Martín Demichelis is ready to make his Manchester City debut at West Ham United on Saturday after recovering from a knee injury. The central defender was set to play a first game for the club on Wednesday in the Elite Development Squad fixture against Rochdale at Hyde.

If the Argentinian suffers no reaction to the problem he suffered shortly after signing on 1 September from Atlético Madrid, his availability will be a boost to Manuel Pellegrini.

The City manager is set to be without his captain, Vincent Kompany, after he told Belgium team-mates that he may not be ready to face West Ham owing to the quad injury he picked up before the international break.
