I think Australia has the worst luck this year. 2 two red cards from the first 2 group games were wrong

Shocking group results in my opinion. I thought Serbia would go through after the crappy Aussie luck in the first 2 games

It makes me wonder how we would've went if we had Cahill and Kewell for all the games and had started with a proper team in the Germany game. We showed today that we have the ability to be a decent footballing nation and that we were unlucky to not make it through although we weren't helped by some dubious refereeing.

Cahill and Holman, 2 great goals and a great performance all round, maybe next world cup boys

I'd say the Ghanains, and all of Africa for that matter, are deeply indebted to the Aussie boys. Just send the cubans, the 40yo scotch and the ganja to our team hotel. Your welcome Africa!

Really disappointed that Australia didn't go through even though they won

Australia showed real heart and hunger this game despite having little to play for. They did ghana and africa a huge favor. They may have made it out of the group if the absurd red cards weren't given....

Ghana despite playing an amazing game are probably happier in the 2nd spot than they would be in the first spot, seeing as how the match-ups work out. The corner of the bracket they are in is a much easier path to the semifinals....

It always goes back to What if we played well in the Germany game, but great work Australia, showing that fighting spirit that got us to the 2nd round in 2006.

Australia did great. In retrospect, the red card of Cahill is really unjust and cost Australia dearly in goal differential

A great game by Australia, there was a moment where we started really hoping when we went 2-0. But it was not to be. The first game against Germany wasn't the best of starts but this campaign cements us as a team that will fight and go the distance no matter the odds.

Great goals to Cahill and Holman, looking forward to fresh blood in the Socceroos in four years time!
