So apparently Zidane is eyeing Hazard.

"Obviously [...] Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are very spectacular, but I like Eden Hazard. Everything he does on the field like it. I like his behavior, his decisive side and the fact [that he makes] progress every year. [He] still has a good margin of progression, and [he's the biggest reason] Chelsea are leading the championship."
-Zinedine Zidane

Here come the flood of rumours of him going to Madrid.
brace yourselves. this could get ugly.

What I fear is that Jose and Hazard are going to fall out at some point in the near future. I don't think Eden much likes the counter-attacking approach of Jose, and will likely want to play in an extremely attack centered clubs like Madrid or Bayern.

Hopefully, his family has settled in London and put pressure on him not to move. otherwise, he's probably gone in 1-2 years.
Nah i think hazard loves jose. Theres so many interviews where eden talks positively about him and vice versa.

The only way we can keep eden is if we win the champions league in the next 2 seasons lol
It all depends how well you do in the Champions League players like Hazard want to win everything. If he thinks he can do that at Chelsea he'll stay if not he might move.
It's all about winning our next two games and clinching the title into our hands. Not about this beautiful thing bs.
Thanks

like i said, people dont know the difference between defence and parking the bus. against barca in 2012, we parked the bus. after that its just defensive football but the haters will always call it parking this bus.
+4
@Guidas, exactly! When you're opponent is restricted to playing with the ball only in the middle and back 3rds, all their star players are constantly marked and taken out of the game entirely, and 70-80% of the opponent's passing is in and around the defence, I'd think that's more of tactical ability and discipline.

When your opponent is actually making plays and are passing it more around your box and making tons of chances, then yes, I'd say that's parking the bus. but that's not the case for Chelsea now a days.

@Buklau, Can't wait! we just have to close out the next two matches and we're home free! and we might see some youth players get some time in for our last games before the end.
I think if we do win the next two games, I can realistically see Jose playing 2-3 youth players.

We have a few first team players that really need starts, like Luis and Cuadrado, so Terry and Ivanovic will probably be shut down for the season as they've played far too much. Meaning Luis and LB, Azpi at RB, and Zouma and Cahill at CB.

This means that Christensen will probably become the third choice defender for either CB and RB.

RLC will probably come in for Cesc, as his season will also be shut down, along with Matic. We will most likely see a Ramires-Mikel-RLC midfield.

Hazard and Costa won't play anymore either. Meaning that Izzy Brown, could see game time.

Christensen, RLC, Brown, and maybe Solanke could get their first starts in the four games remaining. I'd like Jose to at the minimum start one of these four each of the last four games.

Will he do it? It will be telling, because he really has no reason no to. The league is won, our tired starters would benefit greatly from an early vacation/recuperation.

I don't want to see Hazard, Costa, Fabregas, Terry, Ivanovic and Matic starting any games after we win the title. They have played way, way too much football.
champione league is boring without english teams for real. i pray english teams come stronger next year and break this dominance. chelsea will give barca hell and it will be nice now pig is not even close barca level so boring to watch.
+2
Zlatan is such a liability for PSG in the big champions league games, he literally does nothing. Our game would'v been so different had he not been sent off. Cavani, for all his critics, atleast he doesn't go missing.
Have you forgotten that the team Barça is beating 5-1 is the team that beat you?

Don't be so sure you'll be able to give us 'hell'. English football is not what it used to be.
+7
With that front line they possess i don't think any team can give them hell.
Champions League will only be more boring without any English teams in the latter stages. More games will end up one sided, very few teams bring the passion for the game like English teams do.
^ that's really funny.why don't you guys give little more respect to the team which contains three of most deadliest front men there.Chelsea has lost because peg were better,it is simple..
+7
Psg are a good team, they were f****d in this tie because of injuries and suspension, against a top 2 team in Europe. They would never win with all their players anyway, but them being handicapped made it look so easy.

Doesn't change the fact Mourinho should have knocked them out again, but I'm not exactly crying over that now given our form/injuries/position in the league.
+6
What passion you guys are talking about ?

Liverpool showing the flag even before the match stated ? ( vs Real ) , arsenal committing Sunday league mistakes , city getting owned or Chelsea being too afraid to take chances away from home ?

