Bolton Wanderers should have the successor to Owen Coyle as their manager in place for their next game, the visit of Bristol City to the Reebok Stadium on Saturday week.

While the club have not set a time frame on finding Coyle's replacement and Wanderers are intent on a thorough process, the international break allows nearly two weeks from the Scot's sacking to attract the successful candidate before the visit of Bristol City.

There is confidence that there will be no shortage of candidates given the strength of Wanderers squad and the infrastructure of a club who are in only their first months out of the Premier League after 11 years in the top flight.

The shortlist for the post is expected to be headed by Mick McCarthy, and may also include Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Roy Keane, Alan Curbishley, Karl Robinson, Keith Hill, Billy Davies and Steve Bruce.
