Your Country's Strongest 11 For World Cup
Yidarmy4lyf (Tottenham Hotspur) 7 years ago
This maybe a bit early as some players could be injured but I'd like to know from everyone who they would have in their country's starting 11? Also how far do you think they will go in the World Cup?

Johnson------------Terry--------------Rio-----------A. Cole
Lennon---------------------Gerrard-------------------J. Cole
Subs:barry, upson, carrick, beckham, [C.] Cole.

This looks like a world beating line up & I think we cud get to the final with a team this striong
Somere (Portmore Utd) 7 years ago
What happen to shaun wright-phillips and theo walcott. Foster is better than robbinson
Yidarmy4lyf (Tottenham Hotspur) 7 years ago
Sorry but foster is useless, he can't get into united team why shoulkd he englands? Walcott has not really made the step up, but SWP is a good shout
Yogan (Chelsea) 7 years ago
Perfect team, Somere doesn't know what he's on about, I agree with you. With the form of players at the moment, I would agree with you, maybe a few changes.

-G Neville---------Upson-----------------Terry--------A Cole-

Subs: J Hart, G Johnson, are Ferdinand, J Cole, M Carrick, E Heskey

Here's why:

Firstly, Barry and not Joe Cole: Barry has been in excellent form for Manchester City, Joe Cole hasn't had a chance to show Capello what he can do and has been injured (unfortunately) and at the moment, Barry is better. And, believe it or not, out of the whole England squad, since Fabio Capello has been in reign, Gareth has had the most starts under the Italian manager!

Why isn't Beckham on the bench? : Too many tattoos, doesn't care much about his football, arrogant, not quick enough to be a winger any more and the only real thing that is good about him now he is 34 is his always has been and always will be good free kicks.

Why Upson and not Ferdinand? : Ferdinand is good, but has flopped this season, been injured and not fit. He was good last season, and in 07/08 aswell but this season, he isn't the best. So I picked the best defender for the job and that was Upson.

Why G Neville and not Johnson? : Johnson is a great right back and is, really, better than Gary Neville but if I was thinking about this seasons performances, Neville is a real unsung hero where as Johnson has been injured and suits Portsmouth better than Liverpool, and Gary has returned from long term injuries and is back as he used to be.

James and Green aren't even on the bench?!: That's because James is injured and Portsmouth are 20th, and Green is a good goalie but isn't good enough for number one. Hart is better than both but hasn't got the experience of in form Robinson and that's why I picked him.

That's all you need to know.

Good thread
Somere (Portmore Utd) 7 years ago
Have you seen gary neville perform lately. He is way past his prime
Somere (Portmore Utd) 7 years ago
Hesky is the worst striker in the world. 10 goals in his last 4 seasons or his last 78 epl games
Yidarmy4lyf (Tottenham Hotspur) 7 years ago
I was guna say, based on form you can't really go for neville!
Franboy (Barcelona) 7 years ago
Rooney26 (Manchester United) 6 years ago
Lennon---Lampard---Gerrard---A. Young

Just make Lampard and Gerrard get used to each other and it'll be perfect. Bit worried about the keeper problem though
Somere (Portmore Utd) 7 years ago
I support brazil and england so here is my eleven for both countries
Somere (Portmore Utd) 7 years ago

Great topic !

Sub : James - G. Neville - Lennon - Crough - Whright philipps - Carrick
Fussball (Barcelona) 7 years ago
This may well be what Capello and co's brains thinking of.
Great team, I don't see any logic in why many here preferring young Lennon or Walcott over the most capped England player David Beckham. He brings in the experience no one can challenge of. Enough said
Nizanassar (Manchester City) 7 years ago
Good idea
Alen (Liverpool) 7 years ago
I like that Stevie and Lamps with the cannons in the right spot
Hill (Arsenal) 7 years ago

No idea------Onyewu---Spector-------Bornstein (I guess)

Klijesten-----Bradley----Dempsey------No Idea

I don't watch enough American footy to Know players too well. From what I've seen this is as strong as we have.
Yidarmy4lyf (Tottenham Hotspur) 7 years ago
That's a good team, spectors on there twice though, lol
Somere (Portmore Utd) 7 years ago
Donovan on the left wing and altidore and adu upfront
Hill (Arsenal) 7 years ago
Whoops. I like Donovan in a hole position. He's able to distribute the ball better and get more touches
Somere (Portmore Utd) 7 years ago
Carlos Bocanegra for right back and adu for left wing
Hill (Arsenal) 7 years ago
I can't believe I forgot Bocanegra. I'm not sure I would support putting Adu on the left
SirStig (Arsenal) 7 years ago
You might as well put Charlie Davies alongside Altidore, since you included Onyewu in the team. He might not recover in time either. Then push Donovan onto the left.

