cant wait til this fresh new season starts..

also why am I not hearing any rumblings about any signings? we need to be making fkn moves right now
We hold the unfortunate records for the worst league title and champions league defence.

#Fahct
Gutted for Atletico.
Outplayed Real
Very unlucky to lose twice in the final

it was really for me to see their fans crying:(
+1
^agreed, they are very passionate
Reminds me of when we beat Benfica in the Europa League and one guy cried his heart out.
CR7 is the most hated man in barcalona
Nope, that would still be the translator.

Took me so long to realize you meant mourinho
Ronaldo and Bale are falling over every slightest little touch...
Ronaldo who was so s**t, wins it for Real on penalties. Really so undeserved. Feel so bad for Atletico.

Watching Mourinho's interview with MUTV really hurts me emotionally.
The man is gone and his stints with us is history. United didn't want him back when SAF retired so signing now just kind of puts their judgement into question. They could have had a better Mourinho 3 years ago now now.

He's gone that's it. I just hope Conte and whatever squad he choses to play go on to win the league next season with swagger and style.
Conte?Swagger,style?Lol no.Expect defense first football.
+3
Agreed with REDZONE. With Conte I expected a solid back line 1 or 2-0 victory at best. Probably something with 3 CBS like he had back at Juve. I can see us playing 3 CBs with Zouma, Cahill and a new signing.
Defensive football put you guys at where you are today. Nothing wrong with the style.
Key word guys "hope". Who's to say Conte cannot adapt his game to allow his attackers the freedom to do their thing. He's never had a player like Hazard nor the sort of budget we can offer him.
Typically you get what you paid for. You don't hire a manager only to ask him to change what has made him successful in the first place.

same should be said for utd fans w/ mourinho. we all know what he's like and how he plays. he's not going to apologize or change his style as it has been successful in the past. even he clearly said "utd fans know what i can offer." he's not going to change his ways, we just have to hope he can bring success. same for you and conte.
+1
Conte will not play 3-5-2 formation this coming season unless we buy 2 top CBs and I've read a few articles claiming that is not his favourite formation either. At Juve he wanted a winger in his final season which makes me think he was working towards a 4-2-4 or 4-4-2 formation.

What I really want to see from him is to play Hazard in the middle behind the Striker(s).
Keep calm and Conte on.
Man, it's still soo surreal for me.
One year ago we won the league, being on top for pretty much whole season. Everybody believed we were the team to beat in England, with Mourinho getting contract extension and hoping to stay here for long time.
And here we are now, 10th in the table with Jose signed as United manager. Surreal.

thats life.
Red shirt with Blue Heart.......
Indeed...self contradictory and prone to hypocrisy
+5
Looked like he didn't want it with the jersey, just cracked a smile
Congratulations to Jose Mourinho for getting his dream job

+2
Here's hoping it doesn't become our nightmare and the same people happy he's gone don't eventually start reminiscing about the good times with him, wishing he wasn't sacked. Lol
+1
Meh here's hoping he sends Mata, Herrera and Martial over this way and gets little horse United in top 6 next year

I am of the opinion that Jose's best years are behind him of which we benefitted the most. I remember back in 2004 when he just broke onto the world football stage with swagger and an enormous amount of self confidence which we fell for. 10 years later that swagger is gone and what is left is unnecessary arrogance and a shifty attitude. Jose's team losing a match in his first 5 years on the world stage was a bit of a collector's item but in the last 5 years he's lost more games than u would expect.

José is and always will be one of the greatest Managers of all time but now in 2016 u cannot ignore the likes of Simeone, Garcia(Barca), Klopp, Emery, Pochetino, Koeman etc who have all exceeded expectations and look ready to take over from Jose's generation. Needless to say these Managers have enjoyed varying degrees of success against Jose's teams.

If u want to know my wishes for José.. I hope he finishes behind us as we win the title for the duration of his United career. Yes..a friend of my enemy is my enemy. That sounds a bit extreme but u know what I mean;)
+7
Good point Naija, that's what I thought.
United backed LVG with 250m. Can you imagine what Jose can do with that sort of money? United have no reason to back down from spending, and Jose knows exactly what he wants when he gets to a club, having seen it from the outside. Fact is, the club completely f****d him over in the summer transfer window.

His last 4 months at Chelsea will have taught him a lot as well. You will see an even better manager at United.
+11
Liquidator...I don't disagree with that possibility but I think if 250m couldn't get LvG a champions league spot this season with United finishing 6 points from Liverpool in 8th and teams who've spent considerably less money finishing in top 3 I think it's safe to say money doesn't play that much of a big role like it did 10 years ago.

If u follow football closely in the last 5 years a team's togetherness, chemistry, fighting spirit and Coaching tactics have been the biggest factors in a teams success. Hence the likes of Simeone, Klopp, Tuchel, Pochetino , Koeman thriving now. I'm afraid to say but I think José 's Coaching and tactical acumen has dwindled and there's less fear of him for that reason. A first team manager should be able to mould every player in his squad to fit his tactics which explains why a team like Southampton can lose players in droves and their Manager still ends the season on a better note than the previous one. Romeu and Bertrand who we someone couldn't help improve their game - which is what u expect of a coach- have blossomed under Koeman and are better than the players we have in those positions.

