Guardian Report - "José Mourinho mistakes with De Bruyne, Lukaku and Salah haunt Chelsea"

As much as i hate him. its not just his mistake and neither will it hunt Chelsea.

We lost De Bruyne for 10m profit - Got Cesc as replacement season after and won two league titles.

We lost Lukaku for 18m profit - Signed Costa from AM season after to win tow league titles.

We lost Salah for 12m profit - Signed Pedro who was instrumental in winning league last season.

End of the day KDB , Lukaku and Salah are what they are because they left Chelsea to play regular football and develop over last 2/3 seasons. if Chelsea would kept them and offered regular football to them we might not have won 2 league titles in 3 seasons. So to gain something we have to lose something.

At this point in time KDB , Lukaku & Salah are doing great for respective clubs, but we have Morata , Cesc , Kante , Pedro who are equally good and would not be here if we had kept those 3.

Its a win win for both club and the players...Not a mistake in my opinion.
+3
LOL "haunt Chelsea". Totally agree with you Bazinga. I would only use the word haunt if we get the UCL final and De Bruyne or Lukaku scores the winner against us.
And note that those 3 players have won nothing since leaving Chelsea.Haunt Chelsea? Lol,what a laugh.
KDB for sure big loss
4 years back anyone would take Cesc over KDB....if you think about now yeah KDB has more value, but like i mentioned above Cesc won two PL titles and proved his worth already.

if Solanke becomes a big star in coming year it would be considered as big loss, but does it make sense for Chelsea to hold him when Morata , Michy , Tammy are fighting for 1 place and even Bertrand Traore could not make a cut inspite of good loan spells.

We should only be considering the value of player at the time when we sold them and not after 4 years when the player is developed due to regular football elsewhere. At Chelsea nobody gets time to experiment and develop players..FACT!
Haunt??? lol

We won two premier league titles, a COC cup, reached an FA Cup final, UCL Semi final, quater-final, went on a record tying 13 game winstreak in the premier league, all in the timeframe of selling those 3 players.

Also in that timeframe, those 3 players have won pretty much close to zilch.

Dissapointed to lose them? yes, especially KdB
haunt??? pls.....
+2
I think they would have used another word instead of haunt. Yes we signed those players Bazinga listed but they are didn't came to replace salah, kdb and lukaku. We replaced kdb with A. Schulrre, loaned out salah to buy Cuadrado. Replaced Lulaku with Eto'o. Cesc came as a replacement for Mata who left during winter while Costa came in as a permanent replacement for Drogba even tho Drogba came back to play one season with him.

We make lots of profit during their sells but whoever that says we don't regret it is lying to himself especially KDB because its Jose's management that leads to his departure coz Jose always have his favorite.

We have to move on from those players we loss and become more concern about Conte's fate after this season. If conte left we will go back to square zero and it will be difficult to match big teams in terms of performance, with Conte our young players have big chance of breaking through while we keep winning trophies.
KDB transfer is the only one that can bite us back, he is one of the best CAM and is the main star for a direct rival and we kept Oscar instead of KDB though we made a great profit on Oscar, but @Baz made a good point with Cesc,
+1
KDB replacement was Schurrle? cant be true...I know be bought Schurrle at the same time when we sold KDB but its not like for like...right now if KDB would come he would replace Cesc and not any of our wingers
Blame Oscar.
+1
Blame Jose for preferring Oscar to KDB.
+1
we could hv sold KDB with buyback clause...thts wht chelsea management wanted but jose convinced not to put buyback clause.
+1
I agree that they won't be they players if they didnt get playing time, and its hard for young players to start over established names.
Its the same reason Morata wanted to move from RM because he won't fulfil his potential sitting on the bench behind Benzema in the pecking order
Blame this one, blame that one.The short term memory here is hilarious.Did you expect KDB to start over Oscar(who was on form at that time)and Mata who was also still at Chelsea? If I remember he played the first couple of games and he was horrible, some of you were calling for his head.He was told by Jose he would have to fight for his place and he said,he's not accustomed having to train or fight to get in a team.So he requested to be loaned out and eventually sold.

Hindsight is just that hindsight.Would I trade him for two titles?Nope, wouldn't even think about it.He is a quality player now, back then he was just potential,Chelsea don't do potential, hit the ground running or nothing.
+1
Speak for urself, I never thought for a second that KDB was horrible even at Chelsea. He had a lot of potential but Jose wanted players who could "track back" and so he preferred Oscar. Same dumb reason why he let Mata go to utd at the time. We won trophies sure but on the long run, Mourinho f****d us over. KDB will forever be that ex girlfriend we let go too soon.
+1
No need to speak for myself, calling what I saw on this forum.Of course not everyone said he was horrible but he was horrible in the chances he was given. And this Mourinho f****d us over, lol. The Guy said he wanted to leave and said he doesn't want to fight he is accustomed to starting, that was his words. The only one that got f****d over was Mata, who gave his all and got sold against his will.

