Who Do You Support In Hosting The World Cup
Marcinny (New York Red Bulls) 3 years ago
The last imbecilic response by the senile dictator of the world football.

Although the world cup won;t be taking place in England which is pretty sad, I'm sure that the Footballistic Atmosphere will be at least preserved in Qatar. More than in Russia in my opinion
Markodon (NK Dinamo Zagreb) 3 years ago
What makes you think that, may I ask?
In Russia, just like in other European countries, football is the number one sport. Russian national team is one of the highest ranked in the world and their matches are followed with great interest in Russia, while Qatar has never participated in a World Cup before. I don't get where your opinion comes from.... I have no doubt that the football atmosphere will be perserved in Qatar, but why more so than in Russia?
Marcinny (New York Red Bulls) 3 years ago
The only reason why I was against Russia's bid is because compared to England and Spain/Portugal, two splendid locations, infrastructures, traditions and people, no alternative looked more convenient to me.

But to compare Russia with Qatar is just laughable my friend. I'd rather had it in Iran than in Qatar to tell the truth. I wish good luck to Qatar and I hope they excel for the sake of all the small nations out there, but my confidence in them pulling this successfully is very, very and very low
Pragathish (AC Milan) 3 years ago
So.... Russia and qatar are corrupt, non-democratic, monarchist countries, right? Agreed.
Well, its plainly ridiculous to talk about their politics and all that here.

You are gonna' just watch footy there, not gonna' live there.

People living there are a civilised bunch too.... They ain't no cavemen
Markodon (NK Dinamo Zagreb) 3 years ago
Finally a smart comment. I can understand all the criticism about FIFA being corrupted, weather issues and such, but please guys, leave politics out of it!
Ltm017 3 years ago
I agree with you both!
Rockerr (Liverpool) 3 years ago
I can understand that English fans are unhappy but I don't know why most of you guys are unhappy for selecting Russia.

This sucks. FIFA is ridiculous.
You want a country that never hosted it before? Give it to Australia.
You want to respect a small country? Holland and Belgium look small enough to me.

I am unhappy with the choices, especially after Putin played the cool guy. "Oh I am not even coming there. They are smearing FIFA etc etc. " I bet he knew who was winning. I bet we'll read soon in Wikileaks how he filled their pockets with money.

Anyway, congrats to both of them. They won. This is the last time I talk about this

I See a lot of hate in here for Qatar....Watch their presentation and...For those who have questions about the temperature.......The games are to be played from 6:30 pm.......Its not 115 degrees anywhere in the world at 6:30 pm....The heat is usually from 12:00 - 4:00 After that the Climate's pretty normal....For those who have questions of the stadiums Infrastructure etc.... Have a look at this video...

I would love it if someone embeds it.

I think it was very good
MrPoopyPants (Tottenham Hotspur) 3 years ago
Oh2b, my words were harsh on Qatar, but I'll stick by them. I don't think this was the right choice. Say what you will about the climate being "pretty normal" but that's fantasy. If it's 110 degrees at 2pm it is not going to be 80 at 6:30.

The guy said in the presentation that the stadium cooling "technology is proven. " Where? Which desert located, air conditioned stadium is he referring to? It is total fiction.

I like the part about dismantling the stadiums and making fields for other countries, that was neat-o, but I am still not sold.

Hot as hell climate, no booze, and nothing to do other than go to the games. Weak sauce.

People are going to die trying to build this fantasy in the sand. I guarantee it
Oh2bagunner (Arsenal) 3 years ago
I never said it was the right choice.... I might be a bit biased because I was born in qatar (not a native) but some stuff being said here are totally unrealistic.... What's all this crap about terrorism. Qatar's never had a terror attack.... And with no offence whatsoever it isn't a hardcore islamic nation like saudi arabia.... I see you are from Usa As a matter of fact qatar has the most immigrants from northern america among the gulf nations.... It isn't as bad as you guys are thinking it'll be.... Trust me!
MrPoopyPants (Tottenham Hotspur) 3 years ago
I never said anything about terrorism. As far as I know, Qatar is a strong US ally as we had our central command posted there during the Iraq invasion. But it's an absolutely terrible place to host a world cup
Lifeguard 3 years ago
It will definitely be interesting to see if a record will be set for scoring against the host nation when 2022 rolls around...
Pragathish (AC Milan) 3 years ago
So y'all gonna' spend the next 12 years moaning.... Hmm
MrPoopyPants (Tottenham Hotspur) 3 years ago
Maybe. Maybe not
Jeroen (Barcelona) 3 years ago
I say yes! Yes to moaning! Nothing in life is ever good! Everyone in charge is in a giant conspiracy theory!

