lol, congratz as well I really wish this to Ronaldo, he's been missing this and it makes his career even more unbelievable. But COME ON, how was this legendary? Worst Euro in a long time for detached observer (not even considering David Guetta, lol).

I had no go at Messi, so don't put me into some 'Arsenal fans' sack, butt-hurt guy. What has Messi to do with this? Stay on topic.

They kept them quiet? They had over 15 shots, with Griezmann and Gignac having clear scoring chances, that they bottled. That's hardly legendary. And I'm not denying guy like Pepe, that he was prolly the best player of the tournament, but for me legendary is stuff that few generations won't forget. Messi, Ronaldinho, CRonaldo, Ronaldo, etc., France '98, Brazil 2k2.

Portugal winning this tournament will become 'just' a statistic, nothing memorable on their route for the title. NOTHING.

Ofc it's always gonna be 'legendary' for the nation, that won it, same for Greece in 2004, but DDDDDWD is hardly awesome, it's plainly boring.
LOL original comment that was removed said "Congrats Portugal on the legendary win"

Guess this troll above could not stand Portugal winning so had to come into portugal's page trash talk the win, report to mods and have the comments removed. Well played and full of class
so the comment below shows how excited i was because paulo bento left. but i have to say that i am even more excited with the list of players released today september 3, 2014. and here it is ::::::::::::

Guarda-redes::::::::::::::::Rui Patrício, Anthony Lopes e Beto
Defesas:::::::::::::::::Bruno Alves, Cédric, Eliseu, Fábio Coentrão, Ivo Pinto, José Fonte, Pepe, Ricardo Carvalho e Antunes
Médios::::::::::::::::Adrien, André Gomes, João Moutinho, João Mário, Tiago e William Carvalho
Avançados:::::::::::::::Vieirinha, Cristiano Ronaldo, Danny, Éder, Nani e Ricardo Quaresma

this is a great first group he definitely got a bunch of players that are in top form at the moment and called them up for these 2 games. i can't wait to see how these players mix and if they are able to create a team.

so heres my 11 for both games

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;Rui Patrício;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
;;Cédric;;;;;;;;Ricardo Carvalho;;;;;;;;Pepe;;;;;;;;;;Fábio Coentrão;;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;William Carvalho;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;Moutinho;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;Tiago;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
;;Danny;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;C. Ronaldo;;;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;Éder;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

this team would allow Ronaldo to sit up top and receive through balls from Moutinho, Tiago and Danny. so Danny would be cutting to the middle, and the system would almost change to a 4-1-2-1-2, and Éder could even drop to a wing and help out, like a Benzema type striker. but i know Nani is having a great season so its goin to be Nani rather then Danny, and Nani is strictly a wing-man which makes Ronaldo stick to a wing which isn't where Ronaldo plays best, but what i want the most is that this change may be well received and help the portuguese national team reach great hights.

so paulo bento was sacked. and today september 24th of 2014 fernando santos a portuguese coach who was in the world cup as the greek coach was appointed as the new portuguese national team coach.
Santos is obviously a great choice especially since in the past few years (i believe last 4 years) he has been a national team coach for Greece, so he knows the routine and the experience is very important. he also coached the top 3 portuguese teams winning porto our fourth and fifth consecutive league, so he has trophies under his belt. i was able to catch about 40 minutes of his official press conference and he was very happy and passionate for being our new head coach. the word he used a lot was "ganhar" meaning win in portuguese. this ambition is great and i can't wait to see what he does with the national team. i realize that this job will take a few games for the players to get into his routine, but im still confident in his abilities and his work.

something i disliked from paulo bento was his negative ways toward some players after the players made a mistake.
::::::::::::::like when carvalho ran out of practice for knowing that he wouldn't be in the starting 11 of a qualifier game, he was wrong in doing that, but a few days later he apologized for his action and bento still said he would never return to the national team.
::::::::::::::and tiago who a few years back decided to resign his place in the national team, who then said he would like to return and bento neglected his decision and didn't call him even though he played amazing last season for a. madrid.
many other decisions bento made for example with fonte (southampton), bosingwa, eliseu (benfica) and many other players was very harsh on the national team and on the players themselves. on the other hand, Santos said he would allow every player to have an opportunity even tiago, this is great because it means we are leaving paulo bento's ways and starting over.

portugal is a small country who (in my opinion) has the best player in the world and the rest are average and below average players. however their are many teams the only have average and below average players and make it to the world cup and play some great football and kick ass in any tournament they are in. for example this last world cup we had teams like columbia, belgium, USA, mexico, chile, and many others who have average to below average and they still put in work and are considered top teams in the world. so i think portugal can be seen as a force to be reckoned with.

best wishes to santos and the portuguese national team

yeah i was surprised but he has been off the field a lot longer then all the other players (1 year and a half before coming to porto). this team has a lot of players that can shift from on spot to another which is cool, i wish fifa would allow for teams of bring a few more players like 2, 3, or 4 more players imo.
Here’s the full, 30-man squad:

Goalkeepers: Anthony Lopes (Lyon), Beto (Sevilla), Eduardo (Braga), Rui Patricio (Sporting Lisbon)

Defenders: Andre Almeida (Benfica), Antunes (Malaga), Bruno Alves (Fenerbahce), Fabio Coentrao (Real Madrid), Joao Pereira (Valencia), Neto (Zenit), Pepe (Real Madrid), Ricardo Costa (Valencia), Rolando (Inter Milan)

Midfielders: Andre Gomes (Benfica), Joao Mario (Vitoria), Joao Moutinho (Monaco), Miguel Veloso (Dynamo Kiev), Raul Meireles (Fenerbahce), Ruben Amorim (Benfica), William Carvalho (Sporting Lisbon)

Forwards: Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid), Eder (Braga), Helder Postiga (Lazio), Hugo Almeida (Besiktas), Ivan Cavaleiro (Benfica), Nani (Manchester United), Rafa (Braga), Ricardo Quaresma (Porto), Varela (Porto), Vieirinha (Wolfsburg)
my 23

very disappointed that the best player in sporting's great run this season wasn't called up. the 7 midfielders are extremely defensive with 100% of all the players being able to play in a defensive role. the lack of creativity is terrible so not seeing adrian and other players like him are very disappointing.
even though i never saw eusebio play i know what he meant for portugal as a nation so may this legend live forever and thanks eusebio for all you did for this amazing sport.
The current Portuguese National Team is the best ever and they are capable of winning the World Cup only if they had a different coach.