How are you people missing the point KDB wanted to leave same as Lukaku,Nate and Solanke. You cannot expect to keep every player and he is not a player we missed either. This is Chelsea don't care who we let go we find a way to be successful.
He wasn't salah horrible lmao stop exaggerating. KDB was just as good as Oscar at the time and only reason why Jose preferred Oscar "again" is simply "tracking back". You out here talking about "kdb wanted to leave" but ignores why he chose to leave. How can u fight for a place in a team that barely gives you a chance to prove yourself? How do u think pogba became a beast in juventus and now a utd star? Clearly, looking back now and seeing how much of a beast KDB has become, we can only wonder what if we had put a bit more faith in him at Chelsea? Out of all the players who left Chelsea and did well elsewhere, KDB is the one that hurts the most and although we have cesc, I still can't help but wonder what if. Face it, KDB was an investment we wished we spent more time on to let it blossom.
+1
I agree with the OP and the other similar posts. Since all those named players left chelsea what have they won? Even if KdB or Lukaku won the title this season it will still be one less than the 2 we won since they left.

Ty[ical media balderdash
The media rotates between who they want to mock from week to week, month to month. During the summer, it was us for spending so much, now they love us because were winning all of the sudden. Then followed by Arsenal for losing Ox and losing 4-0 to Liverpool, Wenger out, you know the usual. Now its Chelsea for being some points behind the first placed team, injuries and letting KDB and Lukaku go, RLC doing so well all the sudden, you know all the things they can use to take shots at clubs. This is typical media, don't let it get to you.

Truth is, Mourinho had some really good players and young guns at Chelsea but he can't satisfy everyone and keep them at the club, Oscar was killing it then, what was Mou suppose to do, drop a young star (at that time) for young KDB?
+1
The only mistake was selling KDB without a buyback clause. There was no way for a young KDB to start ahead of Oscar and Mata. Just like RLC wont start ahead of Chelsea players right now but later he could be much better than the then chelsea players who will play in his position. But it doesnt mean we should have kept him at chelsea all the time. I think the club has learned the hard way from the case of KDB not to sell young players with potential. Even if we sell RLC we will probaly have a buy back clause.
+1
KDB wasn't horrible, he played the first match against Hull City and shine in that match, iys against united that he hard one off game and since then Jose benched him for up to two months without any appearance. No player will accept that given how KDB was playing that time. Its Jose's fault.
@No1 Chelsea Man what are you talking about?KdB was not as good as Oscar.Oscar problem was half seasons. At that time was Oscar was doing everything right tracking, scoring goals making a few assits. Then you had Mata our number 1 in my opinion and you are telling me to bench them for KDB at the time?Haha, joke.

I repeat,it wasn't a matter of not getting game time,KDB said he doesn't have to train hard or fight for his place,he wanted to walk straight in the team.Jose even said it in an interview. How would the other players feel when a guy can walk straight into a team with players that were better than him.
Mourinho said KDB wasn't working hard in training but the Wolfsburg manager said he was pleased with KDB's working rate in training, it's how you look into it
KDB was dropped after a poor performance vs Man U and he really wasnt given a chance after that, all good players have bad matches, maybe KDB and Jose were never meant to get along and hence why he is thriving under Pep
+1
@ Drogbalam Fair enough for me.I don't like dwelling on the past.As you said probably was a Jose,KDB thing.Know disputing he had potential to become a world great but people are saying Jose the club had no patients, nope,KDB was not willing to wait it was as simple as that.He moved for the better for him, good on him and Chelsea kept on winning silverware without him and will continue to as well.
Patience
@REDZONE again, u are exaggerating how great Oscar was for Chelsea. I never said bench both for kdb, just Oscar. Look the fact of the matter is KDB had more quality but Jose chose Oscar cos he fit into his defensive tactics more. KDB wasn't bad, he has always had that world class talent just like hazard but Kevin got the short end of the stick under Jose mourinho.
I wrote a reply but this site like it's f*****g around at least on my cell phone. So let's agree to disagree.
@REDZONE: I was writing in sarcasm font. Oscar was massive for most of the season we won the 2015 title.
Yo guys rmb me lol
yeah aaron how you doin :)
Of course buddy,how ya doing.
Are you still in Army boot camp Aaron?
Welcome back man!
Welcome back Aaron.
Welcome back dude!
RLC already injured...2nd injury this season IMO this guy will another Sturridge
He has some serious issues with his back, and that is really not good.

when he is playing good , he is a treat too watch, i believe he is our best passer of all time
He is one of the best all time passers in the premier league.
only if he could take free kick like Pirlo
“Chelsea have approached Luis Campos of AS Monaco, the man regarded as European football’s most accomplished talent scout, to replace Michael Emenalo as the club’s technical director”.
Actually Campos left Monaco for Lille this season, now working with Bielsa on a new project.

