Wordclass assist from Messi
Weegeez (Barcelona) 1 year ago
Intense game, both sides played good, but argentina were just a step ahead, goooooooooo argentinaaaa
Raynor (Sporting CP Lisbon) 1 year ago
None of the teams played spectacularly well, a draw would have been the most adequate result. Nonetheless, congratulations to Argentina.
As for Portugal, Paulo Bento is doing a good job as manager, even though substituting Ronaldo, Nani and H. Almeida at the same time wasn't a good idea, as we were playing better than Argentina at that particular moment. However, let's keep the hard work towards EURO 2012!
Socdylan09 (Manchester United) 1 year ago
Bento rested cr7 because RM won't allow him to play a full 90 because he has to play w/ RM in a couple of days, its not good for him to play for too long away fromt he club that in reality owns him
Messi on the other hand was suprisingly allowed to play a full 93mins to get his penalty goal in the last minute which I think does not show us that messi played amazing, he got an assist in the beggining and a penalty at the end bullshit, between that he hardly got the ball and people think he killed portgual
Mahel11 (New York Red Bulls) 1 year ago
Its a friendly, he needs to see how other player do he knows what Ronaldo Nani and Almieda can do
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
Well I didn't see the match, but from the highlights it looked like Messi was involved in just about every attack. He was playing some one twos like he always does and had that early chance with the header, and the assist was world class take nothing away from that, not many players would have the vision for that pass, let alone the skill to pull it off. Then he set up some more chances, forced a great save from the goal keeper on a free kick, made another great pass on a set piece, that really should have been put away and the guy just hit it off the bar with his head. And the penalty was class, kept his head sent the keeper the wrong way, easy as you like. He thrives from pressure situations, were as Ronaldo fails in them, I won't get into that though. Just here to praise Messi not talk crap about "cr7" give us a break on that one please though. It was stupid the first time, now it's just ridiculous
Starcr9 (Real Madrid) 1 year ago
Intresting
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
Haha Messi dumb. Why don't you learn to pass before you step on a football pitch I want to see Ronaldo make a pass like that
BonitoJoga (Barcelona) 1 year ago
Ronaldo coming off early is no excuse for not being better than messi. Messi showed a consistent appearance around the ball, played amazing passes, controlled the game. He became the xavi and iniesta of Argentina. This game right here is another reason why messi is better than ronaldo
Blueskiesahead (Chelsea) 1 year ago
I think that the most impressive part of this appearance was that messi took on the roles of iniesta and xavi for argentina as you said, but also kept his own role of lionel messi. This kid is quickly turning into the best player of all time
Pauleta (Manchester United) 1 year ago
Seemed like an even game to me.... Argentina and portugal both played well, a penalty is the difference between teams and both teams messed up their chances, how those this prove that messi is better than ronnie?
Ihkhan (Real Madrid) 1 year ago
Yeah.... What differentiates messi and Roanldo is only the fact that Messi is very unselfish and passes the ball.... Other than that I don't find any differnce in overall quality of both players....
The moment see ronaldo starts passing the ball a lot more he will definitely overtake messi.
Jimyg (Real Madrid) 1 year ago
Wow!.... Two worst misses by portugal
Mahel11 (New York Red Bulls) 1 year ago
Danm, who is that portuguese player he took out 3 argentines inside the box one by one he was like"Next.... who else want it? "Was it Miguel Velaso?
Zmarcus (AC Milan) 1 year ago

Roet10 (Manchester United) 1 year ago

Hopelessthug (AS Roma) 1 year ago
Messi just owned another team this time purtegal where was the mean boy cr7?
DaGaza (Real Madrid) 1 year ago
Lol stupid question when he was the only one to score a goal for his team.... And messi only socred on penalty.... Plus the two playes really well I don't get why people can't give ronaldo a break.... Who else in the world can play like him and messi.... Instead of acknowledging the guy you people criticize him
Zhudayong (Barcelona) 1 year ago
Hahaha! Dagaza.... To me you are a very funny person to read!

Just because Messi has scored on a PK today, you won't allow us to rest. It seems like you care so much about 'em penalty kicks whenever it's done by Messi.
I guess it suits you to forget that 5 of CR7's goals came from PK in la Liga this season whilst Messi had just 2.

You definitely are a very funny person! And please do not think of it as to be sarcasm.... 'cause it's truly not
Ihkhan (Real Madrid) 1 year ago
Guys.... Don't forget two goals were scored by Real madrid guys and one by a Barcelona guy.... True Messi is a great player.... But you guys must learn to give credit to Ronaldo for being great too.... LaLiga is blessed to have two of the greatest playing here.... Learn to appreciate both...

