Arsenal tiptoe into the Diego Zone: the ogre of Stamford Bridge awaits

https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2017/may/26/arsenal-chelsea-diego-costa-ogre-of-stamford-bridge?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Copy_to_clipboard

Nice read. My best paragraph

"No other centre-forward has made anywhere near as many dribbles. No player at a top-six club has had as many crosses and shots or made anywhere near as many clearances, or laid on more assists than Costa’s seven while playing as a centre-forward"

We must keep Costa.

Nowadays United and City spending big for new transfers actually makes me happy. It is because I trust my team and manager. it will be even sweeter if we finish on top next season.
Our season is not over! We have another trophy to win!
Nowadays? Its been happening since last 5 seasons actually.
@bazinga: that's the point; two years back we were good and I got scared when City and United added new players. This year I am not cuz I am very confident about our team and manager giving a good fight.
I predict Kante to win his 3 consecutive PL title next season.
"It would be great to do this, but in modern football it is very difficult to stay for a long time in the same club. But if you have the opportunity to stay for many years and improve your work, for a coach it is the best solution to stay at a club and to build something important.”

“Modern football is dangerous and our job depends a lot on the result. The only way that I know is to try to convince the club to stay for a long time is to work. Work very hard with my players, for sure it is my hope.”

-Antonio Conte
Apparently Chinese club is not interest in Costa anymore. Looks like he might actually stay.
nah, they will come back and this time take him without any fuss lol
Luiz - "I cut my salary to come back here. But it's OK. God has given me a lot so I'm very happy with this."

Respect, because not many players will agree to take pay cut especially not during prime age.

He has won PL , CL , Europa & FA cup in 4 years at Chelsea

So city signed Silva for 43m and now going for Mendey ..That was fast LOL!

I hope we can close our deals sooner and not wait till deadline day like last season
and city fires the first shot in the transfer window shoot-out
Sliva will be great addition for city...but i will not be worried as long as city dont upgrade defense and GK issue. Pep's ego is too big and he wants to prove everyone that team can win without proper defensive organization...Lets see if it will cost him again
I'm pretty sure they release caballero clichy and sagna too? they're going to buy defenders. They wanted bailly last summer and didn't sign anyone after he chose us. There are rumors they want van dijk (cb), mendy (lb), and donnarumma (ac milan keeper).
I doubt Milan will sell Donnarumma. van dijk and Mendy will be great addition though.

Thank god we won the league this year. Next season Manchester teams will go all out. Unless we buy someone like Alexis & Morata it would be very very hard to defend the title. I already feel sorry for Spurs who will seriously struggle playing at Wembley and keeping-up with biggies
I just read BBC's article on silva, 43 million pounds, and city are expected to sign kyle walker from Spurs.
Wasn't Bernado Silva our target at one point?
He was as per rumors Bokiya...43m is a great deal. I was expecting 60m atleast
Kyle walker can play tikqu taka? I don't think so.. neither can he play DM
Good luck to Pep In his search for full back who can double up as DM and also play tikqu taka
Wait, Walker to City?
Tbh, Walker probably wasn't Pep first choice but the club has to remember that we can't sign too many foreign based players. Walker is an English player that's actually really good and he wants to join us. His not my first pick but I don't see the club stopping from buying him.

Will Walker fit our syteam? We need FBs that can bomb up and down the field, in terms of the ball at his feet, he can learn. If Pep can turn Sterling into a quality talent and make Yaya actually run and do his defensive duties, I'm sure he can educate Walker.
if you recall pep's barca team, he wants his fullbacks to provide width, he doesnt need walker to be iniesta. he has to get in behind the defense and provide decent crosses. walker is a beast and hella fast, he would do real damage in that city side with all the good passers to find him on his runs
and wait why is bernardo silva a good deal at 43 million but not martial at like 36 million two summers ago?
Any deal is a good deal if the player goes all guns blazing.

Martial was a good deal.
i thought Martial was 50m with add-ons where as Sliva seems to be straight forward 43m deal.

Anyways i think Martial does not have a future at united...The moment Jose starts criticizing a player publicly it means time to start counting days. Him and Shaw will be shipped very soon

Gerizmann , Zlatan , Rashford , Mihky , Mata , one more new forward will fightfor 3 attacking spots up-front. Martial will accept bench role like this season? I doubt
martial came on for the final, sure it was only a few minutes, but he's definitely still in the managers plans. he also praised martial after spurs. the talent is there and mou recognizes it, he just wants more energy and workrate out of him off the ball, which is a fair request.
Silva has helped Monaco win the title and reach CL semis eliminating some top teams in the process so better value for money.

Conte alluded in his pc earlier today that himself and the Club are already working on adding to the squad on a way that suggests talks have been had with potential signings. I dont expect any announcement until after the FA cup final so as not to disturb the harmony in the squad.

Since 04/05 season we have won more games, recorded the fewest losses, scored more goals, conceded the least amount of goals and amassed more points than any team that has featured in the league in that time.