Simeone has put paid to this money buys success argument. He's lost his best players but his team never fell too far from what is expected of them. Better still players who left readily want to go back to him with no ill feelings involved which is something u cannot say about Jose. Leicester 's miraculous title win further buttresses my point.

We need to move away from spending 1000000s om players and focus on how a manager can actually turn an average player into a top player like Klopp, Pochetino, Simeone, Ranieri , Koeman are doing. You don't need to buy 5 players at 50m each to make you a top coach. You don't need 11 world class players to be a winning manager all you need are 2-3 world class players in attack and you coach the others and help them raise their game. In 4 months our man couldn't find a way to help his team raise their game instead we were dropping lower and lower perilously close to relegation zone. Things like this shouldn't happen to a high profile manager like José it should happen to relegated managers. He had no idea as to how to change tactics or formation or personnel to arrest the decline. When Southampton were hit by injuries and lost for Koeman played 3 at the back to turn things around and it did. If things aren't going well for Pep' s teams u see him try things and even in his interviews he talks about movements he's worked on and how he sets his team to slice through the opposition. Only thing José complains is his team had no balls!! That ain't tactics.
We all thought his last month's at Real thought him valuable lessons as well but alas we were wrong. I guess we'll have to wait and see how it all goes for him at OT only a couple of months now to go.

Come on naija it is easy for you to make these comments now but how many years did you go without a league title before Jose's second appointment. Last year was a disaster but do you really think his best years are behind him? As in he won't win trophies again?

it's funny though that you mentioned those managers that have usurped him at the top of football, but none of those guys have won anything this season (besides unai) and none of those guys have won CL in their careers. they are indeed very good managers, and deserve praise and respect, but ultimately you have to win to gain the proper recognition. nearly isnt good enough.

i think you're jumping the gun. and i still think jose is a great manager, but he has his faults like everyone else. no one is perfect. only time will tell if he is indeed damaged goods or if he can restore his reputation as one of the best.

and fyi simeone has spent almost 300 million euro in the last 3 years on his humble atleti side.
+4
He will win trophies again, and throughout his career.
What Liq said. Our Board is a bunch of corrupt and dumb pile of f*cks that don't know what they want, all dictated by Abramovic. Mr. Abramovic wants youth but then we see Mikel play CB, what does that say to our young CBs? nuff said right there.
Some of us who hurl insults at our board when all they have done is serve the Club and have spent more money on transfers in the last 12 years than any Club not named Real Madrid in the height of ingratitude any human can express.

Very soon the man will build us a stadium and we will continue Oliver-twisting without any form of appreciation. I ask u lot when was the last time you bought someone u dont know a decent free meal? U see how easy it is to spend ur money on others hey?

We made José the best paid manager and bought him the players he wanted in Cuadrado and Salah but it all turned out a waste of time and money whose fault? He chose to buy Etoo and Falcao.. Whose fault?

Lets be grateful please
+3
You make some good points Naija and I agree with some of them.

But suggesting a 53 year old managers "best years are behind him" is ridiculous. Jose walked into Chelsea and won you the league twelve months ago.

Liquidator is right, he got abandoned by your board in the transfer window despite selling a lot of players for a high price and was abandoned by your squad on the pitch after the Caneiro fallout which tbf was handled badly on his part but there is no denying that Chelsea players know they can get any manager sacked, the board will never back the gaffer over the players at Chelsea and they know it, wont happen at United as none of them are safe.
+2
Ok I agree maybe I'm being too critical José might well win loads of trophies. What I was getting at is that earlier on in his career he was more of a guarantee for trophies than he currently is. Seeing him struggle for 4 months looking exhausted and clueless was very hurtful for someone like me who adored him for his fearlessness and tactical flexibility. He did the same thing for 4 months and in the end was at odds with everyone and even calling on the Club to sack him. This from a man who was made the highest paid manager by the board.

All these talk of nor signing players he wanted is balderdash. Mourinho has got all the players he wanted the only ones he didnt get were Rooney and Stones and we all know he was just toying with those player's minds and didnt see them as necessary signings. We all seem to forget that for those players it was José who was saying all sorts to the media which didnt help the players especially Stones.

José sold Mata, Schurlle and KdB and replaced them with Salah and Cuadrado. Those were his choices same as Fab,Matic and Costa. Some of his decisions were fantastic but some turned out to be stupid and we must attribute all to him rather than credit him for good transfers and blame the board for bad ones.

Let's consider this simple point..when José came back we had Bertrand and Cole as LB and 3 years later how is our LB position in the squad? In that time we have signed and sold Felipe Luis and who do we blame for not being able to integrate a world class LB?

Mourinho won us the league and C1 Cup but so did Pellegrini in his very first season. If Rodgers was a bit more clever he could have won the league in Jose's first season. This season Ranieri has won it so its not like José did something totally impossible with all the money and talent at his disposal.
