Manchester City are continuing to pursue Fiorentina's Stevan Jovetic, though the Montenegrin is one of several strikers being targeted, with Sevilla's Alvaro Negredo also of interest to Manuel Pellegrini, the new manager.
On Sunday City lost their opening pre-season tour game in South Africa, 2-0 to Supersport United in Pretoria, with Pellegrini being forced to pair Samir Nasri in attack with Edin Dzeko, the sole striker in the Chilean's squad on the tour so far.
Pellegrini is aware that the addition of Jovetic and Negredo would offer much required reinforcements to his forward ranks as Sergio Agüero is the only other established player in that position at City.
"It's difficult to say a date, but before July finishes I think we will have more players," he said after the loss . "We are not in a hurry to bring them in now but we are clear that we need two or three more players. I said before we came to South Africa that we needed to play for each position and I'm sure that we will have it."