I will be suprised if Chelsea go for him, Campos's pol's to buy great prospects , develop them then sell then at higher price, that's what he was doing at Monaco.

Sounds like something Arsenal would do:)
Also Campos used to be a coach, and has a strong personality, not sure Conte is going to like that.

I think Campos decision is only to buy....selling those prospects is clubs decision and in some case players who wanted to move to bigger clubs.

We have made plenty of money selling loan army players over last 4-5 years and club is certainly moving in different direction.

But if he has already joined Lille it could be BS rumors.

in other news
No Italy in the world cup :(, wanted to see Buffon in the WC
They were awful at creating and converting chances....that team does not deserve to go any further.

Honesly they looked like Jose's team in big games...just hoofing long balls and hoping to get lucky.
+3
They should have fired the coach before the second leg.
+1
it's a shame too see a team with so much pride and history not being able to make it, it is just not right to see teams like Italy, Netherlands, Chile not qualify for the world cup
It shows how much a coach can make a difference. In Euros we had Conte with a weaker team. We had Pelle and Eder starting games and we almost made it to the semis after beating Spain and Belgium. Now with Immobile, Insigne, Belotti and Verratti firing for their respective clubs and the old guard still in tact we can't even beat Sweden.
Ventura dropped out like a bitch before they can fire him but the FIGC head needs to go to. He is an old, racist pig. Time for the Maldinis, Baggios and Albertinis to run Italian football.
+2
i don't think it was 100% the coaches fault, the players were at fault as well. The players you listed Immobile insigne belotti are nothing compared to the golden generation Italy had in 2006 with Totti Del Piero Pirlo Gatusso etc i think it will be a while before Italy has another golden generation. It looks like each country has its turn and Belgium has the golden generation at the moment, they have a lot of depth in their squad and France isn't far behind.
blame the coach 90%.
+2
Chile are the big miss. Italy and Netherlands likely won’t have made it past R16.
+2
FootballisCity - "Immobile insigne belotti are nothing compared to the golden generation Italy had in 2006 with Totti Del Piero Pirlo Gatusso etc "

Pele , Eder and Giaccherini are nothing compare to Immobile insigne belotti and yet Italy only lost to Spain in penalty @ Euro and thrashed Belgium. Also they dint have Verratti and some key player during Euro

Its all about the coach
+2
They beat Spain too, lost to Germany on pennos
Multiple reports suggesting that Zola in the running for the Emenalo's position.
Isn't Lampard also interested in it
Why not both
+4
that'd be awesome
Add Drogba to it to make it trio of Legends of Directors.
Good first halF from RLC ...Tammy looks nervous, but doing ok
i like the confidence RLC is showing,

how did Rud play
RLC got the motm, good stuff
He looked like the best player for England. He still has that lazy type of vibe to him, but managers are able to get the best out of him playing him higher up the pitch.
Agreed Hits..he still looks lazy and very relaxed on the ball.Does not try to push forward quickly
Found this on Pool page

Players whose contracts expire at the end of 2017/18:

Lionel Messi
Alexis Sánchez
Mesut Özil
Ander Herrera
Juan Mata
José Giménez
Stefan De Vrij
Ross Barkley
Leon Goretzka
Emre Can
Daley Blind
Faouzi Ghoulam
Luke Shaw
Fernandinho
Jack Wilshere
Marouane Fellaini
Mario Balotelli
Max Meyer
Amin Younes

Ignoring Messi , Fernandino and United players...that is a a decent list. I would take one of these 4 to improve our squad next season or in Jan. Alexis , Ghoulam , Goretzka and Giménez
Wilshere and Fellaini plssss
+1
Shaw because he wants to move from Man UTD
Ozil because he is a player that shines when other good players are around him
No Juan loves Mata?
+1
Mata will be 30 next season and i'm not sure where we can fit him in our current 3-4-3 system. I think he will move back to Valencia
Goretzka and Ghuolam pls. This two will improve us.
Mata best position at CAM/CF position, he will be wasted if we were to sign him
From what I hear Shaw is barely good enough for even our reserves. So I don't think you want him
Injuries really killed off whatever Shaw had in him huh? Once was a world record transfer for a teenager to this?
Shaw is still young thou, Mou destroyed his confidence by crictizing him and then he did no favors saying he would like to play under Poch
+1
I know you guys dislike Jose but he wasn't the only manager to criticize him. Van Gaal did the same within his first month or two as a manager for us and so has Poch
LVG and Poch both gave Shaw a chance to play in 1st team regular football, Mou hasn't given him that chance, Mou has his favorites and there are some players who will never start for him, i think Shaw is another victim, it happened with us eg ( Mata, KDB, Cudrado, Salah )
he did get chances. then he got injured. LVG didnt give him chances till near the end of his first season
+1
Michy is injured, i think its minor, hope he recovers asap