We are creating our own history breaking and creating records in the process. Thanks Roman

+2
More goals cant be possible? Arsenal , United , Pool and city always played best football in league. Chelsea always won titles parking bus and winning 1-0.

These stats are misleading...How can we score more goals than mighty Arsenal.?
Cos after 2004, we turned to s**t basically :)
Lol i saw that Arsenal have actually scored 1 more than us since 2004-2005. But unfortunately they have conceded 90 more.
Best stat there is the most goals scored lol. Boring boring Chelsea!
Any chances of landing dybala next season?
ZER0
0
about 10% chance.
Lower than 0%

He doesn't even fit the current system.
Agree with Theo. Dybala doesnt not have the stamina to run up and down the wings to help out the defence
Pep just released Clichy, Zabaleta, Caballero,Sagna and Navas. Looks like it's going to be a crazy summer guys. I'm very excited
I'm glad we have other teams in PL who can go neck to neck with United and city in transfer market. which means they might not get all the targets even if they are ready to splash more money.

Even the non PL teams like Barca , Bayern , Real , Juve , Inter , Milan & PSG are in market and will make it hard for them to get all targets.

Luckily we dont have to sign too many players like them..I think we will close our deals before preseason with max 3 new signings and 3 loan army players returning.
with the exception of chelsea who can go neck to neck with United? the 4 players we signed last season turned down PL rivals to join us.
City can certainly go neck to neck to with united in terms of attracting big names.

I think Liverpool & Arsenal might finally spend big this window....because its now or never for both.

If rumors are ture Firmino,Mane were united targets the season before? I think Klopp & Poch can attract some big players too.
@Somere, teams that finish above 6th... lol

Conte has quietly eased Terry out of the team, sold off Oscar,Mikel and Ivanovic withing half a season and still win the league and get to the FA Cup final. I think its quite remarkable considering that 3 of those players are the longest serving members of the sqaud and therefore Legends in their own right. Selling those players makes this summer an easier one in terms of tranfers because most players we would have had to sell off are gone already and we can focus on additions and maybe a couple of youngsters to send on loan.

I'm happy that most big clubs will spend big and I think the way we won the league with Spurs finishing 2nd will scare them into splashing even bigger than they would love to. It will then mean that the pressure is on them and like Mourinho was bragging earlier this season that his team is going for the league title of course prompted by his outrageous spend on "Dab" and "Ego". He thrives when he is the underdog but when he outspends everybody he will have no excuse but to win the title and that is where I'd rather have him.

I hope we can spend wisely which I think we have been doing for years now- see Hazard, Kante- and I trust Conte to go for players he needs for the formations he will be using next season.
firmino was not a united target.

^ego was free mr salty
Ya United were never in for him in the first place ;)

The new seeding system of putting all champions in pot 1 in the CL is so weird. Barca, Athletico and PSG in pot 2 behind the likes of benfica, shaktar, Moscow.
Now despite being in pot 1 we will have one of Barca, PSG, dortmund, athletico, sevilla or Porto in our group.
We will likely get a tougher group than City and United.
I hope we get into same group as Barca but want other two teams to be easy ones.
Yeah current Barca aren't that scary. It depends what they do this summer.
Dont mean to sound arrogant but this season's CL and EL have been the weakest in years. Ajax and Monaco going so far in both competitions shows how much the big teams have regressed.

With good signings I believe we can beat any team especially over two legs and with a bit of luck lift the big eared trophy next season.
+4
I can't help but agree ^
+6
" this season's CL and EL have been the weakest in years"

that's easy to say when you're not in the competition. you knock monaco but they've just won ligue a despite cavani's amazing goal record this season.

point is monaco got to the SemiFinal because they knocked out manchester city, and we all know city can beat any team in the league.
+1
Current Barca aren't that scary huh? lmao I'm sure ManU would easily winn against them huh?
+1
SIF - Monaco beat city because they have become Arsenal 2.0 under Pep and very easy to score against. I think even a team like Leicester city had better chance against Monaco because they showed it against Sevilla who by no means are easy and also gave tough fight to Athletico.

Spurs , Roma and United were 3 strong teams in Europe this season and only one made to finals...other two big time bottlers
+1
did i say it be easy win? compare to there squad in the past they are weaker. Messi had to bail them out a lot this season
+1
"City can beat anyone in the league"

So can Crystal Palace. Its not like City dominated their rivals over two legs in the PL this season. They finished 8 points behing Spurs and 15 behind Chelsea that is a huge gap. City went to the semis last season with more or less the same squad so they have regrsssed massively in that respect.

Monaco are exciting but its fair to say PSG are on the wane and that is why they have won the league.
crystal palace would never even make it out of a CL group stage, you know what i meant. City would have strong odds of beating anyone in the league in a one off game, or a two legged tie. mona deserve respect for achieving what they did.
