If the champions league was played right from the beginning of the season and end 3 months later, Chelsea could've won it! They had an amazing start and somehow lost their swagger. But I do appreciate the fact that they managed to come back and even threaten to get at the same level of point as Manchester United.
All in all, I think they shouldn't be disappointed of this season and hopefully next season would be better in terms of consistency!
I think with the squad chelsea have, the players who are 25ish and the young ones like mceachran and sturridge, the future for them is bright. If they get the management question right they'll be a force for years to come. I think sacking ancelotti would be a big mistake. If roman's smart, he'll sign carlo to a five-year deal, buy some young guns and have faith. Carlo's a great manager, he deserves a chance to build his own side
Chelsea looked lazy up front. McEachran (sorry about the spelling) looks decent as did Shane Ferguson of Newcastle. Newcastle defended well and although we didn't hold much offensively we held our own. There was some 'meaty' tackles to say the least from Ramires and Lampard - and if it was Barton instead of Lampard I think it would have been a straight red. But who cares? A draw was fair for an under par Chelsea and a defensively solid Newcastle. The Toon should their intent at 1-1 on bringing two attacking wingers and another striker on. Howay the lads!
