So Welbeck went from being ready after the international break to being out for months. Only at the Arsenal
What do you expect with the "best medical team in the world"?
+1
Noooooooooo!!!

I was really really looking forward to seeing him play again.
+1
good thing we signed a striker this window. oh wait....
#he'llbelikeanewsigning
+4
Wenger. "I don't have hindsight like the big clubs".
^ spending 57m on a 19 yr old striker is hindsight???
he could've spend 60m on Benzema or Cavani or Laca or whatever earlier on the transfer window.
Oh God, yesterday all over again.

It's an expensive insurance policy that I definitely don't agree on.
and how do u know the clubs would of sold??? and why do people mention Lacazette in the same bracket as the others, he scored a lot of goals, in the same league as giroud did, yet OG gets soo much hate lmao
+2
Lol giroud out scored zlatan in the French league and won it with Montpellier! That's crazy. And gets so much hate
+2
we're not comparing OG to anyone, he's one of a kind.

OG is a great CF, one of the best CF that can hold up plays and his technique is amazing them first touches.

What we needed was a different type of Striker, against certain teams, Giroud's style doesn't work.

OG is one of my favorite player at Arsenal.
JC our lord and savior now...Bendtner who? :) :| ;(
Apparently the Martial deal will go up to 58m, unbelievable, for a 19 year old, feel sorry for the kid. Too much weight to handle.
it will go up to 58 if he wins the ballon d'or, wins the league, wins multiple scoring titles in england. if all that happens then i'd say it was worth it.
+1
^ But if he doesn't, the initial fee would seem too much regardless. It's a very big gamble from LvG and United, and as an Arsenal fan, I'm kinda hoping it doesn't pay off because that would be a meltdown I would love to see tbh lol
+1
there's not a soul in the world that would tell you he isnt overpriced. it's obvious.

at the same time, sterling, 20 years old, for 49 million is surely overpriced, too. shaw at 30 million follows the same suit. overpriced doesnt mean he's not a quality addition. only time will tell.
Welbeck being out means we'll get to see Joel Campbell alot more this season.
+1
The Jeff and Campbell show begins
+1
Now we're stuck with ONE natural CF lol

Hopefully Walcott can step up as well as Campbell, whom should take #9 already!
This all feels so scripted, i just knew it was going to happen...hopefully JC can pull off a coq
+2
Actually we have two CF, joel campbell can play on top on his own, he did that for olympacios and for costica rica at the world cup, the difference between him and Giroud, he has more pace and more dribble ability, while Giroud has height and strength over him, which is good against tall and strong defenders, but also a disadvantage bcos he gets fouled alot and the refrees don't call it, with joel we will more free kicks given.

Welcome to Arsenal
sigh .... we knew this would happen !!! Injury injury and injury
what's that now? we didn't need to sign a striker? We,ve got Welbeck who's coming back so a striker is not a priority.

Pathetic, and still these idiots will find some bullshit excuse to defend the manager and how it's not his fault.

We've got one recognized striker now! one! In his mind he probably thinks we can still win the title.
chill dude, we're not idiots. I understand your frustration.
There goes Welbeck. No return date after the surgery.

http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/20150903/danny-welbeck-undergoes-knee-surgery
Jeez. Coming to Arsenal was the worst mistake of his life.
initiation ritual went to another level. take care wele
Real shame. I'm still a big fan of Welbeck and wanted him to succeed at Arsenal. Hopefully he comes back strong from this injury.
+1
well now it makes sense why you've kept campbell. this was obviously a decision in the works for a while. makes it even more suspect that you didnt sign a striker though. now giroud's the only one in your squad.
+1
Jesus! I feel bad for him and Arsenal fans.. Sad sad news!
+1
the way I see it, its a good thing that he's having his surgery now, early in the season. Ease him back in around Christmas or sooner.
+1
I feel bad for Arsene. Fans are gonna throw their toys out the window.
am with YG better to lose him now while we still have options then lose them all at once..this is as good as it gets for us
+1
@GSS like past 11 years. lol same stuff
Crazy money for teenagers in the PL...how will this end?

Heidel, Manager of Mainz 05, spoke about how the PL money will impact the Bundesliga, and if that will be a problem. He said no. British clubs offered more players to Bundesliga clubs this summer than ever before, but the players wanted too much money, so the transfers didn't happen. And in 2-3 years the PL won't be able to sell their players to foreign clubs. But other clubs in the PL won't take those either because they don't want them (not good enough/ maxed out squad). He thinks that it will stagnate or the clubs will pay even more for compensation than for transfers to release players from their contracts.