Here's mine:

With injuries:
Hill (Arsenal) 7 years ago
I wasn't sure on Onyewu's status. Yours is much better than mine. I like having Donovan in the hole in the 4-4-1-1, I'd rather have Dempsey in the middle just because he is one of our best players with the ball at his feet. Its vital to get him more touches
Phillfc7 (Liverpool) 7 years ago
Dempsey--*Jermaine Jones*--Bradley--Holden(beasley)
TheReggular (Liverpool) 6 years ago
You guys all have Spector and Bocanegra out of position....

-----------------Davies/Altidore/bring back McBride!------
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 6 years ago
Doesn't Bradley usually set up in a 4 5 1? I am not that big of a fan of the formation, but I will make the lineup accordingly.

Gk: Timmy Howard

Cb: Onyewu
Cb: Bocanegra
Lb: Johnny Spector

Holding midfielder: Feilhaber
Holding mid: Bradley
Rm: Donovan
Lm: Charlie Davies
AM(in the hole): Demps

St: Jozy

Bench: Adu, Holden, Kljestan, Bornstein, Kenny Cooper(I would rather have McBride)

What are the possibilities of the US acquiring Jermaine Jones or Juan Roman Riquelme? Either would be a godsend haha
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 6 years ago
Replace either Adu or Kljestan with Ricardo Clark, he is a good defensive midfielder. Feilhaber is great on the ball and brings a lot of good things into the build up and attack, but he isn't very solid defensively from what I have seen
Incuteration (Everton) 7 years ago
Um.... I guess you guys won't expect me to put Singapore up, because I don't think even any of you know even one player, so I will kinda list the Dutch and German team up, I'm kinda into them this few months.

Subs: Wiese, Friedrich, Trochowski, Hitzlsperger, Rolfes, Podolski, Kiessling

----------van Bommel---De Jong------------

--------------van Persie------------------

Subs: Vorm, Boulahrouz, Braafheid, Afellay, van Der Vaart, Huntelaar, Elia
Sergio 7 years ago
Wiese for me is miles better then young Adler
Bloodbrothers (Barcelona) 7 years ago
Van der Wiel for me is better than heitinga, right now Kuyt plays as a striker for the Netherlands
ManUK (Manchester United) 7 years ago
Van Der Vaart needs a starting place
Hulanji14 (Liverpool) 7 years ago
Incuteration I like your German line up. The only change I will make is changing Frings to Rolfes. Rolfes is on fire in Bayern Leverkusen this season. Maybe that is the team that will win Germany for the World Cup 2010
Sergio 7 years ago
How can I forget rolfes. He is on amazing form. I really believe he is proggressing really well now in the budisliga. And a national start would be great
Hulanji14 (Liverpool) 7 years ago
After I said I will choose Rolfes over Frings a week ago. German coach Joachim Loew agreed with me and went further saying that Frings won't even go to the World Cup. You can read the article below link.

KNVBKOP (Liverpool) 6 years ago
I would love to see Van Der Sar come out of retirement, his experience wouldbe helpful in the back.
I also want to see Van Nistelrooy come back, I hope he does well in Germany.
But other than that, I like the squad. Great attacking players, and two solid defensive midfielders
KNVBKOP (Liverpool) 6 years ago
Rooney26 (Manchester United) 6 years ago
Dude alder is dead...
Gigiggg9 (Arsenal) 6 years ago
@Rooney26,  Alder is alive, just google
Ordaye (Liverpool) 6 years ago
Rooney is mixing up Alder with Robert Enke
Pragathish (AC Milan) 7 years ago
I support Brazil. Here's my line-up. (The least possible in reality)

---------------Julio Ceasar-------------------------

---Maicon----Thiago Silva---Lucio-----Daniel Alves---

-----------------Felipe Melo-------------------------

------------------Kaka (AMF-the playmaker role)------

Subs: Diego, Nilmar, Lucas, Gilberto Silva, Fabio, Juan, Adriano, Ronaldo, Anderson
Soccerocks (Reading) 7 years ago
Ronaldinho should be given a second chance as he is really back on form for AC. I don't think Lucio should make the starting lineup, he has not been impressive for Inter Milan
Rockerr (Liverpool) 7 years ago
Okay, I'm a Spain Supporter. And I think the following team will do good.

Sergio Ramos---Puyol---Pique---Capdevila

---------xabi Alonso---Xavi-------------

SUBS:Reina, Marchena, Silva, Arbeloa, Albiol, Mata, Negredo

What do you say?

