Heurelho Gomes pulls out of Brazil squad with injury
Associated Press - 3 years ago

The Brazilian football federation has announced that the Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has been dropped from Brazil's squad because of a right leg muscle injury.

Gomes sustained the injury with Tottenham in the team's 4-0 win over Young Boys in the Champions League on Wednesday.

He will be replaced by the 17-year-old Cruzeiro goalkeeper Gabriel, who has been playing with Brazil's youth squads.

The Brazil squad will meet for a five-day training camp in Barcelona starting on 2 September. The five-time world champions will play practice matches, but no friendlies have been scheduled for the period.

The 29-year-old Gomes was Brazil's reserve goalkeeper at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Internazionale's Júlio César was first choice.
