World Cup - DreamFooty NOW OPEN!
Soccergal293 (Barcelona) 4 years ago
Will we be able to use our 2 Pro+ Member Emergency Transfer window in this World Cup DreamFooty?
Schaudenfreude (Watford) 4 years ago
Am I right in thinking that in terms of points, it is worth pooling my resources in the defence and the attack, in order to gain maximum points? Midfield didn't seem to garner as much points and was a 5/3 split based on assists and goals scored. I am looking at having one solid midfield and 2 others who're not likely to ruffle any feathers, freeing up cash for my attack and defence
Ant (Liverpool) 4 years ago
Its entirely up to you. Its certainly one strategy. Some people go with a very defensive side, other go with huge firepower. I personally like a balance throughout defence, mid and attack. A midfielder who scores and creates goals could be worth his weight in gold.

Hence, I chose a 4-4-2 in 2009-10 dreamfooty, and came second overall
ScooterHayes (Chelsea) 4 years ago
But then again, he's Ant, and he had massive sums of extra money to throw at his problems because of his footytubing lifestyle....

I reasoned that defenders can cause you lots of problems. They allow goals, they don't create chances; bah to heck with em. Besides, I spread out the 7 most winningest teams in the front 6 and one defender, and put my money there. Those are the teams most likely to win the most matches, and since I'm Pro +, I was able to load up and get impact players. Why go with the Robinho when you can have the Fabiano, I say....
Moussinho (Valencia) 4 years ago
Guys, out of Guardado, James Milner and Felipe Melo who should I make midfield maestro
Schaudenfreude (Watford) 4 years ago
Milner will be lucky to get a game, that's for sure!
Charlie (Barcelona) 4 years ago
Guardado is arguably mexico's best player, and I see mexico playing getting out of the group stages
Jimmybreeze 4 years ago
Felipe Melo shouldn't even be on that list, he's a defensive midfielder and you'll be lucky to get many points out of him. I agree with the above two, Guardado's your best bet
Ben (Arsenal) 4 years ago
Guardado hands down, he'll get a few assists and might get on the score sheet himself
ScooterHayes (Chelsea) 4 years ago
I hope you went with Guardado, friend. That is all
Schaudenfreude (Watford) 4 years ago
£104. 5m, I am struggggling to get a decent team, let alone subs! Sod the subs!
Moussinho (Valencia) 4 years ago
You don't have to have subs
Ant (Liverpool) 4 years ago
Fora dollar or two, go pro+ and get bonus money! Help the site and help charity!
Tony (footytube staff) 4 years ago
I have 120m and I can't afford subs
Ant (Liverpool) 4 years ago
I bought the full New Zealand squad and have plenty of money left
Tony (footytube staff) 4 years ago
Lol, you have to live among them ant.... Lol
ScooterHayes (Chelsea) 4 years ago
Subs are lameee man don't bother with subs. Subs will only let you down because you will forget to switch them in come game time because you are glued to your favorite spot waiting for the game.... Then kickoff will come, and you'll realize that you benched Ronaldo while you played Messi....

.... And the rest of your team is made up of the New Zealand squad, so you automatically lose....
Jimmybreeze 4 years ago
Just popped in to let everyone know how excited I am. Why doesn't the World Cup start already!
Hulanji14 (Liverpool) 4 years ago
It started last Friday May 28, 2010
Jimmybreeze 4 years ago
For whom? For you?
Hulanji14 (Liverpool) 4 years ago
I don't know if you are serious or not. Use the link bellow to make your team:

Jimmybreeze 4 years ago
Haha, no I meant the World Cup as in the real thing. I know about the footytube World Cup, me and the 11 are impatiently sitting at the door with our boots on, resorting to fart jokes because we are so bored
Ben (Arsenal) 4 years ago
You missed the tournament mate, the final was yesterday.... Were you living under a rock?
Jimmybreeze 4 years ago
Bludy 'ell, the lads aren't going to take it well, they're the most fragile group of people I've ever managed. I think the best way might be to get them in a group and play broken telephone with 'em, some might walk away happy
WGTNPhoenNZ (Liverpool) 4 years ago
I've made a team, How Do I Play? Lol
Jeroen (Barcelona) 4 years ago
You don't play, the players play. In the actual World Cup Read this if you're interested in all the details:

Link: www.footytube.com/dreamfooty/world_cup/index.php?t...
Ant (Liverpool) 4 years ago
Basically you pick the best team you can afford, then based on how the players do in the World cup itself (goals, wins, clean sheets, red cards etc) you get awarded points.

Person with most points at the end gets prizes galore
Hithere (Manchester United) 4 years ago
Man this is tough. The problem with me is that I only seem to know EPL players. But I hope I get into the top 100 at least this time!

