Philipp Lahm quits the Mannschaft... I honestly did not see that coming. He's been an excellent player wherever he played on the field and an exemplary professional. It'll be weird not seeing him next time Germany plays.

Schweini captain and Khedira or Neuer vice?
I was surprised, too! I thought he would play until the age of 36 or so. I think it is mostly psychological. Maybe kind of a burn out after all the tournaments and expectations. Schweinsteiger will probably take over.

I just hope we see a few top notch full back talents in the very near future.
Sure hope Schweinsteiger will take over. I remember hating his guts in 2004. Germany then were a very experienced team, and Schweinsteiger being the youngest player on the pitch kind of pissed me off. Never quite had any faith in young players then, but Schweinsteiger proved me wrong, I could never be more wrong about a player.

Either way, leadership wise, skill wise, brain wise, it all points to Schweinsteiger as Captain. Germany'd best win the Euros though, led by Schweinsteiger. If anyone deserves to win it as Captain, it's him.
Sad to see the captain leave but good thing he left on a high note.

Schweinsteiger might be the next candidate for the captaincy.
Miroslav Klose this one is for you most of all. big up from jamaica

I think it's been the greatest World Cup I've witnessed in my life so far. Or sporting event of any kind for that matter. However, that's just my extremely biased opinion. That's despite the fact that I'm actually more passionate about Borussia Dortmund, my old love, than the German Nationalmannschaft.

yeah we (England) are about 15 years behind schedule - See you in 2029! hahahaha!

in all seriousness, the Germans did everything right and built a solid foundation for the national team to develop.

The scary thing is lots of these players will be in their prime in 2018 and you'll have the next wave of talented Wunderkinder integrating, too.

Expect to see Draxler, Meyer, Hoffman, Leitner etc all playing a major part in the next few tournaments.

they spotted the danger after the abysmal euro 2000 campaign, fixed it up and now they are rewarded with the 4th world cup title. i hope other nations can learn from this example, england especially, who's struggling with having great abundance of youth talent. spain, france got lots of youth rising stars. england is way behind.

@Skoll & Deffyduck , At least you guys can claim that culprit behind England failures are fools that run the football but biggest problem with nations like Argentina ,Brazil and most south american and African countries is corruption ,first they have to remove corrupt fools and then deal with the other idiots
