The Denmark and Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen has suggested that Holland were eliminated from the group stage of Euro 2012 because of "arrogance".

Holland's Euro 2012 campaign lasted only three matches, the World Cup finalists going home after failing to win a single point against Denmark, Germany and Portugal, and Eriksen believes the Dutch were too confident going into the tournament.

"I think we are all surprised that they are eliminated," the 20-year-old, who has been with Ajax since he was 16, told Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet, . "They were in the World Cup final two years ago but they have probably been a bit too arrogant in the way they went into the tournament. That was at least the feeling you got when you were in the Netherlands.

"They thought they would win the whole tournament but then they started badly against us. I think they are going to get back to some pretty miffed Dutch people."

Dennis Rommedahl, meanwhile, has said that he wants to carry on playing for the national team, despite turning 34 next month. "If I feel that I am fit and that I can be a part of it and that I am good enough, why should I think about stopping?" he said. "I would really like the continue playing for Denmark."
