Sid Lowe on Atletico v Madrid in the Copa del Rey:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/may/18/atletico-madrid-real-copa-del-rey

"I couldn't play at Madrid because of how I look," Mono Burgos insisted once. "I'm not joking. They'd make me cut my hair. Atlético is synonymous with workers. Atlético fans are brickies, taxi drivers, and churros sellers."

"I wanted to score that goal for all the kids who laugh at my son every day for being an Atlético fan."
- Miranda

"...this was the year of the décima... just that instead of Madrid's 10th European Cup, it was Atlético's 10th Spanish Cup. In 18 months, Diego Simeone has won as much as José Mourinho in three years."
I knew that if there was ever a time where they could break this poor run against us, it would be in a final at the Bernabeu against us - having played 5 times in such encounters, they've bested us 4 times I believe.

Honestly, I didn't think it was remotely possible. I must (biasedly) say it has been quite a poor job by Mourinho the past month. Very pouty and miserable, seemed to have finally affected the performance on the pitch.
I wonder who will replace mourinho? Ancelotti? i thought michael laudrup is a good option too but he just signed a new contract -___-
+1
Madrid need to return to being run diplomatically from the President and board. The whole "manager controls everything" won't work without the drama you've seen the past few years.

Laudrup is a horrible option. He's managed in La Liga before, to average fare. It's the equivalent of saying Madrid should sign Michu to replace Ronaldo: it shows the disparity between the two leagues (also look at Pochettino's quality since moving to the Prem).

Benitez is the safe (and wise) option. Only person I can see managing within the constraints of Madrid (and accepting them) as well as creating tactics that would continually frustrate and defeat Barcelona. Especially with his performance at Chelsea this year while being handcuffed in the worst way possible...
I don't think Madrid being run diplomatically in such a way will be in the best interests of the club. One of the reasons why we've grown from earlier years was because Mourinho was given a lot more power than one would imagine at Real Madrid. With such power he was able to build the squad and lead them forward.

Yes, it became a drama-full season this year, but that came with Mourinho's disliked personality. Had a more traditional manager not foreign to Real Madrid's institution been given such power, we'd likely do just as well and receive less drama.

But then again, I'm sure whoever manages Real Madrid will face the wrath of the Madrid based media. It's inevitable. They want to have some control in our operations. I admired how Mourinho kept them out and even exposed their hypocrisy for what it was. I want a manager like Mourinho, but with less disrespect.

I think Benitez isn't that great an option. I don't think he can rally the players and actually inspire them to win matches, at least not at Real Madrid where you need to rule with an iron fist to control the entire dressing room. And I'm sure, despite having some affiliation towards Real Madrid, that the media would eat him alive.
How'a Lucas Piazon getting on?
I haven't watched Malaga consistently this season, but what I can say is that they aren't looking to keep their loaned players. They are going to adopt a new policy centered around youth development and cheaper signings - similar to "Porto and Dortmund."

So you'll get Piazon back.

damn, LAST minute tie breaker vs Granada. the last CL spot is going to be dramatic!!!
Both clubs deserved the point. Good La Liga match.

Doesn't goal difference put La Real above Valencia in 4th?

This "throwaway" and "uneventful" clip from the match perfectly highlights the density of beauty in the match:

Can't recall the last time I saw something like that in a Premier League match (Bilbao v United doesn't count :) ).

what the hell did i just see? Thats was amazing, barca-like!

yes, I would think so Mt, but as we know, the tables on FT are a bit flawed

Чемпионат Испании 2012-13 / 35-й тур / Обзор тура by alexey7604

La Liga's round 35 highlights. Things are starting to heat up as the season comes to a close. Enjoy :)

Unfortunately, because La Real were once again, controversially, scheduled to play on Monday, their highlights were not included.

Keep them coming man! These are great :)

Barca CHAMPIONS! Thank you Espanyol for helping ur brother lol

Brothers? They really don't like each other, like I mean really. The Chelsea banner they put up at the Cornella El-Prat last season against Barcelona is further proof.

"Pues si, me cuesta decirlo. Pero si, gracias!"

Sounds like the same brotherly love found between Atletico and Real Madrid.
Ok i take that back, but i really thought clubs situated in the same region like Catalonia for instance doesnt seems to have a good relationship with Madrid due to history and politics.
This is football damn it, keep politics out of it.

This is Spain, so that's impossible Hikman.
+1
lol seems that in spain, they take rivalry VERY seriously

@Hikman :)

La Liga is all about politics, very little about "football". When you have a country made up of 31 autonomous "mini-countries" and 17 national languages... muy picante y caliente.