Btw, it would be really cool if we could upload our own team emblem/logo. Even just a small 100x100 avatar like pic for our team would be awesome. And then show the team emblem next to the team name on the leaderboards instead of the jersey
Ant (Liverpool) 4 years ago
Interesting idea but how long before the staff have to sit and check every photo because someone has put porn, racism or swearing all over their pic. For the original dreamfooty tournament we let everyone submit their logos and ideas in a big topic, and chose the thirty or forty best. That was really the only reasonable way to do it
Hithere (Manchester United) 4 years ago
But then how do you make sure the user doesn't abuse his/her profile avatars? Do you guys have to check every photo? I assume there are more members than dreamfooty teams on footytube.

You can always add a "report photo" link I guess.
Jeroen (Barcelona) 4 years ago
We mods have a mighty array of godlike tools at our disposal to get rid of abusive users and bad profile pics Hithere
Lee (Kidderminster Harriers) 4 years ago
It's a fair point from Hithere though, we'll look into it, but what I really wanted to add was a team crest that users can design and add to their actual kit, which would then become their team logo. So a set of design elements, dragons, crowns etc, and different badge shapes which a user can then colour in / add text to and mix and match I figured would work nicely
Hithere (Manchester United) 4 years ago
Hmm.... An editable team crest/logo would be cool too. In fact it might be better actually. I guess it would look nicer overall. Just have lots of design elements, including unusual/weird ones for variety!
Soccergal293 (Barcelona) 4 years ago
I was wondering when the World Cup DreamFooty Transfer window open on the 22nd do you think we could get like a boost in the budget? LOL its just so hard! Even if its like 5 Million more.... Maybe it can be a boos for the top 100 or something.... Oh and is the transfer window after the group stages? I'm a bit mixed up with the dates.... Well if it isn't can we make it like that?
Matt (Footytube Staff) 4 years ago
The first window ends as the second round starts there is no downtime in between and no more Money! Imagine how the people with just 100mil feel!
Ant (Liverpool) 4 years ago
The World cup is over after the knock out rounds! I think you meant is the transfer window after the league stages. The answer is yes - a transfer window will be open near the end of the group stages and afterwards.

Giving a budget boost to the top 100 halfway through would just make the rich richer. I mean, the people who need it least would get the extra spending power.

Its very hard for everyone but that's why winning it or even coming close will be an amazing feat
Soccergal293 (Barcelona) 4 years ago
LOL yeah I was meaning group stages, my bad.... Ok cool! Hopefully I could get to the top 100 this time!
ScooterHayes (Chelsea) 4 years ago
If you think about it, any big-name stars that get knocked out can be replaced, thus giving you that money back.... We don't need more money than that 100 mil (120 mill for some of us winkwink ).

We just have to be willing to go without more than a few Fabiano's and Messi's and may have to pick up a Kim Ju Yim or.... Jozy Altidore. Bleck.
Rob12 (Manchester United) 4 years ago
Just do what I did, get 2million pound defenders, and waste the rest on attack ha
ScooterHayes (Chelsea) 4 years ago
.... As much as I hate to admit it, I did use robs tactic to some extent. But only when I ran out of teams I knew would progress. Strategizerizin!
ScooterHayes (Chelsea) 4 years ago
I'm most excited to see how the strategy of structuring the teams will play out; do you go big with the best names and risk teams getting knocked out early? Or do you spread out good players and hope they go the farthest. I tried to get the top 10 best teams involved with impact players that will be seeing a lot of action, but I have changed a lot since I posted my original team.... It will only change more, too.
Ant (Liverpool) 4 years ago
That's the beauty.... Do you choose players that will definitely get 5+ games, or players that might score five goals in the first round but still get knocked out (Drogba for example)
ScooterHayes (Chelsea) 4 years ago
I restructured for that reason.... And I think you can get good points out of everybody if you're careful
RRajeev (Manchester United) 4 years ago
Can I make my team again?
Actually I mistook a player in my team.... Both plays for Mexico
I confused between J. Dos Santos and G Dos Santos.... Lol
RRajeev (Manchester United) 4 years ago
Thanks, actually I managed to do it, I was getting bugs...
Jimmybreeze 4 years ago
footytube staff, will you reconsider the transfers allowed in the window, and please increase it to 5? There are a lot of players who are out of my league in terms of value, and the makeup of my team is half made up of players from Nations who aren't expected to progress even past the last 16, understandably come transfer window I will probably only have 3/4 of a team left, including the 3 transfers. With 5 transfers I will be able to carry on as usual, and provide healthier competition
Jimmybreeze 4 years ago
Matt and Ant/Ant and Matt: Answer - NO! GO AWAY!
ScooterHayes (Chelsea) 4 years ago
Lolz
Ant (Liverpool) 4 years ago
Of course....    Actually              NO! GO AWAY!
Ant (Liverpool) 4 years ago
It might be an idea though. People who failed miserably in the group stages might still have a chance to recover with five replacements in the 2nd round window. Could keep the entire competition closer so there's no Jeroen-style 400+ point leads.

