit? I personally don't hate him, just a bit disappointed in him that he never gave Chelsea a real go, i know most (including me) wish him all the best in his future endeavors but i also know that a lot of fans just hate his guts now (RVP, Nasri level).

Will he be booed?
He don't do coke like Muutu, Muutu!

To my recolection Muutu got alot of hate but he left the country so there was nothing to boo.
True dat
and then he did it again lol
Let's do some math shall we.

Players out since last summers TW:

Bruma £2.5 mil
Mata £37.1 mil
KDB £17 mil
Luiz £40-£50 mil
Ba £4.7 mil
PVA £1.5 mil
Lukaku £28 mil

Total: £135.8 mil

Players in since last summers TW:

Shürrle £18 mil
MVG £8 mil
Cuevas £1.7 mil
Willian £32 mil
Atsu £3.5 mil
Brown £0.2 mil
Matic £22.75 mil
Salah £11 mil
Zouma £12.5 mil
Fabregas £30 mil
Costa £32 mil
Pasalic £3 mil
Luis £20 mil

Total: £194.7

Not including last years loss and this years profit we're -£59 mil on player transfers. Looks like we are finished in the TW from a financial standpoint. Maybe selling Lukaku had more to do with getting a good price now, as he only had 2 years left and was not willing to renew and go on loan again.

Pretty sound business considering we got some of those incoming players for astoundingly low costs. I'm pretty satisfied with the squad we have now. Maybe an emergency purchase in january if we're dealing with any major injuries in the next 5 months. I think we can officially close the book on more incoming transfers. We'll see you in the negotiating room next summer Mr. Pogba.

Now, let these new players prove we can be succesful with them and rule England again, at the very least.
I signed three years ago so now I am happy to actually be here, to be a part of this club,’ Courtois

At least he's not saying "first choice or I'm out!". He'll learn a ton from Cech being around. What a luxury it is to have these two in the same squad.
Lukaku u can still come back to us after 2-3 good years at everton. we will buy you back like we did to Matic. Just be calm and prove yourself at theHIGHESTlevel please

I'm not really taking sides in this Lukaku saga. I mean, both parties (Lukaku and Chelsea/Mourinho) have their reasons for things not working out. I bet Lukaku was scarred by hes 1st year at Chelsea when Avb pretty much made him rot on the bench after all the hype of getting him. And with Mou, we all know what the situation is. At the end of the day, I wish him goodluck, no hard feelings at all. Hope he has a great career.

My inital reaction was anger. But now that it has sunk in I'm over it. He was always going to do what he thought was best for him. Which no-one can really blame him for doing so. He's young and arrogant and he wants to play. Maybe in a few years when he's hungry for more than battling for a Europa berth we'll snatch him up and he'll get to play for us in the future. Anything can happen. Good luck and best wishes Romelu!
did we put a buy back clause by any chance lol?
Well said bro.I hope he becomes the striker we all know he can be. Maybe a cheeky bid for him then? ;)
"No. Three strikers is fundamental in a squad and we have three strikers; Fernando, Didier and Diego so one of them is not (going) for sure"

"(We want) to have more English players in our squad which we are going to have in the future but in this moment we are still in the middle of this process. So at the moment we have to make a decision about one player not to be on that list."

"We have the squad we want and, I repeat, the club was fantastic in the way they worked so hard and so fast to get Diego [Costa], Filipe [Luis] and [Cesc] Fabregas. Thibaut [Courtois] to return was something obvious. Kurt Zouma we did six months ago."

"We are happy, and we trust them. We did the job very well. We are outside the market now."

-Mourinho (Sky, Chelseafc.com)

-----------------------
So we are apparently done in the transfer market (if u believe Jose). I'm pretty sure one player, especially in the midfield will be left out and not sold. Torres will stay (yay!) and Mourinho's made it clear no new ST will be coming in. Mourinho touched on HG players, Pogba anyone?.
I don't see any reason why we have to go into a season with four strikers due to the fact that we normally play with a lone striker. I understand why some Chelsea fans are still demanding for extra striker cos they are scared if something terrible happens to Costa in the middle of the pack (God Forbid), Torres is not reliable in terms of goal ratio and Drogba is not the same Old-Drogba, but i still believe that we are going to change the tune when we see the transformation oozing out from the king himself cos his mentor (Mourinho) is a great psychic, so don't be surprised if you still see Drogba playing at the top level again (goal instinct is there).

