Before he stood down as Manchester United manager last summer, Sir Alex Ferguson had a few words for the Old Trafford crowd: "I'd like to remind you that when we had bad times here, the club stood by me. The board stood by me, the staff stood by me and the players stood by me. Your job now is to stand by your new manager." As the reaction to David Moyes's most recent defeat shows, not everyone listened to Ferguson's rousing oration.
