Premier League preview: Blackburn Rovers v Tottenham Hotspur

• Rovers' new signings will not start due to injury or late arrival
• Spurs admit to 'gamble' in naming Woodgate in 25-man squad

Having added Rubén Rochina, Jermaine Jones, Roque Santa Cruz and Mauro Formica in the transfer window, Steve Kean can be happy as he attempts to add to the 31 points which Blackburn have already accrued. Santa Cruz's groin problem means he misses this meeting with Spurs, as will Formica, an attacking midfielder from Argentina, and the Spanish striker Rochina, who both arrived on deadline day and so do not feature.

Ryan Nelsen and Gaël Givet face fitness tests for Rovers, while a defensive crisis has caused Harry Redknapp to admit to "a massive gamble" in naming Jonathan Woodgate in Tottenham's 25-man Premier League squad – the defender has not played for 14 months , yet may start. Ledley King (groin), Younes Kaboul (knee) and Michael Dawson (suspension) are also ruled out, and William Gallas is struggling with a hip injury. "Gareth Bale and Tom Huddlestone are [also] both missing," Redknapp added.
