Top Clubs That Went Bankrupt
ACMilan21 (AC Milan) 2 weeks ago
There have been quite a few clubs that have gone bankrupt for some reason or other, and the only ones I can think of are Servette FC (Geneva) and Leeds United FC.
Both these clubs were brilliant clubs, and Servette even had some really good Champions League results.
Leeds was brilliant with players like Keane and Ferdinand....
What led such clubs into bankrupcy?
Who's to blame?
Any other clubs you can think of that went bankrupt?
Keong (Manchester United) 2 weeks ago
Newcastle can be consider also...
ACMilan21 (AC Milan) 2 weeks ago
Really? When did they go bankrupt....
They managed to buy some quality players over the past few years.... So they must have some money....
Keong (Manchester United) 2 weeks ago
If mike ashley still d newcastle owner, I dun think they will go far either...
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 2 weeks ago
Leeds Was sad. They had to sell keane, ferdialand, wooggate etc and they havent seem to come back to top flight football. Its a sad and unfair thing D:
ACMilan21 (AC Milan) 2 weeks ago
Well they are shining at the moment in the League 1. I think if they keep up the good work they will be promoted without a doubt
ManUK (Manchester United) 1 week ago
Hopefully, it was sad. I miss 'em they where title contenders
Tony (Manchester United) 2 weeks ago
I think napoli had big financial problems in the 80s-90s, I'm sure someone will know
Blueskiesahead (Chelsea) 2 weeks ago
Nottingham forrest was a pretty big club back in the 60's, 70's, and 80's
Omar (Arsenal) 2 weeks ago
A. S. Roma seem to be in debt trouble. Hope nothing disastrous happens to them!
ACMilan21 (AC Milan) 2 weeks ago
Roma are just corrupt.... All the money that is supposed to go to the club somehow never reaches where it is supposed to go....
I don't think they are really bankrupt, are they?
Keong (Manchester United) 2 weeks ago
Due to the poor management of the board or chairman of that club.... Leeds was d great example!
ACMilan21 (AC Milan) 2 weeks ago
Do you really think that's it?
Generally bankruptcy in a team has to do with bad sponsorhips/ turnouts to the stadiums, as well as just the amout of money the president is willing to invest...
Keong (Manchester United) 2 weeks ago
Yup.... Take a look at real, man utd or liverpool for example, they've got so much debts between them due to their current owner which bought the club by loaning the money from bank.... If they failed to win anything, they will be in serious trouble.... They must sell their star players to pay the debts like what leeds did, that's d start of the downfall.... Most of the team that d owner didn't loan d money from bank will stay problem free from bankruptcy...
Blueskiesahead (Chelsea) 2 weeks ago
Acmilan21, leeds had brilliant turnouts at their home matches. Many managers and players considered elland road the most difficult venue to play at. So the fans certainly cannot be blamed for the downfall of their club
ACMilan21 (AC Milan) 2 weeks ago
Yeah, not doubting that, I'm just saying that generally that is the reason...
Incuteration (Everton) 2 weeks ago
Wimbledon FC, this club got into the top flight in the English Premier League during the 90s I think then proved some magnificent results but I think declared bankruptcy later. No? I don't really know actually
Zach (Manchester United) 1 week ago
Wimbledon mainly went into bankruptcy due to the limitations of their area and stadium especially after the Taylor report following the Hillsborough Disaster. The report required all clubs in the top 2 tiers of English and Scottish football to have all-seater stadiums. Renovating Wimbledon's Plough Lane wasn't cost effective and there for the club's board proposed a move to Milton Keynes, some 56 miles north of Wimbledon. The club was relegated from the top flight in the 99-00 season and announced the move in 2001. The club then entered administration in 2003, sold almost all their players of value, moved to Milton Keynes, and in June 2004 reemerged as MK Dons, currently of League 1. In response to the move, fans started AFC Wimbledon in 2002 who now play in the Conference National
ACMilan21 (AC Milan) 1 week ago
Well, I guess you can see that back then the fans really did matter.
In the present, it's all got to do with sponsorships and owners.... MK Dons are a decent side at the moment
ACMilan21 (AC Milan) 2 weeks ago
I think QPR are also in huge debt....
But eventually a lot of teams will go bankrupt....

Actually that article is 2001 if you read the date properly
ACMilan21 (AC Milan) 1 week ago
Yeah I suppose they were. Doesn't change anything because they still have had financial problems.... I guess with the takeover of Al Fayed or whatever they are fine again...
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 1 week ago
What Happend to valencia. There was loads of talks about Dept Problems or something?
ManUK (Manchester United) 1 week ago
Huge problems, they stopped construction on their stadium. For a few weeks players wages weren't payed it was a crisis
Andydelz (AC Milan) 1 week ago
They are still in trouble. No talk doesn't really translate into problems solved. Predict Villa must go in order to resolve some money issues
ACMilan21 (AC Milan) 1 week ago
They need to sell Villa, but only for a huge amount of money. They will then get out of debt. Silva as well maybe...
ACMilan21 (AC Milan) 1 week ago
I still think that Leeds is having financial trouble.... Correct me if I am wrong however.
They haven't really seemed to be able to bounce back from bankruptcy and so on...
