Mike Ashley is not what you would call popular in Newcastle. I won't go into any great detail about his shambolic reign up to this point but I think it's worth mentioning that the stadium naming rights that Ashley put up for sale have now been claimed. By Mike Ashley's Sports Direct!
The stadium will be known for the rest of the season as "Sportsdirect.com@St James' Park Stadium". Quite a mouthful! It sounds more like an email address than one of the biggest and best stadiums in England.
It now sounds more like an MLS ground than the home of a club that are looking like they will be playing in the EPL again next year. I'm sure Newcastle supporters will be furious at this even though nobody in their right minds (with the possible exception of delighted Sunderland supporters!) will be referring to it as anything other than St James' Park.
What are the thoughts of footytubers regarding this controversial matter?
i heard they were going to call the stadium St jesse james Park as its run by cowboys
also there's the stamford bridge name selling off coming up too by the sounds of it

I don't agree with grounds being renamed for profit, no one cares about the fans or tradition. Building a new stadium {like arsenal} and having a new name is acceptable. But not auctioning the stadium name every few years.
Think you have give me an idea for a new thread salt,
The name of a stadium is filled with tradition and I think the only times a team's stadium should have its name changed is if 1. The team moves to a new stadium or 2. They decide to commemorate some person or event that has deeply touched thousands of people. In example having a stadium renamed to honor Sir Bobby Robson who recently passed away would merit a name change