Sorry didn't meant to disrespect any team here , but EPL teams need to up their game to show that passion which some people are talking about here .
+14
You can't apologize after doing the thing you say you are apologizing for.

The league was our number one objective, everything else was bonus, its as simple as that really.

I agree about the EPL teams needing to up thier game. Oh and ONE person talked about passion, don't see where you are getting "some" from.
+5
In football rivalries games aren't the same as normal fixtures
Chelsea vs barca is a classico in the Ucl
So i think it wouldn't have been easy for barca to beat chelsea
Messi has never scored against us because the chelsea barca games are verry tight so barca fans dont get big headed
Because in football everything is relative when it comes to specifique fixtures bayern beat barca 7 0 and bayern lost the next year 4 0 to madrid
+1
So chelsea barca unless it happens for real no one can predict based on barca or chelsea history against other teams
Champions League without english teams is perfect.
+3
Take a look at our boys vs. barca the past decade.. we are the better side in head to heads period!

I dunno ´bout the english teams missing, I think every team that have come this far in the competition deserve to be there...
However, PSG did not win over Chelsea, they drew twice and had and extra 30 minutes to get the goal they needed, once again raising questions about fairness of the away goal advantage.

Thing is, IMO, Chelsea were one of they teams that could win the cl trophy this year and PSG never were. So i guess i feel that barca already skipped a step ahead, back when we drew out ´gainst the french.
@robberyback2 Go back to your own forum you troll. you ain't getting any flame war on this page. We've got more class than that.

Honestly I agree with @Kokm1. Every team deserves to be there. and @Bluff is right that our main objective here was the EPL. I still don't think we have a deep enough bench to be one of the consistent UCL title challengers year after year. but now with the money coming in, I think we can do that with some good signings.

@malik, Apologies only work if you're actually sorry for what you said. it's like insulting someone then saying "don't take it personally". of course people will take it that way. and I'm not just saying this for Chelsea fans, but the others teams you mentioned as well.

The game vs PSG at home was at the height of our slump. and right when Mou changed our system to work more defensively. it takes a while to build up momentum when you change the way you play (Ask Man Untd fans if you don't understand that).

When it comes to the big games like CFC v Barca, those are basically UCL derbies. and like the saying goes, Form goes completely out the window. I mean @CFCforLife said it perfectly when he gave the example of Bayern, Barca, and Madrid. I think EVERYONE can attest that ANYTHING can happen in UCL knockout rounds.

And to my CFC family, don't get dragged into this Sh*t by the trolls. @Manuntdonelove had good intentions with the post, but a few random haters came on to mess with us. We're not worried about the UCL. it'll be there again next year.

let's just relax and look forward to our next match. Top of the league and sitting pretty. :D
KTBFFH
Good gosh. Guys, a United fan is the one making statements about Barca and Chelsea.

@Jeroen:
"Have you forgotten that the team Barça is beating 5-1 is the team that beat you?

Don't be so sure you'll be able to give us 'hell'. English football is not what it used to be."
-It was a united fan, not a chelsea fan who said that

@4ever:
"^ that's really funny.why don't you guys give little more respect to the team which contains three of most deadliest front men there.Chelsea has lost because peg were better,it is simple.."
-5 users posted before you, so who are the "guys" you are talking about? The only comment to disparage barca was from one united fan.
@Jeron
if you think you'd beat us 5-1, you are deluded. We are not PSG missing Thiago Silva and with the human muppet in defense.

We'd have parked the biggest bus known to man kind and watched you sweat it out for 180 minutes. Trust me, our out on loan CB had Suarez in his pocket last year.

We know how to play possession dominant teams, from City to United to Bayern to Barca. We have no problems playing without the ball, absorbing pressure, and hitting on the break.

I'd have loved to see Hazard skin Alves left and right. mouth-watering.
Can we end it here? Barca fans jumped the gun without reading the op post carefully.
What do you guys think most fans of other club complained about we parking the bus vs ManU. I guess most purist would like the game btw Barca vs PSG. Open game end to end. But PSG are 4 goals down. If they keep up playing like this they will concede more goals. You need to know the strength of your opponents and counter that strength. PSG are currently playing to Barca hands end to end, fast pace game and by the end of the final whistle the agg score could be 6-1
^ i remember my boy Ethio saying chelsea made psg look like strong team I guess he was right. they are not good enough to challenge the best teams.
They are good, Barca are just much much better. Also, they are missing one of their key players in Motta, they are a different side with him in midfield
They were missing motta. Veratti. Ibra.thiago in the first game.