I think he has a point. It can isolate the PL from everyone else. And as always, the market will regulate itself, the bubble will burst and prices will go down....maybe taking clubs with it in the process. It could end badly for clubs that invest a lot of money now without looking ahead.

I truly admire Arsenal for their philosophy, not only in terms of tactics and style of play but also transfer politics. I know that everybody wants new players, especially if the opponent just bought that high profile player, but if anyone is saving football then it's Arsenal. At least on such a high level. Anyone can do that in an amateur league.
Alright, time for comments like 'We won't win the league by being the romantic saviours of football' ^^

We won't win the league by being the romantic saviours of football.
Ye I think bubble should burst eventually, market cannot go up and up.. Makes sense what you saying. If PL overpays their players, why would they leave to get paid less? Eventually it will be a problem to sell.
Also if you got money doesn't mean you have to spend it all.
People forget that Wenger has a masters in economics and he know's exactly what he's doing when it comes to transfers and spending money in a correct manner. The bubble will definitely burst, if it hasn't already started to (Andy Carrol, Torres, Di maria etc.)...The amount of money clubs like Man citeh and united are spending is absurd- even Chelsea who are known for splashing the cash have started to cut back and invest "wisely" in their youth and build around their core team. Personally, this is how football should be. Capitalism is killing this game and teams are none the wiser about managing their deep pockets, tragic to say the least.

Francois01, take all my thumbs up! This is a point that lots of people, including many Arsenal fans, either fail to grasp or refuse to accept.

I know people will say that long term planning is fine but it doesn't help us succeed in the short term. Although this is true, I would rather see us struggle now than do a Leeds in the future.
+1
I have no problem with Wenger's transfer policy. Its his general on field Naivety that has always bothered me. He can't react meaningfully mid game on a consistent basis. He's probably the world best coach at economics and man management but he'll get beat by a smart tactician fairly easily. SAF and Mou have proved this constantly.
should go into "business management" lol
One word. Adebayor. Perfect example of what will happen in the comming years when it comes to players who fail at their clubs. This is why I've been saying this for years we NEED a cap on transfers and definitely a cap on player wages. Players Union and Court will fight it but you can't stand their not trying!
with utd, we've accepted lower fees to accomdate higher wages our players demand. thats how hernandez got sold for 7 million, nani for 4 million, rvp for 5 million etc.
SIF that means united wanted to get rid of them real bad and immediately. Why such hurry?
SIF, it comes to a point where the player would want too much wages to leave the club, like GSS said, its Adebayor, a shadow of the former self, getting paid a ridiculous amount, why would he wanna leave?
@Francios01 Thank you for being a voice of reason, wenger loves the club and he is looking out for clubs best interest, but we have many that don't really care, they look at chelsea, mancity and manchester, and want us to follow the same philosophy all for the sake of winning a trophy, a club is much more than trophies, if they win one it is a bonus imo, but today is all about trophy now in some fans eyes, so they don't care if the club is hurt financially as long as they get their precious.

I feel short term gory long term suffering, look at united now, they were the beacon to follow, i so surprised how far the exs let things get out of hand with the over spending imo, buy dimaria one season for a lot money then let him go the next smh
@GSS: Kind of agree with the capping of wages/transfers...although it's sad that everything has to be regulated. When you think about it, that could leave quite an amount of money for other things: Better/bigger stadiums, better infrastructure in general, more money for the youth development, less debt, less madness in silly season, etc.
Does anyone know how the Roma fans are treating Wojo?
They seem delighted after his save against Juve
+1
They're launching a campaign for Roma's Smoker's Club. Shez 4 prez!!! Their motto: You don't have to wait til after hours to smoke in the showers.

Say if Cech wasn't available and happened to stay at Chelsea, I wonder if we would have made zero signings this window.
yes^ lol 0 signings.

If we can play like 2nd half of last season, we'll be 100% fine with the addition of Cech.

Henry knows Wenger tried to sign players he want, but unfortunately he couldn't. He didn't panic and brought ANY players at ANY price, instead he stuck with this current team and put 100% of his trust in them.

It's up to the team now to back their manager Arsene Wenger up with performance!
+3
chances are we would have gone for Lloris
^ lol what chances?
^ Lol. Negative zero chances. Forgive my fellow Gooner. Peterz forgot his meds :).
+1
didn't say our chances were high:p
