I'm sure we all saw the M City v Arsenal game or highlights by now. What do you make of Adebayor's actions? First, he stamps on RVP's face. Then after scoring a brilliant continuation goal, he runs the full length of the pitch to throw it in the Arsenal's fans face.

Adebayor had this to say after the game "To be honest, I'm very sorry for all this, '' he said. "Sometimes, the emotion takes over. That's what happened. I was very happy to score the goal. Before the game, people have been saying and writing things and the emotions took over. People who love me and know me know how I behave. ''

RVP had some harsh but completely understandable views of the incidents.
"I am sad and disappointed by my former team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor's mindless and malicious stamp on me, '' said Van Persie. "He set out to hurt me and I feel lucky that I have not suffered a greater injury. The contact was only centimeters from my eye.

"I knew he was aiming for a collision because he changed the angle of his body to allow contact to be made. He moved backwards when his natural momentum would have taken him forward. I find that deeply disrespectful. ''

"We are both professional footballers and I know that the game is physical. I, too, have made hard and sometimes mis-timed challenges but never with the intention of hurting an opponent, '' he continued.

"I have not received an apology from him, there were no words exchanged afterwards. He had his own agenda today and that is bad for football. It's bad for the game we all love.

"He has shown a real lack of class today, to me and the fans. We do not hide from the disappointment of losing the match but I need to speak out about his behaviour. ''

Do you guys feel Adebayor should receive some kind of ban, fine, or both? What's your take on what transpired?

Amayel (PSG) 2 years ago
Agree about Adebayor's agression, a very dangerous one, but if you see the all action Robin Van Persie Make a very dangerous tackle on Adebayor !

So what can we say? An Eye for an eye? ....

Profesionnal have to behave with class but we are human and we all make mistake !
Hope they will apologize to each other soon, even they aren't friend....
Blooob (Liverpool) 2 years ago
Alright forget the action against van persie but why go 90 meters back too frustred the arsenal fans
Amayel (PSG) 2 years ago
Because he is a kid ! Lol

Look what he did a the begining of the match, he was in Arsenal side making is end of training, just a few seconde before the game !
That's just provocation, like a kid !
Ant (Liverpool) 2 years ago
Adebayor was way out of line this match. I like him very much as a player but he let himself down very badly with his actions. The stamp looked horrible, but the celebration was just awful. The Arsenal fans almost rioted. How would he have felt if a kid was crushed in that crowd because of his actions?

I don't think he deserves a ban or a fine. I think Man City should handle it internally
Ant (Liverpool) 2 years ago
Turns out one of the stewards protecting Adebayor from the Arsenal fans was hit with a flying object and was hospitalised. I hope Adebayor would personally apologise to the steward.

The FA are looking into both the stamp and the stupid celebration

Dempsey (Fulham) 2 years ago
That's a shame. The stewards did brilliantly to keep the arsenal fans off the pitch
Vonrasmussen (Manchester United) 2 years ago
Man.... For whatever reason the celebration didn't bother me that much. But the stamp on RVP was awful and obvious. Some actions have to be taken against that crap either internally or externally
Yogan (Chelsea) 2 years ago
His agression was disgusting, scraping his boot down his old team-mate's face. We don't want to see that in English football anymore. His solo run was brilliant and he performed well through the match, but he would not have played all of it if the referee had spotted what he did to Van Persie. His goal was a brilliant header but he discarded the pride with a terribly disrespectful goal celebration which was awfully unsuitable. It was appauling
Santillanavila 2 years ago
Man why are there great players with bad personalities. Damm Adebayor learn how to control yourself. This guy should get suspended for a month. At the same time when he celebrated the goal the fans choose how to react so they have to share some of the responsibility. Great topic and title. What a shame what a disgrace
Amayel (PSG) 2 years ago
You know even Zidane had a lot of red card during is career because of such comportment, like Rooney, or even Van persie and I can add more players.... !

A great Player is a Player who got a specific personnality, and who got charisma !
Kingsickhead (Chelsea) 2 years ago
When the emotions come there hard to deal with. People keep saying he left for money he was'nt good enough we didn't really need him but imo Adebayor was the man of the match today and has been on form for Man City. But his attitude was atrocious. Even though it was the perfect way to get revenge to all the doubters and (and eye for an eye I say) but when your a top level professional like he is that not the attitude you shoyuld have give him a two match ban I say. Ps. Note that I didn't comment on the stomping because Van Persie deserve it for trying to clip Ade
Amayel (PSG) 2 years ago
You're the man ! Lol  I totally Agree, and even the tackle hurt nobody Robin Van persie Had the intention to hurt...
Blooob (Liverpool) 2 years ago
He hit fabregas too    Its fair to say adebayor had shown a side of himself people rather not see
Amayel (PSG) 2 years ago
Don't remember of that but during half time they talked together....  But I Agree with the rest, I didn't knew that side of him !
Blueskiesahead (Chelsea) 2 years ago
The celebration was one thing. I know a few people who would have done the same thing after they way arsenal fans treated him when he wore red. He was booed almost a whole season even while being their top scorer and he was still given no respect by the arsenal faithful.

