If this is really going to happen then I think he will (Where?) move to Real Madrid for (How Much?) around 38M. It has been proven that his combo with Ronaldo is lethal. I think Madrid wouldn't miss a chance to repeat this to their advantage.
Replacement? Andy Carrol. He's got a talent and is familiar with EPL. I think SAF can bring the best out of him. Also, the transfer fee won't be expensive. So, SAF can use the money to strengthen the other areas
They keep giving him the penalties to take to try to build back up his confidence. Like any other player, he should have to fight tooth and nail, to prove he is good enough to play for United
Honestly, I think that he showed improvement against Arsenal. He is on the way up, but nothing he will do will justify the salary that he is making. That's the problem with forcing the club to pay too much for you. Bar becoming superhuman, you will always seem as an underperformer
Here's repost of what I wrote in last week's trendian article concerning Rooney:
It's been plainly obvious throughout this whole blasted, overblown media frenzy that this has been nothing other than, well a blasted, overblown media frenzy. Rooney never had any intentions of leaving the club, the club never had any intention of letting him go. Rooney, or more likely Rooney's agent whispering in his ear, was fishing for the biggest contract he could find. And what better time to go about it than in his worst stretch of performance both on and off the pitch. Picture an agent telling you that you've got a club willing to throw money at you in sums that would make Ronaldo blush, and all you've got to do is insinuate that you've got plans to look elsewhere. Sadly, Rooney falls into the trap, makes a publicly two-faced statement, alienates fans, managers, teammates, stirs up the journalistic idiocy that drives this sport into the ground.... And for what, a confidence boost? Well, he'll certainly need it now. If he doesn't perform, if he doesn't show any more class, if he can't buck up and find his talent anew.... At least he'll have a giant wad of cash to hide in. Yay football. I feel dirty having thought about this, and even lower having become, in this small community of football fans, just another pundit.... But at least I'm not afraid to call a spade a spade. Ian Holloway and I obviously share a similar view. The integrity of the game is being dragged down by stunts like this. For our sake, the fan's sake, just put on your shirts and play! There's a billion of us who'd do it for a whole lot less and with a whole lot more passion!

It's a good kind as it turns out....
If this report is true, then Rooney asked for details to future plans of United. They told him names of potential targets, that the team would have money to spend in the future, and that basically United was able and ready to spend what it needed to still be United.
If that's true, then good. Fine. :p It still could be a ploy to foster back unity and calm down fans, but eh. Why be dishonest
Called it! Haha. Seriously though, I feel like Wayne was just really frustrated. Obviously he voiced it in the complete wrong manner which alienates 99. 9999% of the fans, but I guess it happens? He is still a major twat though. I'm surprised Fergie isn't just offloading him. Then again.... Maybe Rooney is signing this contract so United can make money any which way?
100, 000 a week and now got a new contract.... Crazy. I thought he would be staying but then when Fergie came out with that I believed he was leaving. Rooney has let United down big time!
Football is a business and Wayne Rooney is a commodity. Let's not try to kid ourselves that any sort of loyalty was to play in this saga. Man United need Wayne Rooney just as much, if not more, than Wayne Rooney needs Man United. Its business, cold, hard, business. If anyone can be accused of thinking they are bigger than the club, its Alex Ferguson, not Wayne Rooney.
A master tactition and coach he may be, but he has shown that he now can't handle the demands of todays young, stupidly rich, fragile ego-ed players.
No longer can a coach just bark out orders and rule his players with an iron rod. They need to be protected, have their egos stroked and reasurred they are still valuable when going through a tough spell
On another site I go to, someone worked out that at the new rate of wages, Rooney will be personally earning about 50,000,000 pounds from united over the five years because of the new contract he signed a few hours ago.
Now, the question is, if that kind of money can buy an Ozil, a Benzema, whoever else you might dream about, is Rooney worth it? Please note that this is the money that is now going to Rooneys new contract that would otherwise have (assumingly) gone on new transfers.
Look! Everythings fine! The two awkwardest, fakest smiles I've seen in a while. Rooney looks like he has just stopped crying
Haha, priceless. You rarely see SAF's smile so that very well could be the real deal. Rooney looks like he was just molested and was told to smile for the camera or he'll be beaten again
Sure enough 50m can get you a world class player, but it doesn't cover his pay check Ant. Benzema would probably be sold if Utd offered 30m, but you'll most likely need another 5m as a sign-on fee and 30m more to pay him for the next 5 years. And TBH I don't rate Benzema as high as Rooney.
