Just fyi, when you go an asian place, you can completely get away with a 10% tip. At least that's what my family and almost every Chinese family does. Most asian places know they're not providing amazing service so don't expect much....
Oh, on a more personal note, I work with people with disabilities so I don't mean to be a stickler but I try to stay away from the word "retard" because a lot of the people I work with have been called that their whole lives. It's something that just falls out of people's mouths these days but I'm trying to make a push to stop it. I could care less if people cuss like there's no tomorrow but when they start using groups of people as derogatory terms, I try to draw the line. Obviously, ultimately the choice is yours just thought I'd drop my two cents. Cheers
My brother was recently at a Chinese restaurant and they put a huge bowl of hot soup right in front of his 11 month-old kid and he's like "Don't put that there". So the waiter gave him cut eye and attitude. My brother doesn't take much crap so he got up and just started screaming at the waiter. That's the kind of stuff you expect from a Chinese place!
But I can understand your frustrations since you're in the industry! It's like "You're doing it all wrong and you want me to tip you?!"
My favorite Pho place is Golden Turtle (Central Pkwy and Confederation). They used to have awesome spring rolls but they're not as good!

If you go into downtown Toronto, the original Asian Legend just west of Beverly on Dundas is the best Asian Legend. There's also a great lobster place on Baldwin called Hua Sang (it's down a set of stairs). One dish is two lobsters and they have a good crab there too.
If you hit up Markham or Scarlem I have no idea where to go! Hahaa, things are always changing there and new restaurants pop up all the time. One of the popular chains now is Congee Queen which is pretty good too!