The story of Cavani linking to us is totally BS, he wants to leave PSG bcos he has been playing out of position, so why would he come to Chelsea when he knows that he is still going to face the same scenario?
Cheers Bluff for the quote...even though u we jnow fully well to take Mou's words with a pinch of salt I really believe him this time around. I think we are done for this season in terms of incoming transfers so defo no Pogba imo.

Pogba would be a great addition to our team but I dont see that happening in this window nor next if anything next summer is the likely time for us to sign him and that only if Mikel and Ramires are shipped of and we can have Matic, Cesc, Pogba, Romeu,MvG, Baker and hopefully Loftus-Cheek who I think can be moulded into our Pogba with the correct coaching. The kid silenced Yaya during last year's off season matches and that is enough to win a kid a starting place in most clubs.
I still think if the chance comes up we'll make a move for Pogba. We all know by now Mou loves to play mind games and deny he's playing mind games. We're still very likely to sell Moses, Marin and possibly Kakuta. With the funds generated from the sale of Lukaku, PVA and the 3 others mentioned we might have enough to make a solid bid for Pogba last minute. As much as Mou says he's happy and we're done, if one more move for Pogba happened I'm sure nobody including Mou would not want that to become a reality, other than Juve and the rest of the PL. :P
So reports everywhere saying we want Cavani. Even SkySports reported it. Metro saying we're lining up a £40m bid to buy him lol
+1
Wouldnt mind that, but would prefer a less big name forward seeing as we have Costa and we only play with one CF
Technically Cavani can play on the wings with Diego up front, but wouldn't that be the reason why he'd want to leave PSG in the first place?

Also.... link or die.
aubameyang is the key to future success. take if from me, chelsea's manager from 2012-(currently 2018)??? in Fifa 13. He was a pain in my ass the first two seasons, playing behind Torres, but then he has been firing on all cylinders! Pace for days and top quality finishing!

*if only life were like Fifa 13 -_-*
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9401408/transfer-news-paris-st-germain-striker-edinson-cavani-happy-to-stay
Hoping for another Striker in this window will turn out to be futile. With Costa, Torres, Drogba we are ok in that department bcos our one Striker system requires the attacking midfielders to chip in their share of goals and Schurlle, Hazard, Oscar, Fabregas (esp from set pieces) Willian and Salah should be able to fill in those goal deficiencies should our Striker have a bad day. Lets not forget that with Ba, Eto and Torres we got to UCL semi out scoring Ibra, Cavani and co over two legs and we nearly won the league beating all the title contenders in the process.

We are a much better team now imo and this will be Willian, Schurlle, Salah and Matic's second season and I'm sure they will improve from last season. Also dare I say that Torres will be lethal this year. .I didnt want to jinx it but I am very certain so I just said it anyway

Blues for life...always KTBFFH.
Thks Bluff. I saw that article earlier, but it look like Cavani wasn't really linked with us in the Sky sports report. Only name mentioned was ManU.

NaijaCF has the right idea. Mou even said it himself: http://www1.skysports.com/transfer/news/12691/9401753/transfer-news-jose-mourinho-confirms-fernando-torres-will-stay-at-chelsea

Saucy, I would love nothing more than to have Aubameyang. Could be lethal for Chelsea in a few years, but Mou wants more homegrown English players now. So after this season, I only expect to see players like Auba come in if the likes of Torres and Drogba leave along with other internationals like Mikel, Moses, and Marin.
lol he kind of does look like roberto martinez with that haircut
Who Cesc? At a glance he looks like his brother for sure. I guess he wanted to have a new look when he came to us so not to look like the Cesc of Arsenal or Barca in a blue shirt.
They have one thing in common, they are both Spaniards/Spanish
i saw somewhere asking when did chelsea sign roberto martinez, but didn't notice the resemblance (mostly in their hairline shape and skin tone) until i saw cesc with the haircut.
+1
I can confirm the resemblance now, and it is really funny that they have same shape and haircut