Somere (Portmore Utd) 7 years ago
I like it. Real strong team
Yidarmy4lyf (Tottenham Hotspur) 7 years ago
Easy 2 predicy spains team, i'd have iniesta switched with xavi though
Khaimet (Liverpool) 7 years ago
Really Nice dude
Bloodbrothers (Barcelona) 7 years ago
I would put Silva in the place of Fabregas and Busquets or Senna in the place of Xabi
USAfootballfan (Arsenal) 7 years ago
Spain is sooooooo scary
Phillfc7 (Liverpool) 7 years ago
Only bad thing is xavi and xabi aren't good enough at defence and you have no true wingers.... But spain is the best team with the best players by far
Franboy (Barcelona) 7 years ago
Gk : Hugo lloris

Dl : evra
Dr : sagna
Dc : gallas
Dc : abidal

Mdf : lass
Mdf : diaby
Mr : gourcuff
Wing left: ribery

Ac : benzema

Sub : mandanda, clichy, escudé, toulalan, nasri, anelka

Yidarmy4lyf (Tottenham Hotspur) 7 years ago
They shouldnt even be going there, lol
Sergio 7 years ago
Oh Put " Hand Ball " as Striker
ManUK (Manchester United) 7 years ago
O_o he went to way to far Loool That's wrong at so many Levels
Somere (Portmore Utd) 7 years ago
Toulalan over diaby
Ltm017 7 years ago
Yes I like this lineup a lot. I'm happy they are going
Juno (AC Milan) 7 years ago
Thread moved to wc2010 for similar theme.    Cheers.
Sjsung (Arsenal) 7 years ago
Great topic!

Korea republic (International Clubs listed)

--------------------------------------------------Lee Woon Jae---------------------------------------------------------
Lee Young Pyo(Al Hilal, Saudi)---Kang Min Soo---Lee Jung Soo(Kashima, JP)---Kim Dong Jin(Zenit, RU)
-----Ki Sung Yong(Celtic, SC)----------Cho Won Hee(Wigan, EN)-----------Kim Do Heon-----
Lee Chung Yong(Bolton, EN)---------Park Chu Young(Monaco, FR)---------Park Ji Sung(ManUtd, EN)

Subs from
Kim Young Gwang, Jung Sung Ryong
Oh Beom Seok, Gwak Tae Hee, Kim Jin Kyu, Cho Yong Hyung
Kim Nam Il, Kim Chi Woo, Gu Ja Chul
Yeom Ki Hoon, Seol Ki Heon(Fulham, EN), Lee Dong Gook, Lee Keun Ho(Iwata, JP)

Out in first round likely, but we could go all the way to quarters with a bit of luck because we love to "ride the momentum"
Incuteration (Everton) 7 years ago
Where is Cha Du Ri from Freiburg in Bundesliga? He is really versatile, he can be a winger, a wing-back, and even a striker sometimes
Sjsung (Arsenal) 7 years ago
Trust me. The best he'll achieve is a bench place. Even that's unliekly because the domestic league is even quite good
Soccerocks (Reading) 7 years ago
Park Chu Young, Ki Sung Yong, Lee Chung Yong are three decent youngsters that South Korea has. They should use the World Cup as a springboard to achieving greater stuff with bigger clubs
Sjsung (Arsenal) 6 years ago
I think the World Cup will be a good springboard for Kim Chi Woo and Oh Beom Seok especially.

Sad it will be Lee Woon Jae's last.... Hope it's a memorable one
Sjsung (Arsenal) 7 years ago
Hey I got a question: how many subs are you allowed on the bench, and how many in the final squad to South Africa?
Kimaway17 (Liverpool) 7 years ago

Taiwo (My cousin)

I. Uche
K. Uche

NaijaBoy (Arsenal) 7 years ago
I would start with 5 in the midfield by including a strong defensive midfielder like obodo and have one striker probably the yak. And then bring in martins and take off a midfielder a little after halftime
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 6 years ago
That's cool Taiwo is your cousin Kimaway. Is he the same player that plays for Marseilles? If he is, he is a great player, cheers!
NaijaBoy (Arsenal) 7 years ago

Subs: Martins, Olofinjana, Yusuf Mohamed, Etuhu, Keita, Victor Obinna, Kanu
Kimaway17 (Liverpool) 7 years ago
I prefer 4-4-2
Kimaway17 (Liverpool) 7 years ago
Adeleye is our best center half. And which match were you watching in the pic
NaijaBoy (Arsenal) 7 years ago
Although Ade is a good centre back, he ha not been named to the ACON squad so I had to question his ability to represent. This is more or less he side that contained france in the friendly. Pushing forward won\t be a problem. I think our weakness is in controlling the lay in midfield
Kimaway17 (Liverpool) 7 years ago
Amodu is a idiot not to put Adeleye in the squad. You have to admit he is the most consistant player
Juno (AC Milan) 7 years ago
Hmm, My country couldn't even survive the first round of qualification for Asian zone....    Tough choice then....
Simphal (Hull City) 7 years ago

Subs: McDonald, Djite, Sterjovski, Vidosic, Kisnorbo, Carney, Federici
