People say that I was the one that sold Salah and it is the opposite.

"I bought Salah.

"It is the opposite. I was the one that bought Salah. I was the one that told Chelsea to buy Salah. It was with me in charge that Salah came to Chelsea. But he came as a young kid, physically he was not ready, mentally he was not ready, socially and culturally he was lost and everything was tough for him.

"We decided to put him on loan and he asked for that as well. He wanted to play more minutes, to mature, he wanted to go and we sent him on loan to Fiorentina, and at Fiorentina he started to mature.

"Chelsea decided to sell him, OK?

"And when they say that I was the one that sold him it is a lie. I bought him. I agreed to send him on loan, I thought it was necessary, I thought that Chelsea had wingers... Some of them are still there like Willian, [Eden] Hazard and all those players already in a different level.

"So the decision to send him on loan was a decision we made collectively, but after that, the decision to sell him and to use that money to buy another player wasn't mine. But even if it was, in football we make mistakes a lot of times, so many times some players develop in way we were not expecting, some other don't reach another level like we thought they would, so I don't even think this is a mistake, it is just part of the job.

"But effectively I did buy Salah, I didn't sell Salah, but it doesn't matter. What matters is that he is a fantastic player, and I am really happy for everything that is happening for him and especially because he scores against everyone and he didn't score against us in two games."

MOURIHNO
+1
Not surprised one bit.
Not surprised at all that he wont accept his part of the mistake? Well when has he ever been humble enough to accept his mistake.

"So the decision to send him on loan was a decision we made collectively"

So he did have a say COLLECTIVELY.

I think there half truth in what he said. I dont think Salah asked Chelsea to send him on loan because he wanted to improve himself. Salah or any footballer for that matter will not accept bench role at that age. So obviously they will force a loan move.

Unknowingly Jose creates a very difficult situation for youngsters where every he goes. No his fault because the clubs he has managed demand trophies every season and all he cares about his short term solutions to get results.

He just wont give a player run of more than 3 games before he decided to bench them for ever and isolate them. that he is way of working. If he likes someone they will get free pass for rest of der life like Sir Mikel got at Chelsea

IMO Pep and Klopp are completely opposite in der approach...because both depend a lot of developing young talented player rather than buying finished product.

If it was only Salah i would say it ok. Rejecting Salah , KDB and Lukaku in one season dint happen all of a sudden without his involvements. Does not matter he accepts or not.
Salah side of story which sounds more real

"I know from the first day I wanted to do something different, something special. I was here with Chelsea, didn't get my chance, and then came back. I wanted to show everyone my football"

"I didn't play. You can see by the numbers. I didn't have my chance, but you can see when I did get my chance I proved some people wrong"
+1
its obvious it was Mourinho's decision to send him out on loan and then sell him thereafter he will lie, this guy will blame anyone but himself just look at Casillas saga when he was at Madrid he put all the blame on him to lean away the blame for losing games.

Salah "i did get my chance i proved some ppl wrong" obviously he's talking about Mourinho....its pretty crystal clear.
+1
Mou is right with him not selling Salah and wrong at the same time, like he would of eventually ended up selling him if he was still in charge
but he can't avoid the sale of KDB
Kante-KDB-Cesc could of been a think of beauty
DAMN YOU MOURINHO lol
Ref is ruining the game at the emirates.
who needs ref to do that.
Is it weird that I’m rooting for Wenger?? I mostly want him to win out in the epl and bring home a trophy so he can leave saying “you’ve made a mistake” haha
We have played the most minutes of all pl teams
Source Sky Sports

The one who has played the most minutes is Azpi, captain reliable
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyagGN1QM9k

He had that swag even at Chelsea someone was too blind to see it. Read the comments Liverpool fans are thanking Mourinho for selling him.
+2
lol are we doing this again? salah has become a top player but he wasnt good at chelsea . He couldnt start over our options then and we even sold mata when we got him. He is neither the first nor would be last player to improve when given a consistent game time in a different club. If we kept salah he probably wont have developed to be this good
+1
Agree with the OP. Salah was raw at Chelsea but any sensible coach could see that he just needs time having just made the huge leap from Basel to Chelsea. He was fast and tricky that is definitely a good base to build on. Let's not try to say he wasn't good at Chelsea bcos the same man who made the call to let him go also made the same regrettable decision on KdB and Lukaku. Florentina couldn't wait to have him once we decided to loan him and they are a decent team and not long thereafter Roma fought tooth and nail to take him off us for good.

Same thing is happening to Rashford, sooner or later we'll be hearing stories about Rashford not being good enough bla bla bla but before Mourinho he was at worse half decent now he's below average.

If we had Raheem Sterling we'd still be saying the same now. I remember when he started he just seemed a speed merchant with erratic touches and movement but grew his game at Liverpool enough to warrant a step up. Same goes for Sane at Schalke.

We didn't give them a chance but that's bcos we had a manager then who never gives young players a chance unless they already have it all which is very rare. Anyway u look at it losing KdB, Lukaku, Salah etc were terrible terrible decision making.
+1
Nobody is as good as Salah is now when they join a new club. Not even Ronaldo or Messi. Job of a manager and scouts at the club is to retain such talented players and help them develop.

