Russia had an advantage aside from playing at home, the grass is artificial. Due to the cold Russian climate, regular grass freezes and artificial turf is needed. Russia is used to playing on such turf but Germany is not. I think Russia is a great team, with time (and money) they could soon become a strong force in Europe, but Germany is, for now, the better team
