Best Goal Keeper For Spain In The World Cup
Ciankc (Manchester United) 8 months ago
Who do you think the best goal keeper for spain is? Currently, the starting keeper is casillas (real madrid), with reina (liverpool) and lopez (villareal) being the back up keepers. I think that victor vades (barcelona) should be included in the squad, and maybe even be the starting keeper. He is an amazing player and I think he deserves a spot with the spanish squad.

Who do you think deserves to be the no. 1 for spain?
Ciankc (Manchester United) 8 months ago
I've never even heard of lopez
Rockerr (Liverpool) 8 months ago
Valdes definitely deserve a spot in national team but I don't think he should start. Cassillas and Reina are better than him for me. He should be the third choice keeper
Ciankc (Manchester United) 8 months ago
Also valdes plays for the catalonian national team so maybe that's why spain are reluctant to give him a spot
Juno (AC Milan) 8 months ago
Main reason would be Casillas I guess, and not Catalonian team because Puyol and Fabregas and Xavi and Iniesta plays for them too...
Ltm017 (Barcelona) 8 months ago
Valdes can be a backup but not no 1. Although he has been doing great
Sjsung (Arsenal) 8 months ago
Casillas (start), Reina, Valdes
Franboy (Barcelona) 8 months ago
Casillas is the number 1. Reservists are reina and valdes. I do not think we can challenge this hierarchy
Incuteration (Everton) 8 months ago
Spain have great keepers, but surely Casillas will be the starting goalie. The two back-up goalie is a problem, you know that Spain has had great goalkeepers all around the few leagues.

Like

Victor Valdes (Barcelona)

Valdes had incredible reflexes and he saves Barca's ass most of the time, he's good in almost everything except he's mistakes-prone. His lack of concentration may let down the Barcelona most of the time but some times when he performed well, he performs really well.

Pepe Reina (Liverpool)

Reina is a great goalkeeper and has been consistent all-year round for Liverpool, his incredible reflexes including his penalty-saving heroics has made him become the second best goalkeeper in Spain just behind Casillas, but he is prone to mistakes too, like Valdes.

Manuel Almunia (Arsenal)

This is a great myth for the Arsenal no.1. He was treated badly in the international stages by not even getting a Spain international game. He also recently said he wanted to play for England, having their English citizenship. But Capello doesn't want him. He has been the No.1 starting keeper for Arsenal afer Lehmann left. But his inconsistent performance didn't impress del Bosque. Will he go to South Africa?

Diego Lopez (Villarreal)

He is a really underrated goalkeeper and started as a second-choice to Casillas in Real Madrid, but he joined Villarreal and played really well and was awarded for the third choice goalkeeper in Spain. He has consistency and makes very little mistakes which can be back-up Reina and Casillas anytime when they make mistakes. All-rounded performer.

I personally think Reina and Valdes have to be in
Ciankc (Manchester United) 8 months ago
If capello did let him play for the england squad, they would have a better goalkeeper than before. He is better than green, james, hart, foster, and robinson
Charliehenry (Arsenal) 8 months ago
Shouldnt have even wasted your time including Almunia lol    Casillas form isn't so consitant but still the best for selection
Tony (Manchester United) 8 months ago
Has to be casillas for me, I can understand liverpool fans wanting reina, which is natural, but from an outsiders point of view, cassilas is the better keeper
Rockerr (Liverpool) 8 months ago
Yup, have to accept the fact that Cassilas is better than Reina. Still Reina can be given chance in some matches,
Tony (Manchester United) 8 months ago
Definitely, reinas a very good keeper, I just think casillas is that bit better, and younger.
No doubt pepe has to go to the world cup as number 2.
Wether he gets a game or not is debatable, although if spain win their group with a game to go, theres no doubt reina will get a run out.
But barring injury, I think casillas will probably start 99. 9% in the big games
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 8 months ago
Haha as much as I love riena. Experience differs the two. Its cassias for me too
ManUK (Manchester United) 8 months ago
Agreed here. Casillas is currently the worlds best keeper
ManUK (Manchester United) 8 months ago
I would Bring four Keepers to South Africa

1. Casillas
2. Pepe Reina
3. Victor Valdes
4. Diego Lopez
5. (?) Almunia

Some Keeper squad!
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 8 months ago
Haha yeah. I wouldnt mind any of them in the england squad. And wow you can add almunia to that list
ManUK (Manchester United) 8 months ago
I know incredible
Ciankc (Manchester United) 8 months ago
All of the spain keepers are superb!
Juno (AC Milan) 8 months ago
They probably focus training goalkeepers' agility. The Spaniards are fantastic!
Zzlatan (Barcelona) 8 months ago
I think Casillas and reina is good.

But look at the victor valdes.

He is doing awesome with his team last year as well as this year.

He concedes least amount of goals throughout tournament.

I think he should be given chance for his national team in innitialstages of WC.

Yah    1 casillas  2 valdes  3 reina
MazzaMathias (Manchester United) 8 months ago
Casillas is by far the best. It would have to be a battle between reina and valdes for the second
Ciankc (Manchester United) 8 months ago
Yes casillas has been amazing, but I think that valdes is better than reina
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 8 months ago
I think valdes has the reflexes, but rienas vision is awesome. Valdes can punch a ball out miles when riena's kicks are dead accurate. Both awesome and very hard to choose betweeen
ManUK (Manchester United) 8 months ago
Agreed they're awesome at different things. Both are sometimes prone to mistakes
Yogan (Chelsea) 8 months ago
Casillas no doubt, how can any Spanish goalkeeper compete with how good he is. Reina is the second in hand but the first in hand for Liverpool and it's a shame there is a better goalie to save the shots than him. Valdes is amazing but gets alot, and I mean alot of help from his defence, and if Spain don't do well in every game then he would be under pressure. Almunia.... Ahem I don't know but Casillas is just an all round brilliant 'keeper
Vlad10 (Barcelona) 8 months ago
Valdes definitely.... He's won everything last year, he conceived the least goals, and he is top shape. While casillas this year is not as his best
Ciankc (Manchester United) 7 months ago
His defence at barca has been very strong so that could be a reason why he conceded the least goals
Shashank294 (Barcelona) 8 months ago
Anytime anyday casillas is the favourite
Nizanassar (Manchester City) 8 months ago
1. Casillas  2. Pepe Reina  3. Victor Valdes
SYYYM (AC Milan) 7 months ago
1. Casillas 2. Casillas 3. Casillas
Zizou10 (Arsenal) 7 months ago
Agree...
Mitchel (Real Madrid) 7 months ago
1. Palop.... Yea I know you;'d think i've gone mad.... But the man has simply merited that spot with his display so far this season.... Nevertheless, we all know Iker is a permanent fixture in Spain's goal and rightly so.... (bit of a contradiction, but the general view surpasses my opinion)

2. Casillas 3. Reina
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 7 months ago
Palop is Freaking Awesome. Servilla keeper and captain!
ManUK (Manchester United) 7 months ago
OMG you can. I agree Palop IS freaking awesome. And you can add that to the Keeper list that already star studded.... Wow
Ltm017 (Barcelona) 7 months ago
Palop! What can I say about Palop....    No one can deny him...
SexyAmyMUFC (Manchester United) 7 months ago
Casillas is the best goalkeeper in the world, never mind in Spain
TheTorresBounce (Liverpool) 7 months ago
I can't look past Reina, I may be slightly biased but he's been one of Liverpool's standout performers this season proving inspirational between the posts- who knows where we'd be without him. He's in the peak of his career and is one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the game
Ciankc (Manchester United) 7 months ago
Casillas is still better
