The Brazil playmaker Oscar has said that it would be a "dream" to join Chelsea, as he passed comment for the first time on the prospect of playing for the European champions. Oscar, who will represent his country at the London Olympics, admitted last Friday that he had undergone a medical at Chelsea, although he stressed that no agreement had been signed.

But as reports in Brazil pointed towards the deal being finalised by the end of the week, Oscar suggested that his stay in this country would be for longer than the Games. Brazil begin their Group C campaign against Egypt in Cardiff on Thursday and they are determined to win gold for the first time.

"If I go to Chelsea, it will be a dream," Oscar said. "It's a big club in Europe. I'm sure that I will have a great Olympics and I will stay in Chelsea. If it doesn't happen, I will go back to Internacional [in Brazil] to keep doing my work."

Chelsea are poised to pay £25m to Internacional for Oscar, which would follow the £32m to Lille for Eden Hazard and the £7m to Werder Bremen for Marko Marin, as the owner, Roman Abramovich, funds an overhaul of the club's attacking options.