I think after the first leg...the tie was over
3-0 game over for Porto
4-0 rofl damn
I'm 30 minutes late and both ties are dead and buried wtf lol
5-0 now
ah Geezer, you will be heavily criticized for that second goal. When he turns up he can win you games, but thats his main issue is that he doesn't turn up as much as he should :(
+2
Bayern already back in control after 20 minutes lol
PSG already 1 goal down in just 14mins. It's going to be along nite for Luiz and Co. PSG already out of the Champions league.
I fear for PSG the way they are making the game open ened to end. PSG will concede more goals.
the confidence from le 'arse is simply amazing and understandable. in any case this will make our victory or draw so much sweeter :)
+1
They're always confident. Always.
Since I've joined footytube in 2012, the gooners on footytube were always confident before we face them. They are wrong 90% of the time. With Mou as our manager they are always wrong lol.
+3
Not really, I just think we have the tools this time, we're not ill-equipped like the past. Though, having said that, anyone that discounts Mourinho would probably be an idiot. You guys could face Barca, Madrid and Bayern back to back, but with Mourinho as the head coach, you'll either have WWW/WWD/WDD/DDD (all the variations, just think of them) nothing else imo. And those 3 are the best teams in the world. There can be no higher praise.

Off topic:

Who else is hyped to see the Mayweather v Pacquiao fight?! I can't wait.... 2 weeks left.
+3
3 years too late this fight.
+3
One of the most hyped fights ever...i hope Mayweather loses lol
+4
Lol. Honestly, Mayweather only went for this fight as soon as Pacquiao hasn't been fighting as much. And since he's lost more often.

Moeb is right. 3 years way too late.

I'm with Raj on this one. Hope Pac-man KOs him. XD
+1
Yeah, Pacquiao 3 years ago would have been a different match. Hope Pacman beats Mayweather (I don't know why I dislike him)
+2
^ cause mayweather is a pussy
+2
Mayweather a pussy. Why not fight him when Pacman at his peak. Hes so damn old now lol its like an old Bret Hart vs John Cena.
+2
It's 3 years too late BUT it's still a huge fight. I'm 100% sure that both fighters will be at their best for this fight.

Mayweather is older than Pacquiao by the way. I'm rooting for Pacman because he is a humble guy and he is the underdog.
Pacquiao will win, underdogs got nothing to lose
Money Mayweather gotz this.
Mayweather is too cocky
Can't stand Mayweather. Would like to see Pacquiao knock his ass all the way back to Michigan!

Just like that image, Life is thing of perspective, someone will see thesame cup as half full, while someone else will see it has half empty.

This brings us to our performance against Utd. Firstly, this is my own perspective and while I may be in the minority here, I would still state it just for the records, although I think @SaucyMan11 shares the same views.

Please, spare the whole talk of "Tactical Brilliance", In my opinion, it was shambolic. Dont get me wrong, am I happy about the 3 points? Yes, but the question is how long will we play like that every time we play against a decent side.

If I am correct, the only time we have attempted to play attacking football against any "half-decent" side this season was against Tottenham and fair enough we lost, but you don't stop just because of a loss.

The hypocrisy of us the fans also make me laugh, WestHam plays like that against us and immediately we call it "19th Century Football" but when we do exactly the same thing, we call it "Tactical Brilliance", for 29% possession against an inexperienced CB of (Smalling & McNair) without Carrick in midfield.

What I don't get is the justification for such tactics, on paper, we were the better side, we had home advantage, In my opinion, we would have won had we played a more open and entertaining game.

Just for the records, I am happy we will win the league but the truth is that, just like City last season, we are winning the league not because we are dominant or brilliant but because the rest of the league has been utter crap and the performances of all EPL teams in europe is a testimony to that. I mean, the would be EPL champions, couldn't beat at 10-man PSG side at home, thesame PSG been dismantled by Barca.

