Bravo wesley!
ColonelBX (Chelsea) 1 year ago
This was a great game by both teams, they both deserve the great or awesome rating

Nice drive shot by Wesley, no way Kawashima can stop that, but besides that, Kawashima stopped well, and both teams have very good chances.

1 - 0. But a very interesting, breath taking, amazing game. I say best game that this group will have in this world cup

Are you drunk or have you just seen slovakia - new zealand so far?  One of the most boring games so far...
[account-removed] 1 year ago
No, slovenia vs algeria was way worse
Teamiran (Bayern München) 1 year ago
Actually I couldn't disagree with you more ColonelBX. That was a pretty bad mistake by Japan's goalie. He should have had that. I don't understand how you could claim that there was no way Kawashima could have stopped that :S
ColonelBX (Chelsea) 1 year ago
I say that because it was similar with Kawaguchi's mistake in 2006 against brazil, junihno's goal.
They are both drive shots, and we all knw barely anyone in the j league can make drive shots like that
You can't see the ball carefully in the videos they have up here, but I saw this game LIVE, and when they replayed the goal, it was obvious that it was a drive shot, it didn't spin at all
Of course, I'm not a professional player, but I also know how hard it is to stop such shots like that as a keeper (Nakamura shot one at me at his school )
Anyways.... Yeah, either way, gud luck to jpn against denmark

Japan played great.
I'm very disappointed in Holland, that was just a bit above average.
After that goal holland did nothing more than waiting in the own half for about 25 minutes. No chances, no good passes no awesome game play as everyone expected. V. Persie clearly showing he is still not in form.
Japan almost scoring at the end.... If Holland keeps like this, they will not make any improvements in comparisson to the last Euro...
Kiwoli (Inter Milan) 1 year ago
I agree that Van Persie has been quite ordinary in the two games that he's played. But I reserve some of the criticism for Afellay, some terrible decisions that could have put the game beyond doubt or made this match a little more exciting than it actually were.

They still have Robben as a trump card though, I hope the team finds their form and we can start enjoy watching their football again

At least holland won the game and didn't disappoint like england, spain, france and germany did
Steveex (Borussia Dortmund) 1 year ago
The only disappointment for me are england and france.
Germany will pass this group as first and Spain will too.
No one said they have to win ALL games As for Holland, they can't be happy with their performances. Would Japan have scored the equalizer at the end, every comment here would be different
Barney1989 (Ajax) 1 year ago
Hehe maybe it was boring but we won 2 out of 3, only argentina has done the same so far.
What should we do when we play vs a country that's only defending, atleast we still managed to win unlike germany spain england and france.
Holland played well vs a good team and we could have easily scored 2 more but affelay sux

Only for the unpredictability of the jabulani ball, we'd have even more borefests, there is so much emphasise on defence in this games, if FiFA wanat to make footie more entertaining, then for tournaments such as the World Cup they need to reduce to 10 v 10.... And only alow 3 in defence.... That's how to make it entertaining
Just4Fun (AS Roma) 1 year ago
Yeah that would be nice.... Why don't they make it with no Goal keeper and allow playing with hands and call it soccer!
Com'on be realistic.... Football will stay like this forever "i hope" its just the tactics that changes.... I still find it interesting but least compelling
Xmac28 (Internacional Porto Alegre) 1 year ago
I still think FIfa should start thinking about some rule to penalize teams that play excessively defensive. These games are so boring to watch and, honestly, what's the fun in winning if your team put all your 11 players inside the box defending and scored a lucky goal? I surely barely celebrate when my team wins like that.
Maybe they FIFA should think about changing the offside rule. Inside the box only or just scrap it completely. For sure the matches would be WAY more interesting!
Phillydee (Chelsea) 1 year ago
If we had a better keeper--perhaps a foot taller, and a bit heavier--I think the overall rank of the Blue Samurai would go up in FIFA's eyes. That said, good strike by Snijder but poor keeping by Kawashima I'll take the moral victory here.... Heh.... Even though the Oranje didn't play to the level we all were expecting
Ahavor (Manchester United) 1 year ago
Japan deserved a draw in this game. Holland were lucky to get all 3 points
Stunna (Arsenal) 1 year ago
Are you kidding me man? Did you see the two sitters Afellay missed? This game should've been dead and buried so that people like can just keep their mouths shut, damn. Don't hate the player, hate the game
ColonelBX (Chelsea) 1 year ago
Are you serious?  Kawashima did great keeping
Stunna (Arsenal) 1 year ago
3 points baby, great teams win even when not playing to their full potential. Off course we have to improve our game as we step up the competition but I have no complaints whatsoever. BVM should stop being conservative and field a youthful team against the Cameroonian's in the 'rubber' match. Afellay and Elia should start on the wings, RVP and Huntelaar upfront. Drop Bommel or De jong (he's on a yellow) as we don't need two def midfielders in a pointless match. This is a chance for Bert to try new things without taking any unnecessary risks. Sneijder, Kuyt and Vdv should be rested

Haha See Interesting.... Japan Lose 1 Nil.... But 48 Great Votes To Them.... 33 Awesome Votes To Holland.... Great Strike By Sniejder The Goal Keeper Was Expecting Some Thing Else that's Why He didn't Gave A Good Hand On It And It Deflected In.... Congrats Holland.... Finally A Team To The Next Round.... 'cause The Rest Of The Groups Are Having So Tough Time And Still Out Of Decisions...
Antonig (Juventus) 1 year ago
I think I'm not normal. Because I'm the only one who thinks that
Was the Jabulani ball who won the game not Holland.

How you can blame the Gaol Keeper? He was perfectly positioned,
With a normal soccer ball surely would be a save, but this uncontrollable ball swerved like a balloon.

Antonio.... Forza Italia...
Tomiswedd (Manchester United) 1 year ago
That's probably what they said when they first moved away from the pigskin
Nuurkey07 (Manchester United) 1 year ago
Totaly agree
Metal4Us (Real Madrid) 1 year ago
Yeah Wesley Netherlands done it...
Ultrakoichi (Chelsea) 1 year ago
I only watched the 2nd half but Japan defended well but the Dutch had more opportunities and threatening. Because they were defending hard Japan were not likely to score. They went for a draw. Well done and kept the score minimum. If they get the good result against Denmark then they can progress to next round
AhmadSK (Barcelona) 1 year ago
Heh Japan isn't a bad side, these Asian teams really surprised me this world cup
Koentje (Feyenoord) 1 year ago
We Dutch are never satisfied. We always want to see nice soccer. So this is a little disappointing so far, but I won't complain. 2 clean sheets in 2 matches. We made 3 goals and got none against and we qualified for the next round. In the end only results do matter
