After seeing the Milan Real Madrid match I am convinced that we are still capable of succeeding in Europe.... What are everyone's thoughts? What changes need to be made? Is Leonardo the man to lead Milan? Etc....
I agree, Milan played well. Yesterday, Milan took advantage of defensive errors from madrid. Milan deserved their victory but pato scored two goals unmarked! Cons barcelona, chelsea, mutd, arsenal.... This is not so easy. Madrid has a very bad defence, worse than many European club. He should see Milan play against a better team to give a better view. Because the match yesterday was an amateur (many mistakes)
I'm a Milan Fan, but I'm also realistic. This current bunch of players do not have what it takes to reign supremacy in europe now.
Last nite win was against spanish opposition (who play at a pace similar to Italian) and Real Madrid who boast a team with non- existent defence.
Yes, its a morale boost on the team, but it shouldnt be treated that the worst is over. The cancer is still in the system. The team is still too old averaging 30 years old still. EPL teams will most probably outrun all our defenders and midfielders.
Leonardo by the way should not be blame for the demise though. A coach can only do so much if he's given so much. Pep Guardiola wouldn't be able to fair any better if he's in charge
I feel that AC mian is a great team but they need to play as a team. Especially in Ronadihno case. As far as Leonardo. I feel the Pato has done well and is proving himself to be the lead guy
Why? Pato is 20, he can wait 2-3 seasons till we are able to win the Champions League again.
Pato is lucky to play in a team that won 5 Champions Leagues in the last 20 years. By probabilistic reasoning, it is very likely that AC Milan will kick asses again the next seasons.
So take your hands off Pato. He is in the most winning club of the world
Pato is playing very good football and I don't think you need to offload him to another club. He showed against Madrid what he can do. Surprisingly he is not a regular for Brazil and he might not even make it to the World Cup but Milan should do well with Inzaghi and Pato upfront but on top of that, they have many great midfielders who can score for Milan too
After the victory of yesterday we still not can tell if Ac milan got what it takes because both teams didn't played great football but yet agian Milan deserved the full 3 points There were too many unnecessary mistakes by both teams. Ac milan must prove that it was not luck but the way they played just like agianst Roma. But AC Milan is surely a team that has a legendari history in Europe
I agree with you, Milan was smarter than madrid. But this was not a good football game. The game was spectacular, beautiful to watch but there were many errors
I don't understand why that goal AC Milan scored from the corner was disallowed, did anybody else see any reason to take that goal away from them? In the end Karma prevailed though and Pato put in their deserved winner
Ok.... I do agree madird's defence is below the standards.... But what about their attack? They are one of the world's best attacking squad.... No one can deny that fact!
Take nothing away from ac milan, they played a great game. But gone are the days when teams feared going to the bernabeu stadium, real madrid are nothinhg like the team they should be, with endless managers, and a defence which has not been rectified for yrs. All that money they spent up front and in the midfield. Had they not bought benzema, who they really did, nt need, they could have bought 2 good defenders for the same money, and I'm sure the season would have begun a helluva lot better than it has
They are, just take it like this. They still have amazing players, a brilliant manager and a brilliant style of play. They score good goals as well. Great team. Should do well. Go on Milan!;D
I don't know man, I honestly think it was a bit of a fluke. I've got nothing against milan and wish them the best but I don't see them offering a real threat in the champions league this year.
I'm also amazed at how off Real seem without Ronaldo, really didn't think he would be that big of a difference maker for them
I feel that they definitely got what it takes to compete in European football. The reason AC Milan achieve alot in European competitions and is poor in Serie A and Inter Milan is the direct opposite is because the style they play, it may deem as AC Milan will suck in the the UCL but I feel they would go far.
AC Milan plays a midfield possesion football, when playing against strong teams especially in European football, they can control the midfield, and if you control the midfield, you can control the tempo of the game. That is why they lost the game against Zurich and won the one against Madrid.
Even without Kaka, they have likes of Pirlo, Seedorf and Ronaldinho whom all can control the ball quite well. The up and coming Pato, the positional experienced finisher Inzaghi, the goal-scoring machine Huntelaar, and the ever-performing substitute Boriello will lead the strike force really well. Especially with Seedorf and Ronaldinho providing deadly passes.
Milan still 1 of the great team in da world no doubt but they are not strong likes the milan side with the likes of sheva, maldini or kaka.... They need to bring an experience coach and the replacement for those 3 players that I mentioned before they can challenge any trophy again...
Ac mian has more confident after victory over roma and madrid! Our team morale is also high now.... All we have to do is maintain this form and hope that pato and Ronaldinho continue this same awesome work.... But we must improve our defence.... Especially our side backs are not up-to-the mark!
Milan are definetley competition material. They really know how to compete at the best level, and play much, much better than they do in the Serie A. Inter and Juventus are examples of the exact opposite. They also have very experienced players such as Andrea Pirlo and Clarence Seedorf who know what they are doing on the European Scene. I definetley think that they have what it takes to compete in Europe, but one thing they lack is inconsistency. They need to win game after game. You will see Milan play a teriffic game against, for example, Roma, and the next league game will be terrible. It has nothing to do with the coach, because Leonardo is a real miracle worker despite what critics think. He really emphasises on the buidling of a team, and not just that everyone plays well. Once Milan have become a real team within, they will be able to outplay any team in the world, and win it all. But they should really work on inconsictancy because that is their one weak point
Experience is good, but they don't have the energy to really be considered contenders. Pato is the only great player out there right now as all the others may have been great, but they are past their primes now. They also need a new keeper.... Badly
It may seem weird, but it's far more likely for Milan to win Champions League than to win the Scudetto.
Galliani used to say that "Champions League is our habitat". I don't know if this is true, but for sure in great matches against great opponents Milan players play at their best. The point is: Milan players, though a bit old, are still world class (Nesta, Zambrotta, Pirlo, Seedorf, Ronaldinho, Inzaghi, etc.). For age reasons they can't afford a full season at high level (that's why Milan is always laid back in Serie A), but in a competition based on few matches against fascinating sides they can do great things. Plus we have Pato.
Look at Champions League 2006/07: Milan wasn't expected even to reach quarterfinals, but they won the trophy in Athens, beating Bayern, ManUtd and Liverpool. Quality and extra-motivation do make the difference.
Just to answer your question: yes, Milan can win, though as always not being among the favourites. And in any case it will be very hard for anyone to eliminate Milan from champions league
Milan definately is a strong Champions League candidate. They go hard when it comes to that competition, because it is like a natural habitat for them as Galliani said. To compete at a hardcore level doesn't just take fresh talent, I think a team mostly needs loads of experience and Milan has loads of that. With the inclusion of Beckam it will only get better. Pato could use some extra assistance up front with some of his world class deliveries.
I think Coach Leo is doing great. He's actually getting Milan to play more like a cohesive unit and since the Madrid match I've been seeing a lot of that. Even if it is unlikely that they'll win the Scudetto it might make sense to be a little bit more laid back in the Serie A, it allows them to be more fluent. The only player that can help much more in their domestic league in my opinion is Ronaldinho.... If he steps up, it's gonna' be REAL hard for other teams to keep up ;D
I think so. Bcuz they have the players to win the champions league. They will definatly come out of the group stages and then they will reach the semis
