Bear in mind that Drogba hasnt played competitive consistent football quite awhile. He will get back his sharpness with more appearance. Despite his obvious decline in pace ,strength, he's still a classy and quality player.

- He still have that instict in front of goal even though he was unlucky not to score that 1v1 chance (awesome thru ball by Hazard).

- classic Drogba knock down for hazard in the first half.

- He still get into good attacking position.(brilliant play by Willian on the right with a hard low cross)

And Be thankful that we have Costa and Remy as alternatives!

Today's draw is nothing to be ashamed of. We fought hard and we were only so unlucky in front of goal. Schalke did capitalize their chance. I think 99.9% of people here understand the condition with Drogba being older than most of professional footballers and we are still proud of him to be here. And we all know that 0.1% here. Schalke should be mad that they almost lost to a team with a 36 year old striker up front. :p
Drogba should have got on the end of the Willian cross. And Fabregas missed an open goal pretty much. Hazard also had two chances which you'd expect him to put away with ease. Then there were 2 goal line clearances. Just need to be more clinical.

bare in mind that Schalke couldn't put on a entire squad for this game. EVERYONE and I mean, EVERYONE here in germany thought Schalke would get trashed, because of their domestic form and looooooong list of injured players. When I saw Chelsea's formation I know Mou didn't bring out the best starting XI because he thought the line-up might suffice against this weakened Schalke team (which hasn't won a single game this season yet).

so Schalke is moooooore than happy to take away that point.

Mourinho should be mad for taking those 3 points for granted.

Keller was on the verge of losing his job if he lost yesterday.

Steevex: "I know Mou didn't bring out the best starting XI" - Not really true with the exception of Drogba. Most likely that same team will verse City on Sunday with Azpi and Costa instead (and maybe Oscar for Willian), it was hardly a weakened team. Costa was also unfit and Mou did say it is unlikely that Costa will play 3 games a week, so it was the strongest we had under the circumstances (except we should have played Remy in place Didi)
@Steveex We are very generous team. Now Keller can keep his job (for now).
I thought Drogba did fine considering his fitness level and age.

He did well making decoy runs in order for the 3 attacking midfielders behind him to get space. The only thing lacking was the finish.
I think Mourinho has to take some blame for the draw:

1. It's a Champions League match against the strongest team of your group. If you don't want to play the in form on fire striker, at least play the scored a goal 9 minutes after coming on in his debut striker, rather than a legend but not that great and actually is third choice striker. That Costa us :P

2. Remy was playing LW the last few minutes, with Hazard switching to the right. I didn't like this. Hazard was really playing well on the left, why change that? I'd have played Schurrle right, and Hazard would've stayed left.

3. He stopped the ball with his feet towards the end. He should have taken a touch, and BOOM! Scored :D (1 and 2 are serious though :P)
@Niru

"Costa has a problem and he can’t play three matches in a row at the moment. If he has one week to let the muscle recover he can start a game, like he did after picking up the problem with the national team. But, after playing on Saturday three days is not enough time for him to recover."

Pelligrini thinks he's trolling us by announcing Lampard will play but our Blues will show no mercy. We all have an afinity for Lampard, how could we not? But it doesn't mean we'll let him do what he wants. we let him go because we had younger better options and we should not go into this with thoughts of who's loyal to what club because of the past. If he does start, advantage Chelsea. The only reason Pelligrini would do this is because he thinks it would give them a mental edge over us.

I think Pelligrini knows we have the edge over them and he's trying to find something to exploit. don't be surprized to see some of the City players try to get under Costa's skin by taking some cheap shot's at him while the ref isn't watching. This will be a battle, but one that we know we can win. Which is why I expect it to get ugly. Mike Dean will be the ref and he'll be looking for any oportunity to screw us as he has in the past. If our lads keep their composure we'll walk away with all 3 points. We won't be getting any help from the officials. This one will come down to mental fortitude.

I hope Pellegrini saw how Lampard played against Arsenal because he was lost.
Costa thrives on a physical battle, good luck City defenders...
I hope Lampard starts. Would love to see Ramires run passed him in midfield.