Tons of easy missed chances by both teams

Welcome to soccer you can't score everything
RedNgreen 1 year ago
Messi always scores his goals in international games these past year at the very end of games, did it with brazil and now penalty today. Why can't he do it against a full strength team instead of when the opposite team is subsituted by the bench. Also when Messi scores a penalty its considers an amazing goal but when ronaldo socres a penalty messi fanboys say its a give me and nothing amazing. Why is their such double standards?
SIMPLYGODS (Barcelona) 1 year ago
Don't even compare them.... If you do all you'll find out is that messi is a lot better of a player whether its by himself or team playing
RedNgreen 1 year ago
Then why did it take a 90th minute penalty for him to score while ronaldo scored in the 1st half from the field of play?
SIMPLYGODS (Barcelona) 1 year ago
Watch both players, play in all their games, you'll see. Don't forget messi's amazing assist, plus he scored the penelty.... Get over it ronaldo is a one man minded player its been his downfall always.... He's getting better at playing more team work though i'll give him that
DaGaza (Real Madrid) 1 year ago
Simplygods.... All I seen here is you commenting crap after crap.... Messi is not ALOT better.... He may be better but its not by much or else there wouldnt be a comparison between him and ronaldo.... Second.... Argentina did what again? They never win a thing years.... The last thing they won was more than 10 years ago.... What did they do again? Win a friendly.... Amazing
Zhudayong (Barcelona) 1 year ago
@ RedNgreen: Tell me, what if your international team won a world cup final with a late goal, how would you feel about that goal? Does it truly matter to you that much that in football a goal is scored at the first second of a match than at the last second? Do you honestly think the result of a game differs according to when the goal was scored? Seriously dude!?
Fyi.... Did you know that this season Messi happens to have scored 8 goals as first goals in a game for Barca whilst CR7 has managed that only 5 times despite been by far Madrid's top scorer? What do you have to say about that?
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
I don't know who would say it was an amazing penalty, he just sent the keeper the wrong way. There are few goals that are truly amazing from the spot, Matt Le Tissier had quite a few, Zizou's chipper in the final against Buffon, Cruijff passing it to his teammate getting it back and putting it in the open net. However saying that it is impressive how often the Messiah sends the keeper the wrong way.

Why all the arguing though, it is undeniable they are both very talented players. Why don't you say, in my opinion Messi is better or in my opinion Ronaldo....

I think Messi is better, because he is a team player, he performs in big matches, he rarely rarely loses the ball and is super creative in the final third. But that's just what I think.

Lol have you seen messis heador? Have you seen the absolute worldclass pass to diMaria? Damn yor fckin field GOAL
DaGaza (Real Madrid) 1 year ago
@zhudayong.... I'm not one to argue online but jst to kill your mood.... Champions league (madrid-9, barca 3) la liga (madrid 31, barca 20) what do you have to say about that? Lol
Zhudayong (Barcelona) 1 year ago
@ DaGaza: It's funny how you can qualify someone's comment as ''crap'' based on the fact that you disagree with him. Have you heard of Piatti? He plays for Almeria. Lately his been ''compared'' to Messi though Messi is by far better than him. FYI.... Statistically speaking, Messi is much better than CR7.

E. G: (statistic taken ON december 31, 2010)

- CR7 has had by far more shots than Messi this season. However, 25% of Messi's shots whilst 16% of CR7 was gratified with a goal.

- 52% of Messi's shots was on target whilst 38% for CR7.

- Some people would led us to believe that CR7 has a better shot than Messi from off the box. Well, Messi with 1/4 less shots than CR7, outta' the box, has managed to score the same amount of goals with CR7 (3 goals).

- Considering the ratio ''goals scored/game played'' Messi has 24/19 whilst CR7 has 24/22. And speaking of period when a goal comes during a match well.... Statistically, Messi scores every 105 minutes while CR7 has to wait every 307 minutes.

- Speaking of decisiveness in terms of passes, Messi has managed 16 whilts CR7 has only 4.

- Passing accuracy: Messi has made a total of 695 and 590 of them were good. Whilts CR7 has managed a total of 588 and 429 were good. Meaning 85% of pass accuracy for Messi and 73% for CR7.

- On a dribbling scale, Messi succeeded 50 of his dribbles whilst CR7 had just managed 30 outta' all his attemps.

- Needless is to mention the huge influence Messi has on Barca's team (just remember the last classico in which Messi, though he didn't mesmerise RM with lots of his dribbling skills and goals, he brought sth in that game that CR7 almost never bring in RM.)

Ect.... The above been just a few in a long list
Zhudayong (Barcelona) 1 year ago
@ Dagaza.... Am not one to go and argue disrespectfully or without facts to back my statements just because I love or don't love a team.
Allow me to confess one thing: Despite been a Barca fan to my very last core, i'll never disagree with the fact that Madrid is the biggest club in europe in terms of trophies, the number of legendary players who played for them and so on. Those are simply facts. And I certainly will never argue against facts.
But if we have to state trophies or records then we might spend our entire life arguing. So let's cut the chase and though I assume it will be tough for you to agree, I want you to agree on the fact that of late (since 2 years ago) Madrid is far behind Barca. And I feel very very lucky to live this part of Barca's history. Sth you can't say for most of Madrid trophies you just stated above!

(JOKE).... I hope you get the chance to live such a successful period for Madrid.... Though I won't hold my breath seeing what Barca is capable of.

Hahaha.... Sorry dude!
Zhudayong (Barcelona) 1 year ago
I've watched CR7's games so many times that, personaly, I believe without his athlectic abilities he'll be ''nothing'' compared to Messi but just a regular footballer. He doesn't have Messi's ability to read a game or even decide a game in terms of interacting with his teammates and providing them with some astonishing and decisive passes.

They are both extraordinary players.... But please, there can only be ''one'' at the top.... And right now, Messi is on top and by far may you like it or not
BIJACK (AC Milan) 1 year ago
Should have been a draw
SIMPLYGODS (Barcelona) 1 year ago
Both portugal but argentina played well but argentina a bit better = win
Arandelovic (Juventus) 1 year ago