Hopefully Matt will see this and use that wonderful big sweaty head of his to decide
Matt (Footytube Staff) 4 years ago
Hi Jimmy, we know the game is tricky but we will keep to the 3 transfer limit during the transfer window. As PRO+ you have as much money as anyone and have the same chance to pick the winning team!
Jimmybreeze 4 years ago
You're right, I can't complain. Can't blame me for having a go though
Rob12 (Manchester United) 4 years ago
Is it just a bug, that when you click on your World Cup dream team it comes up with your Season Dream Team?
Matt (Footytube Staff) 4 years ago
Where are you clicking? Looks like we missed a link!
Soccergal293 (Barcelona) 4 years ago
Yeah I know what you mean, You have to click on the bar next where it says 'profile' and stuff. Not the one on top of where it says your points.... I guess you guys did miss that link LOL
Rob12 (Manchester United) 4 years ago
You know where it shows your points like half way down your profile on the right, if I click that it takes me to my normal dream footy team not my world cup one. It's not biggy just wondered that's all
Matt (Footytube Staff) 4 years ago
Thanks for that now sorted!
Reidscott (Fiorentina) 4 years ago
Screen goes grey mate.... Any issues there I need to know? Played D Footy all last year.... Should let me in for WC DF.... I will try it again....

Still goes grey! Waaa.... I can't play WC Dream Footy.... Waaaaaa....
This looks to be an IE issue - I was having the same problem at the office. However it works fine on Google Chrome, Firefox and Opera
Tony (footytube staff) 4 years ago
That's what I had to do, download opera, it works fine now
Reidscott (Fiorentina) 4 years ago
So.... A night at the Opera is really a day on footytube? Nice....

Just downloaded Chrome and Opera.... Still only get a grey screen.... Oh well....

Git it! Had to use Firefox.... I am in baby.... That was fun....
Matt (Footytube Staff) 4 years ago
IE issue has been resolved, so you are free to playe dreamfooty in any browser you like again! Though now you have left the IE family it's probably best if you don't go back
Tony (footytube staff) 4 years ago
Whys that matt? .... Out of curiosity
Ant (Liverpool) 4 years ago
A lot of sites look different in IE than in other browsers, and a lot of sites work better in other browsers because Microsoft don't like to use the standards. They like to use their own code and force others to use it too, which a lot of people don't like.

Think of it like buying a dvd and then finding out that your dvd player can't read it. However, if you buy a region free DVD player, everything works.

Chrome, Opera and Firefox are three browsers that are the web equivelent of 'region free' dvd players
Tony (footytube staff) 4 years ago
Gotcha
Prejsu (KKS Lech Poznan) 4 years ago
Hey, I was wondering for some time now, why can't we buy lucas barrios? He's probably the best player in the paraguay football team, a striker to be more precise. He scored about 20 goals for BVB this season and he is not there, yet nelson valdes is, who is a worse player by far. Will you fix that?
Matt (Footytube Staff) 4 years ago
Squads will update all the time up to the tournament kick off as the teams are finalised and injuries are reported. We will add in Barrios
Rockerr (Liverpool) 4 years ago
Also Michel Bastos, Gilberto(left back) of Brazil are not there in the list
Francesco2286 (Barcelona) 4 years ago
Maybe because barrios is a late addition because of the salvador cabanas incident, barrios is argentinian and was nationalized about 2 - 4 months ago to play in the w. [C.]
Jimmybreeze 4 years ago
Michel Bastos. Although played 09/10 primarily as a marauding left midfielder for Lyon, Dunga has preferred him as a left back for the national side. Can this please be changed?
Are there any issues with IE7 and the World Cup Dreamfooty? Whenever I click on a link to look at the various player categories, the screen freezes. Have tried on two different PCs...
Rockerr (Liverpool) 4 years ago
I tried IE and as you said it freezes. Dream footy isn't compactable with internet explorer I guess.
I'm using opera and its fine here better try someother browser
4 years ago
Ahh, well, I was gonna' do my team from work, but I guess I will have to do it on my own time at home! (unless the bug is fixed soon!)
Tony (footytube staff) 4 years ago
Ie must not be compatable, use another browser like opera, that's what I had to do
Soccergal293 (Barcelona) 4 years ago
Yeah, Google Chrome worked perfectly with me...
Kraken07 (Liverpool) 4 years ago
Yes IE didn't work for me either, but tried with mozilla Firefox and it works
Dvno893 (Barcelona) 4 years ago
Chrome crashed for me once in a while when I used the search option, but it finally worked
