Premier League intervenes to settle Manchester City row with Birmingham

Alex McLeish has a good argument that he emerged from the window having completed the best business of the division's strugglers as David Bentley, Curtis Davies and Obafemi Martins are now available to the Birmingham manager as he plots a route away from relegation trouble. "We're really pleased with the players we brought in. Martins was always in that mix," the Scot said. Birmingham City hover a point and place above the drop zone – even a point against Roberto Mancini's men would be a fillip.

Manchester's other Premier League club are still title contenders and Edin Dzeko, Mancini's £27m striker, will hope to score his first league goal since joining last month.

Likely line-ups

Birmingham City (4-5-1): Foster; Carr, Davies, Ridgewell, Murphy; Bentley, Ferguson, Mutch, Fahey, Hleb; Martins

Manchester City (4-2-3-1): Hart; Richards, K Touré, Kompany, Kolarov; De Jong, Barry; Silva, Y Touré, Tevez; Dzeko
