Manchester City's Carlos Tevez sees off Barnsley with FA Cup hat-trick

Carlos Tevez capped a turbulent 48 hours by scoring a hat-trick and having a hand in Manchester City's other goals in a 5-0 win against Barnsley that took them into an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley. Tevez has to report to Macclesfield police station on Tuesday after being bailed following his arrest on Thursday for allegedly driving while disqualified but the 29-year-old showed no sign of distraction during a man-of-the-match display.

Roberto Mancini, the City manager, joked about the arrest. "If it has an effect on him I hope that the police can stop him every day – after this he scored three goals. I hope also next Friday."

When Mancini replaced Tevez in the 76th minute there was an exchange of words between the pair, with the striker appearing unhappy. "I thought that he had a [injury] problem but he didn't have any problem. He was OK," the manager said. "Maybe [it was] because he scored three goals. No, he asked for a change – Carlos said it was better to change. Maybe he was tired."
