There are manly ways of determining the world's biggest club.... Most titles, best current team, most recent winners, ect.... I personally believe that AC Milan is the world's biggest because it has one the most international competitions in the world. That is arguable however, so what do you think?
Boca Juniors are tied with Milan for most International titles won, so you'd have to put them up there too. You know, going by your own reasoning and whatnot, =]
But Milan also do compete in Europe which in my opinion is much more competitive than South America, so it is harder to win a champions league in Europe than in South America.... So Milan's titles were harder to win than Boca's
Champions League's don't exist in South America. I mean, even as a Milan fan, I think that the title of the world's biggest club has to go to one which has maintained its success in the long-term. Milan last period of serious pwnage was in the nineties, although there was some in the noughties, but only in Europe. Currently, I'd give the title to Barcelona. Treble season, and continue to impress, albeit in the league only. Christ only knows what's happening in Europe
Well I believe there is an equivelant to the champions league in South America.... I have a feeling that Barcelona won't even qualify for the next round....
Yeah, same. It would suck not to have Iniesta in the Champions League too. I can do without the rest of the team, but I'd give my left leg to see Iniesta play.
Seriously? Everyone else goes out and buys all these expensive players, and all of a sudden, you think the team that won the UCL last year will fail in European competition? Let's see, who did the lose from that tame? Oh yea, eto'o who was replaced by Zlatan
That's not the point Gbherron. I'm basing my point only on the fact that they are not doing very well in their qualifications right now. I think they are an amazing team...
There are many biggest teams, there was fight between two biggest teams in world(madrid vs milan) but milan showed they are the biggest club in the world...
Well how about Milan? They have won more overall competitions than Madrid.... But financially, they are not as great. And they have plenty of young players, so they will do well in the future.... Abate, T. Silva, Huntelaar, Adiyah....
Manchester United is far by the most popular and biggest club in England. On the Manchester United page it said they had around twelve-thousand fans (and that is only on footytube!), while england only have around one-thousand fans. Chelsea and liverpool are very popular on footytube too. I think that Manchester United is most probably the most popular club on footytube (and I'm probably right about it!)
There was extensive debate as to the top 5 quite a few months ago (surprised I remembered it) located here
I'm not closing the thread but rather directing users for further debate.

If the debate is relative to fan bases then the brands of South America would have a far larger shout than Arsenal or Chelsea. Sao Paolo or Boca easily eclipse some of the clubs being talked about in this thread in terms of how far woven they are into footballing culture as well as the amount of fans.
The Premier League is currently relishing in a spell of European dominance and so it is inevitable that user's top fives will be almost exclusively English clubs. If you asked people 10 years ago the same question, Juventus, Inter and AC would be listed. The flaw in the question is the fact that clubs have powerful legacies in footballing history and it is impossible to ask who is the biggest club right now because it is an endless race, a game of catch-up. Clubs will always be striving to live up to the footballing brands of yesteryear, you can't restrict this debate to a time-period, only to the club's entire lifespan. This is why Chelsea or Arsenal will never hold any weight in this debate unless we are on the brink of domestic and continental dominance courtesy of either club.
Historic football clubs are the standard bearers for this debate and you should look no further than Real Madrid or the Southern American aforementioned
Biggest Club in the Premier League history? Everton. Most games played, most games won, drawn and lost. Although Everton is not a big club, this club has a damn history. (Biasness intended.)
I think Benfica is one of the biggest club in the history of soccer. They are founded in 28 February 1904. Benfica announced has reached the 200, 000 mark for paid club members. (known as Sócios) Benfica has won a total of 31 Portuguese Liga titles, 24 Portuguese Cup (Taça de Portugal, Portugal Millennium Cup) titles, 1 Portuguese League Cup (Taça da Liga, Carlsberg Cup) title, and 4 Portuguese SuperCup (Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira) titles. Internationally, Benfica has won 2 European Cup titles, 1 Latin Cup title, and 1 Iberian Cup title. In addition, the football club has 7 UEFA Champions League finals appearances, 1 UEFA Cup (currently UEFA Europa League) finals appearance
How about Ajax? I think they have produced amazing players.... Possibly best youth system around.... Huntelaar, Suarez (soon to be one of the world's best), Van der Saar, Johan Cruyff, Bergkamp, Kluivert, Van Basten, Ryan Babel, Wesley Sneijder, Rafael van der Vaart, John Heitinga and Nigel de Jong