----------------------------------------------------
Argument about the quality of players
----------------------------------------------------
This is the funniest argument ever, LVG is now starting to play good football, majorly with the same set of players Moyes was defending with. Truth is that, players would play and setup to the outlook dictated by the coach, Mou has been terribly failing in setting up for attacking games, every team will have injuries and players off form, so it is not an excuse.

----------------------
My Verdict
----------------------

I have been a CFC fan for the major part of my life and I am not impressed with the way our manager is handling our team, he never rotates enough and gives little or no confidence to players outside his "untouchable 11". I am so excited about our youth ranks, they are chunking out talents in the dozens (We just won the UEFA league & 'FA' cup) but because Jose is always defending and never rotates, we would sadly never see these talents make the leap into the first team.

And for the life of me, I dont care about records against the top 6, let us lose once in a while while we play good football, We cant keep defending anytime we play Liverpool, City, Utd, Southhampton, Tottenham, PSG, Atletico, Barca, Bayern etc.

Since I have been a CFC fan, I would say the last 2-3 years has seen us with more attacking talents than at any other stage in the Roman era at least, and yet we have played some of the appalling football in that same period.

Unlike so many, I am not fixated on trophies, we have won all there is to be won, I would rather have us starting building a legacy and have a philosophy to our football right now. Against Utd, we had nothing to lose, that match isn't a title decider in my opinion, we could have drawn and still not lose anything.

Just my two cent, feel free to disagree, just my own perspective.

No worries, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. how I see it is that; We are on a very poor run of form, not just players-wise, but also as a team (aside from Hazard and Thiabut). United were on a crazy run of form. And you can see exactly what they can do to a top team that is off-form when they played city. The Defensive style is really a tactical decision because we aren't hitting the same attacking highs we were in the 1st half of the season, so Mou thought to play to our strengths. Something we are known throughout the world for: our defence.

and no, the West Ham defending was very different as compared to ours, if you watch the two games again, you'll see that most of our possession vs WH was in our attacking third and they defended desperately with their keeper making quite a number of remarkable saves. but vs Man Untd, 70-80% of their possession was limited to plays in the middle third and in their defence.
I thing the article on WAGNH hit the nail on the head in regards to this topic. try and read it. it was a well written.

http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2015/4/19/8452001/jose-mourinho-chelsea-vs-manchester-united

Also, as for the youth players, it's not true that we won't see much of our youth players. Mou already pointed out that we'll be seeing more of them. singling out RLC to be given a more involved role in the team next season.

here's some excerpts of what he said:

http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2015/4/19/8452001/jose-mourinho-chelsea-vs-manchester-united

in the end, while it's completely fine that you have your own views, I politely disagree. there really is so much happening in the background of CFC that the fans don't see that we assume various things.

so let's all just take a step back and relax. it's our first EPL trophy in 5 years! we got a cup, and are almost assured that our player will win POTY (barring any travesty the FA can come up with). I'd say that is a cause for celebration and not so much criticism. :D
+4
Yea it depends on the fan. Mourinho is a tactical manager. He is not known for his open football in big games. Mourinho will not change.

With different managers, you will get different styles. Pep for example likes his teams to keep the ball (bores me to death, but thats my opinion). (also inb4 barca fans)

Also you need to understand the pressure on mourinho. Chelsea is about winning every game.
There is a lot of pressure on managers to deliver.

And since there is so much competition in PL you cant afford to lose. Thats why the younger guys dont get a go.

Its a difficult one. But Mourinho is not gonna change bro. When you say you are a minority, you are definitely right.
Thierry was asked this question on Sky and even he disagrees with you lol
Sky reporter: thierry if arsenal won the title with 30 % posession in all games winning by the odd goal, would it matter to you?

Thierry: no it wouldnt

Anyway we still have the most goals in the league Lol
@ElChico: Thanks for your articulate response and Its well received.

However, If you justify this game that we are "off form", what of every other time we played any team in the top 6 this season? Or even last season apart from the "6-0" victory against arsenal.

Personally, I am not against playing defensively "once in a while" as occasion may demand, but making it a "lifestyle" is what I question. I honestly, cant recall the last time we played a fluid game against any team in the top 6. (Last memory is game against everton this season and they are not even in the top 6 this season).

