Sergio Agüero has arrived at Manchester City to complete his club-record £38m transfer from Atlético Madrid and is in line for a shock first appearance when Roberto Mancini's team play Internazionale in a friendly in Dublin on Sunday.

Mancini wants to integrate his showpiece signing as quickly as possible and a decision will be taken on Friday about whether Agüero should go straight into the team despite Carlos Tevez, also involved for Argentina in the Copa América, being given until 4 August to recuperate.

Agüero arrived in Manchester on Wednesday for his medical examination, having cut short a holiday to finalise the negotiations. "I'm already a City player. Happy to be in this club and this city," the 23-year-old wrote on Twitter. "Thank you all for the welcome and the reception!"

Once the deal is completed, City will switch their attention to exploring whether there is any way Arsenal's manager, Arsène Wenger, can be persuaded to change his mind about selling Samir Nasri.

Eastlands executives are also expected to discuss Tevez's potential availability with their Internazionale counterparts this weekend, but his hopes of leaving Manchester are still hampered by the huge sums of money involved.