But im sure its Yaya----Fernandinho
It made me sick to see him in sky blue. That being said, he's earned the right to do whatever he wants.
I love when Pelle tries mind games. It's cute lol
@CHELSEA61

Can you explain how Chelsea have the edge over City at the etihad? It would be a shame if guys play like stoke did at the etihad by parking 10 men behind the ball

I just want to be entertaining by watching an attacking football on sunday
I am a bit confused of our defense...
so..did we play high line & what is exactly called that high line?
Exactly as it sounds. The defense play higher up the pitch which goes hand in hand with the offside trap. It requires (in most cases) the CB's to have a bit of pace in order to be able to recover from playing a bit further from the keeper. Effective on attack, but can leave your team exposed to accurate long balls.
Yea. Our defence is bad atm. Whem defending we're all over the place.

Terry and Cahill are either too near, too far. Something need to be done to fix the defense that was a force last season
I really think that Azpi is better RB. Ivanovich offers different dimension to attack but he leaves so much space in the back.

Azpi Cahill Terry Luis please
Next game is City.. and our defence is still ... that... shaky
Do you really know Costa?

I got 5/10 btw
although we love and respect king DD, he is getting on and he was very frustrating to watch.

I've been on the Chelsea forum 3 times or so today and literally every time I've been on it I've seen you insult Drogba or other players, even calling him Donkey at one point.

Have some respect man, Drogba wasn't brought back to be the star striker like he used to be. He has a different role to fill now. And he needs some time to adapt into a new Chelsea side tbh. If Costa picks up an injury, you'll be grateful you guys got him back.

Talking points
------------------
1) Half a dozen easy chances missed (2 goal line clearances), we won't miss like that every game
2) Switched off and became too comfortable, won't happen again i'm sure
3) DD's first game back, he's not the same player like before, give him time, BUT i don't know why Mourinho started him and didn't take him off sooner, rare mistake by the special one.
4) Better that we drew here than in the Premiership
5) Hazard Cesc partnership, dayum
6) Little annoying but lets dwell on a truly poor performance, tonight wasn't a poor performance, we were just unlucky, on another night we beat them comfortably.
7) Both Porto & Inter started their Champions League winning campaigns (in Mourinho's second season) with a draw
When both Costa and Remy came on, we looked like a completely different team. Dominated the middle, and attack. The goal didn't come but we didn't lose.
Both goals today involved Fabregas getting mixed up in a hustle.
The last ten minutes I don't even know what that formation was. Looked like 4-2-1-3 with Hazard getting a free role. His performance today was awesome, he should have gotten one goal.
what I dont understand whys Mourinho benched Willian so far ?!!!!! and Filipe, and Ramires.

Willian is such a class when hes on the ball, speed, ball control, driblings, one word world-class ! far better than Schurlle no ofence !
+1
..well i disagree, schurrle is a greater goal threat for sure. but hey, what a luxury problem to have such great players to sub in hehe. great squad this season!
+4
I also prefer Willian to Schurrle and Oscar, I would use Schurrle as a impact sub like germany did in the world cup but Willian is the smarter more technical player, his passing always sharp and rarely loses possesion
Willian started today BTW. We have depth at mid-field like we haven't had since 2004. Willian will feature in almost all the big games because of his defensive work rate. We'll be playing 2 games a week for the next few weeks and almost everyone on the roster with the exception of the reserves will get their fair share of playing time. Relax and take a breath, it's a long season.
Willian might seem the more energetic player when compared to Oscar but I think the reason Mou starts Oscar is because of his intelligence when pressing. Whenever Oscar starts he always seems to kick start our pressing game and dies it brilliantly. He is also a better tackler than Willian and knows when to slot into any space vacated by a forward rrunning team mate. Mou is a very experienced coach and he will always start the better player. The only change I envusage from now would be Schurlle dropping to the bench for Willian.
Apparently some people whining about all other English teams dropping points and the dive :P win against best team in the Europe 'FK Razgrad 2000'.... I cant wait for Real to destroy them and bring them back to mother earth :P