On another note: I would feel ashamed and ridiculed as a United fan right now. As if Rooney and SAF played a vicious prank on everyone that cares for the team
I think that hardcore group of Wooney-United fans will be devastated this played out in the fist place. How do you trust Rooney is actually going to stay if he's so easily bought? If someone offers him an insane offer, which only one other team, the worst team for United to worry about, can afford, then this will start all over again. I can hear the collective pockets of Europe starting to jingle to find that magic number that can purchase wins.
Weeping and gnashing of teeth comes to mind.
And now United will have to either remain speculative of selling him and throw out all the sincerity they showed in signing him again, or keep him and be his puppets. Rooney essentially owns a chunk of United now. I doubt his new contract is lenient of how management treats him, and I bet even if Rooney is in a slump, not fit, etc. he will get his way. Playing time + goals + clean sheets = $$$
Here's my thought. Ferguson is a smart man, everyone knows that.
He has bought Rooney back into a better contract with the sole intention of selling him on again in the summer. This way, instead of getting a really small fee (as low as five million), Ferguson can command a much higher fee. Rooney wins because he gets more money. Ferguson wins because he looks less of a fool than seeing Rooney in a Man City shirt, and can get the Glazers some extra cash for the interest repayments
Heh it's a nice theory (and the king of the all business-savvy heists still winds up at City, so I like it).
I feel sympathetic to United if they actually are trying to keep him. What a shot at desperation. If Roons actually signed and was content and will plan on staying through his contract, then he's slime for playing a dramatic role to get more money. If they signed this contract for United's sake to make money come the summer, then fine. I hope the fans are happy having him through the season. After that, this scenario will likely play out again, and we will see who is the highest bidder that time.
I'll say this. If Rooney goes ahead and does the City transfer after this, be it in the summer, or any time in the future, he will be murdered. Fans aren't forgiving of backstabbing AND fake loyalty
This was the first thing that popped into my mind this morning when I read the news, Ant. Maybe had a talk with Rooney, said don't disrespect this club at least let us sell you for a reasonable fee, and new contract until then. I wouldn't be surprised.... But honestly, I still don't want him to go
I think that's it Eric. SAF probably said, "look, we've made you the player you are today and gave you the stage and success you needed. Don't do this to us, not like this. "
If that's the case, United nearly got swindled very badly. And the resolution hurts like the problem. How can United afford to "bring in top talent" if their stars keep pulling this crap? Soon Nani will come knocking, Valencia will go on a hunger strike, and Paul Scholes will take either of the other two hostage in the loo. All of them for more bank.
Except Scholesy. Senility makes it hard to tell what he would do that for....
The conspiracy theories start here.... Lol Sure it will fill the forum pages if nothing else.... Lmao Footytubes getting its moneys worth out of rooney to
Breaking unconfirmed news leaking onto Twitter via the guardian is that rooney just signed a five year deal with United
I recommend checking the United topic over the next day or two for the same people that were saying 6 months ago he was a legend, a hero, then two days ago saying he was nothing, useless, good riddance, will now be saying he's a legend and a hero again
1. Embarrassing that United and Ferguson would just sit and take the abuse he gave out, essentially saying United are a sinking ship and have no ambition. 2. Embarrassing that they would then offer Rooney exactly what he wanted, after publicly belittling his manager and team-mates. 3. Embarrassing for Rooney, who has lost the respect of a lot of his fans and shown that at the drop of a hat he will up and leave.
I expect Ferguson to come out and say it was all a misunderstanding or similar. What a total mess
A lot of banner burning tonight.... I think the lack of options in terms of future clubs has pushed him into this, nobody explicitly said they wanted to come get him. Will be interesting to see how United fans now deal with this...
You'll know a true United fan because they'l be the ones that stick to their opinion of him during the time he was willing to Play for Man City for 250, 000gbp a week.
Rooney has held United to ransom here at a time they are in a financial crisis. Make no mistake, everyone at Old Trafford a loser in the long run apart from Rooney and his agent
Well that was a waste of my time. Thanks, Rooney, for playing the lead in the biggest heist of the year.
To me, this sends the message that Rooney can be bought. He's a product, not a character. As long as he gets the right number of 0's, he will consider anything. All that talk of leaving with such supposed sincerity. Just a ruse to bang up his profits. That is slimey.
What respect I had for Wayne is quickly flushing down with the waste where it belongs.... United, start raising up some more strikers because you won't be able to afford Rooney the next time he tries this!
What Rooney talked was b******s to me, there's probably someother reason for him to leave utd. Its a no brainer that Utd are genuine contenders in every competition they enter, and are better contenders than City in all aspect. So for me if he leaves for City, its precisely for the $$$$