As for the youths, I would love to hold Mou to his words but going by historical antecedence, I honestly dont expect much. Anyway, thats just me.

And yes, barring any "Fraud" by the FA, i think Eden deserves the POTY.
No worries. i actually think we tried to play that type of football for the whole season. I mean we did it for at least one half of it. But ever since the Spurs game, I guess Mou noticed that we could continue to play that way the whole season and be consistent. I even think we tried a few times this half of the season, but we couldn't hit those hieghts again.
And in my opinion we don't have the team that can do that yet. We don't have a deep enough bench, and at this point we want to just get over he line. Whether it's in the football purist kind of way, or just grinding out results like we have been.

And I mean, Paraphrasing from (probably the most successful manager in the EPL ever) Sir Alex Ferguson;
you have to win playing ugly as well, to win titles.
Pragmatism is our philosophy. No club has ever built a legacy without trophies. If it was possible to build legacies just based on pretty football, Swansea and Wigan would be dynasties right now.

I am an engineer, and I know that has nothing to do with football, but my outlook on life has always been pragmatic. I, for one, feel extremely lucky to be living in a time when the team I love follows the same principle in football. It was not always like that.

We went to Liverpool earlier this season, gave it as good as we got, and won the game. The same at United, barring the last 15 mins of the game, where, understandably, we tried to close the game out.

I find it incredibly disingenuous that you find it necessary to discredit the team by saying, we are winning because of the mediocrity around us. It also implies that you are discounting the football we played in the first 6 months of the season, which was easily, the best in the league.

I respect the fact that you have an opinion that is different than the majority, mine included, but I sincerely disagree with you. Mainly because, this whole philosophy nonsense is another word for lazy management. We play A. We will always play A. I don't care if you stop us from playing A. We'd rather lose than play B, but we will not give up A.

This is precisely the reason why Liverpool gave the title away last season, and what got AVB the sack, and why the 4 4 2 fails in Europe consistently. Meh.

Im afraid, till Mourinho is in charge, you are in for a lot of disappointment, as far as the 'perceived quality' of Chelsea's football in 'big' games goes.
+5
Mourinho on January 1st 2015 decided to be arrogant and show no respect to Spurs, he played exactly how we play the small teams with Fabregas flying out of position and Matic alone in midfield. You don't need me to tell you how that game ended.

For a more recent example, look at what Hull City did to our defence when we play high line, and they're a relegation team lol.

Chelsea defenders are used to defensive football, Mourinho likes defensive football. Match made in heaven.
@Sam I partly agree with you. I would love to see Chelsea playing a more proactive style against the big boys. However, I would only do that when we are in form and our team is more complete. Sometimes a tactical approach is warranted.

The games that i felt that we could have done better was at old trafford, Etihad and against PSG. Those were games we should have won. This game at Stamford Bridge however merits Mourinho's tactical approach. Utd were in top form while we were not at our best. We neutralised Young, Fellaini, Hererra, Rooney all in top form. Their threat mostly came from shaw. We took 1 more step towards the title and demoralised any title challengers at the same time. FWIW this time I approve of Mourinho's tactics.
Fair enough Sam, fair enough

This debate is quite interesting but you are in the minority 5-10% i would say.

I get what you are saying, but I think we should give the team some time, just wait till we get over this title hurdle, and then see the confidence that surges through this side next season. Bold prediction: I think we will go on to retain the title next year with style.

Mourinho has an insane record against the top flight teams, 1 loss in like 30 games or so, hes not gonna change anytime soon, but with new additions/more confidence to the side, our counter play will definitely improve. Have faith. This side imo is lacking a lot of mental strength, Mourinho is carrying this team over the line (although they have looked better in recent weeks).

"I mean, the would be EPL champions, couldn't beat at 10-man PSG side at home, the same PSG been dismantled by Barca"

Just wanted to add to this, say w/e you want about that game, we were horrible, but we didn't lose that game or the tie. And against us they had argubally Europe's best midfield firing on all cylinders in Verrati, Motta and Matuidi. Two of these three were missing against Barca (not to mention Ibra and Thiago Silva). So it wasn't a shock that Barca steamrolled them in midfield.