He was not as good He not as good lol!? Yes ofcourse he was not as good. Its up to the manager and club to develop a talented player and help fulfill his potential.
+1
Rashford is 20 and has made the most appearances for Mourinho in our squad. Maybe the directive needs to come from the club. Mourinho of course prefers to have ready made players but if the club has a philosophy of developing talents and can be patient then the manager might have to adhere to that.

Did any big clubs take their chances on KDB, Salah or Lukaku after Chelsea? Why not? Why did Liverpool not buy Salah from Chelsea, or City buy KDB from Chelsea? One went to a midtable club in Germany, one to a midtable club in England and one to a struggling club in Italy where they got a proper chance to develop. Its not easy to compete for titles and develop young, inconsistent players.

Maybe stick with Conte for a few years and give him a chance to nurture some of the young player coming through at Chelsea but lets be honest. He is most likely going to get sacked. What incentive does a manager at Chelsea have to develop young players? Would Chelsea fans be happy to finish in and out of top four like Arseanl? Something tells me that wont happen and i know Roman wont definitely let that happen. Having success and developing young players dont always go hand in hand.
The fact of the matter is that we can all play hindsight game but kloop is the reason most of the liverpool players are this good. We have never really had managers that specialize in young stars like poch, kloop etc but at the end of the day we have won a good number of trophies. Lolol and btw if we refer to the old comments on footytube or tweets when salah was still in chelsea, I am sure a lot the fans regretting his sales were bashing him.The only thing is that we should have put a buy back clause in his contract
+1
I agree with Bazinga managers are there to develop top talent.
Rednickle123 add Pep to that list of Klopp and Poch because when Sane was coming from Shalke he was not well known infact when we bid for him no other club tried to steal the deal, we bid 40 mil and it was done deal. Same with Gabriel not very well known now he is a star. Pep improved Sterling's game a lot, just look at his numbers. I should say Wenger should be on that list as well he was good at developing youngsters at Arsenal especially at the beginning of his career at Arsenal with the likes of Anelka etc.
When I saw Salah at Chelsea play his first game i could tell he is a Messi like hybrid very similar in style and I am just a football fan how Mourinho didnt see it is beyond me.
Basically mourinho f’d us...He’s a super sketchy manager nowadays.. He’s too full of himself. I can definitely see him sabotaging teams because he’s losing or whatever fake reality that he lives in and doesn’t want the attention on him but rather on the players like we saw recently at that weird press conference he had..I really don’t like him anymore lol salah simply wasn’t given the time at Chelsea to develop into the player he is today. At liverpool they just threw him in there and now he’s a Messi...the same thing would’ve happened at Chelsea. There’s no excuse. Think if we played hazard every other couple games when he came to Chelsea, then benched him because of a couple lack luster performances.. The exact same thing would’ve happened to hazard as well.. like I said no excuse for letting him go! He had the talent and there’s no denying that. He was just young and clearly needed to play! A lot!
+1
Rashford seriously? LVG was the one who gave Rashford and Lingard chance ....ofcourse Jose is using them now. But if LVG had not introduced them into United squad no way they would make it now.

"Why did Liverpool not buy Salah from Chelsea, or City buy KDB from Chelsea?"

Not easy to transfer players btw big clubs unless other big club is ready to over pay like United did for Matic and Mata. Chelsea did for Torres.

I dont blame Jose for selling them, but its fact that he failed to use young talented players by given them decent time. Nobody wanted to start every game. Its just that he was too impatient and refuse to take chances with young player Just like Conte has done this season.

Conte could have used RLC , Traore and Chalobha instead of wasting money on Bakayoko , Michy , Drinkwater etc. Money should be used to buy star players like Hazard not some mediocre squad players.
+1
Btw Liverpool did try to sign Salah but he chose Chelsea. Not sure if we tried to sign him after he went on loan.
What a load of BS. Every single Chelsea fan here could not wait for the club to get rid of him. He was awful at Chelsea. It is fantastic how he has developed, but he was shockingly bad at Chelsea.
+1
IMO its will be easier for Liverpool to face Bayern over Real.
+1
I agree, Real madrid will have too much experience for liverpool and they have good record in finals
lolol that is really a no brainer. Zidane has really worked his magic with the team in the way they can easily adapt to opponents gameplay and how their players fight to end
the scary part was Real didn't even play to their best and still won, it's scary
+1
it was more like Lewandovski and Muller missing sitters thats why Real won, Salah would have buried all those chances
lol you forgot the ribery chance but all those things add up though
your talking about Salah burying those chances..what about Ronaldo burying chances against Liverpool defense? Dude needs no time to turn game upside down and Ramos usually turns-up for big games.

Liverpool will have to score first to have any chance...if they let Real score one they are chasing game for 90min
I dont see Real Madrid not winning the CL from here. It’s a hattrick for them.
When Bayern go head to head against Real Madrid I find Bayern play the better game but Real still beat them. Shows how good of a team Real is.
You never know haha it’s football. It’s the most unpredictable game in the world for sure
Tonight just proved that 3 at the back formation is one of the easiest to play against especially in Europe. This probably explains why Conte failed in Europe.

