Cristiano Ronaldo limped off with an injury on Wednesday night as Real Madrid could only draw 1-1 at Valladolid, a result that has severely dented hopes of his side winning La Liga.

Ronaldo was forced to retire with a hamstring strain before ten minutes of the game were up at Estadio Nuevo José Zorrilla, but Madrid took the lead on 35 minutes when Sergio Ramos scored from a 25-yard free-kick.

Ramos's side looked to have the three points in the bag and had the majority of possession, but Valladolid were always in the match, and scored their equaliser through an Osorio header on 85 minutes.

The draw puts Real Madrid in third place on 84 points, a point behind Barcelona and four adrift of their city rivals Atlético. All three sides have two matches remaining.

Real's slip-up gives renewed hope to Barcelona, who could win the title in the final match of the season against Atlético, providing they first beat Elche away on Sunday.
