The thing that I never understand about Croatian football is that although they have great talents, a very good team and a very nice, checkered shirt (I prefer though the blue version over the red one that Croatia seemed to wear against Norway) is that there is no single stadium (to my knowledge) which is any close to the European standards in the country - at least this stadium that I know the Croatian national team always plays their games on is quite odd: very high and distant stands to the pitch. It feels like there is no one watching the game there in the stadium if it were not for the noisy Croatian fans. I wish Croatian teams also considered renewing their venues as the Ukrainian teams recently have done and if you say, "oh, come on, it is because of Euro2012", I will point to you the example of Slovenia, who have done a very good job in terms of renewing their small but quite adorable stadiums
Not to brag but we croatian fans have a tendency to personalize stadiums ourselves by throwing or 'flaring up' unwanted stadium parts on the pitch or around it, I bet you don't have that in turkey lol
The Poljud in Split, is a 4 star stadia, but we always play our games in Zagreb, except when we get the 'glamor' teams in friendly games, we play down in that nice stadium in Split. However the Pljud is grossly underused, and it's a real shame. I do hope they Nuke the Maksimir and build a new modern stadium like Ireland did with their new 'Aviva Stadium' in Dublin