Seriously, because we hate the FIFA doesn't mean we're pessimists
Jeroen (Barcelona) 3 years ago
Out of frustration I made these:

Feel free to use any of them, as long as you don't forget where credit's due. The FIFA that is

People need to get over it...

When South Africa won the WC bid it was a symbolic gesture as much as a real one. It was a tip of the hat to a country that had suffered under apartheid and come out a unified nation. South Africa was on the right path no matter how rocky it had been. FIFA was right to take a gamble with them because they deserved the chance.

Qatar is a ruling monarchy with no evident democracy that does not allow for freedom of religion. It is governed by religious Sunni law and has an abysmal record for protecting migrant workers rights. I guarantee you those workers will suffer big time trying to build these stadiums and facilities.

People say, "Well, I'm just glad to see a country that hasn't had the WC get it. " This ignores the fact that granting them the WC is a validation of their oppressive governing system and religious oppression.

At least Russia tries to pretend to be a democracy.

Fifa is full of a bunch of douche bags.

And lets not even consider that several members had already been busted taking bribes during this process.

What s**t

I feel ya Jeroen, word for word
Jeroen (Barcelona) 3 years ago
I don't care Belgium & Holland didn't win, but Qatar? FIFA has always been a greedy selfish egomaniac monster, but this tops it. People in Qatar probably wouldn't even recognise a ball if they saw one. They have as good as NO stadiums, so they'll just hire a few thousand slaves to build 22 for them, which they will rip down afterwards for f*****g golf courses! They have NO football tradition at all, and I am disgusted by their extremely opportunistic approach, not only to this event, but more in general. Pretty much enslaving Afghan, Indian and African people who do all the dirty work for them and get treated like animals. I am even more disgusted by FIFA who have just sunk to a new low.

Which fans will go to the f*****g desert (where everything is three times as expensive too) for a WC anyway? Russia is at least liveable, and St-Petersburg and Moscow are nice cities to visit. Plus, millions of Borats will be there. But Qatar? FFS. FIFA ruins football in all ways possible, and are worse than organised crime.

I hope the oil wells in Qatar all run dry next year

Looks like mr blatter wants to go out with a bang, he'll die a happy man at england getting sweet fa, and god knows whos pockets have been lined with the qatar bid, because I can't find ONE reason to have a world cup in a country with extreme heat, its half the size of birmingham ffs, they will need at least 12 stadiums, at the minute they have one 100, 000 seater stadium, and two 25, 000 seater stadiums.
They will apparently need 38 seperate training facilities for the teams, pitches the lot, not to mention hotels, and transport, they are gonna' be like sardines, and you will be able to watch every game from your hotel window.... Lol.
I can see nothing less than half full stadia in qatar, and even more important to other developing countries is what happens to stadia and facilities after the tournament, all this stadia and hotels etc; are gonna' lie dormant when its over, just because they can afford it.
Now any other country bar qatar holding the world cup would always benefit from whats left over after the world cup, and all the facilities used to the max for the benefit of the people, I can't see who if anyone this qatar world cup is going to benefit, and its a wasted opportunity to give it to country who will embrace it and make it work for them, and have a lasting legacy when its all over, and that's what the world cup is supposed to be about, developing football for the masses, not giving it to the highest bidder and totally waste a world cup, because that's what it is.... One big waste, well apart from those that benefited from the decision.... Ching ching

I think honestly.... Not trying to be offensive to anyone in here or anyone in general but people need to stop complaining. First of I for one am happy for the two nations that did get it have never hosted the WC before. Everyone deserves a fair chance and technically if it doesn't work out will Fifa has a prime example for the future. All the big nations one to host it well I say give the little nation too. Especially if they want it and put out the money to make it happen. I just honestly wish people would stop complaining about the United States or England not getting it because frankly they are not entitled to it more than anyone else.

They are putting it out and fixing it to make it more comfortable for everyone else than is not used to the natural conditions of Qatar so I don't see the problem. Are countries not allowed to host a WC because of where they are? Because of the type of weather they have? Second 2022 is not the next world cup so I am sure they will find ways to help people cope with the heat. Or at least warn them.... Otherwise people can stay home in their comfortable homes and watch it on TV.

All I am saying is they deserve a chance just like any nation who has the fund to do so no matter the size or weather conditions

With all due respect, giving a nation like Qatar the World Cup is ridiculous