Tired of pragmatism we've done it for 15 years with the onky exception of Ancelotti's 2 seasons. It's easy to be patient with a coach who's team plays with flair than with a defensive coach. If a manager plays a style that the board loves and admires trust me they will stick with him.

Now watch Conte play 3a-t-b against this Liverpool side and we'll get walloped.
+4
Midfield just gets outplayed with the 3 at the back and we do zero pressure to win the ball back, it's annoying, need more offensive approach
+1
We weren't pragmatic in Mou's first spell. We were awesome. We weren't pragmatic in 08 and 09 either.
We werent pragmatic under Mou? Come-on TWB if anything apart from one season at Real where he had best players in he world he has been most pragmatic manager in Europe for last two decades. Nothing wrong but he is what he is.

Klopp and Pep have different ideology to Conte and Jose......Nobody is bad or wrong. Its just how they like to work.
+3
Not saying Jose’s or Conte’s defensive tactics dont work. It clearly does as is visible with the titles we have won under them. When we have the likes of Hazard, Willian, Pedro and Cesc and a power house like Kante we need bot fear conceding goals as we can outscore most of the opponents. For a change I would like to see us bring an attacking manager and give it a try even if it means we might not win any trophies for a few seasons.
+1
We were NOT pragmatic in 04/05/06 .We were super pragmatic in 13/14..We weren't pragmatic in the first half of 14/15..we were super pragmatic in the second half. We didnt really have an identity in 16/17. I know what im talking about. This is what we were and weren't. Dont just go with what the popular opinion is. These are the facts.

My favorite Chelsea team was actually the one under Abram Grant and the year after. We just had that " we dont fear you " mentality. I loved it.
Pragmatic is different from defensive is what i believe.
Pragmatism is when a team plays with severe caution or when a team plays like they are scared of the opponent.

We weren't that team in Jose's first spell. This is not even to defend Mou cos I have said it a million times that I would not have him back at Chelsea but it'll be a lie to say we played with any fear when he first joined Chelsea. We were very balanced.

for example, this current Bayern side is considered "Balanced" by many.. well, we were better than that in 04/05 and 06.
That's not what being pragmatic means...
It's easy to play against when the team has no effing clue how to execute it. You can say that about any formation.
+2
Is that right KevMo? Why dont u educate us on pragmatism as it pertains to football.
Pragmatic in football world - Approach every game with Caution and focus on stopping other team from player rather than taking initiative and trying to score goals.

To play pragmatic you have to depended a lot of special players to take chances and shut the opponents after going ahead. His team would control the game even without having possession. And when the opponents burn out hit them hard on the break.
No you're right, it's playing like you are scared of the opponent. I apologize.
+1
Since Roma abandoned that crap 3 at the back formation they have got 2 goals. We did something similar against Southampton but Conte will not abandon his baby.
Funny how its his baby now but when he first came, he didn't even want to use 3 at the back until we failed miserably with 4 at the back
+1
^ do I still believe that nonsense? Honestly, the man had just come back from Euros and didn't have time to drink his formation into our players and even then it was no secret that he was already training them for it at Cobham. If u think they the half time change on formation against Arsenal that heralded our title winning run was the first time we played 3-4-3 and that Moses all of a sudden became this amazing WB on the day then u know nothing about football.

Its no secret that it takes months for new players to master Conte's tactics so u should know that the man couldn't wait to revert to his preferred style and the huge loses to Pool and Arsenal game him the excuse to deploy it.
Let it be his baby..He won 4 league titles in 5 seasons with his baby. Not many managers have achieved that.

Everyone will have der own style and approach...Just because it click last season failed this season doesn't mean he will abundant his trademark style. Neither will Klopp , Pep, Jose , Wenger or anyone for that matter. They all have der own ways.
^he's great and all that and u know what winning all those titles was incredible just in the same way those poor cup runs were abysmal.

We were second in the league at the turn of the year look where we are, it's absolutely unacceptable to me. All those managers u mentioned have their style and stick to it but guess what? They all play with 4 at the back he's the only one different and even those to mirrored his formation have since abandoned it.

It was great while it lasted as a surprise but this season we've been asked questions by even relegation teams and we had no answers on the pitch.

Conte didn't create Chelsea, his money doesn't go in Chelsea purse so if he's not delivering he should go. Not to disrespect his 1 league title but we've had better managers and sacked the. Heck even Leicester who should have made a statue for Ranieri sacked him as well.
If only we has signed Naigollan we'd be world beaters and never played 5 defenders even against lowly teams and still get beat.

Henderson, Gini and Milner absolutely dominating Naigollan, Strootman and Dean Rossi. Klopp has done wonders with average players and academy products. I respect the man.
+4
thats why i want kloop to win champions league
2 goals and 2 assist already lol....if anyone apart from Salah wins BallanD this season it would be disgrace to football.
+6
lol doesnt work that way..first of liverpool has to win champions league and secondly it is a world cup yeah so egypt has to do really well
it should work that way, ballon d'OR is an individual award not a collective award