The stomp on the other hand was a clear disgrace in which he should be given a ban (it should have been a red card afterall). Simply terrible display of an absolute lack of class
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 2 years ago
The Stomp has absoutley disgusting. If you rewind the clip (I DID 54 times or so with my uncle) then you will see he did look towards Van and then a slight second later he raked him. He had enough time in the world to avoid it but he didn't. I think he should get 8 match bannings.

As for the celebration. He should get a slap from gallas for that
Sam (Juventus) 2 years ago
I agree with the slap from Gallas! Or Bendtner LOL!

I also think that he should be suspended for the away tie at Arsenal.... Whats the point of letting Man UTD face a weakened Man City and reap the benefit of this suspension and Arsenal gets nothing! FA need to find a proper solution quickly!
Eric (Manchester United) 2 years ago
Well you know, I see what you're talking about with the stomp. At first I didn't think anything of it, but after seeing him look at van persie and then supposedly stamp him it is entirely convincing. The only thing that I doubt is that the action of looking and deciding to stomp him would be on the order of hundreds of milliseconds, as the replay is obviously in slow motion. The more I watch it the more savage it looks. The celebration was certainly out of frustration for notoriously fickle Arsenal fans and I kind of understand it.... But still a little over the top running all across the pitch
Amayel (PSG) 2 years ago
Sergio Ramos, Adebayor do it on purpose and we all know that !
Now what he make a huge mistake.... He will get ban that's it !

But please don't say that Robin Van persie try to get the ball ! I will not believe that !

Finally I just wanna know, does anybody know what kind of relation Adebayor and Robin Van Persie had in Arsenal?
Sam (Juventus) 2 years ago
2 things Ballinout:
1. Adebayor said that he DID see van Persie but he was unable to react in time to get out of the way, whereupon he proceeded to "try and go after the ball".... Go after the ball? Anyone knows that after a challenge like that you are not going to be near the ball so I don't know what ball he was going after unless he was talking about van Persie's head which he mistook (?) for the ball?
2. Arsenal fans are not fickle! All we want is for our players to show some heart on the pitch.... Everyone knows how notorious Ade had become as far as not going after balls and refusing to come back on defence.... He became lazy because of his playing status- he wanted the same adulation that Henry had yet he could not get one thing through his thick skull- there IS ONLY ONE thierry henry!
Eric (Manchester United) 2 years ago
Well I don't want to get into the Arsenal fans comment, suffice it to say that the Arsenal fans are just frustrated with the silverware drought.completely understandable. Also it seems that good ol' Ade has changed his tune with his new team eh? He made a number of defensive plays during the match. Anyway, it looked like it was intentional (the stomp) so he deserves a match ban
Juno (AC Milan) 2 years ago
Funny. I thought I saw SamX2004 (Juventus)? How come he's speaking like he's an Arsenal fan?
Ant (Liverpool) 2 years ago
Adebayor: "I heard that a steward was injured and I regret that. I would like to apologise to the steward for what happened."

The current threat is three matches banned for the stamp and three for the celebration, but they are unlikely to be awarded back to back. The violent conduct charge can ge given quickly, but the celebration charge will need to go through the processes and panels etc.

This reminds me of what Gary Neville did back in 2006.

Zach (Manchester United) 2 years ago
Tony Cascarino writing for the Times had this to say:
"Arsenal fans' abuse of Adebayor was horrifying"
"I’m not condoning Emmanuel Adebayor’s provocation of the Arsenal fans, but it looked as if many of them wanted to rip the striker’s head off just for celebrating in front of them. They were like caged animals. Adebayor’s getting all the blame but would it really have been totally his fault if a full-scale riot had developed? "

Absolutely yes.
1. As a fan at a football game, of course your amped up and liable to go crazy. I can recall quite a few times of jumping all over someone I didn't even know in pure hysteria at Old Trafford. Fans don't go to footy matches for a quiet afternoon out. I'd imagine you'd have a very similiar reaction in many sports if you ran down the entire pitch to boast in the opposing fans' faces. It's disrespectful, plain and simple.
2. Adebayor has always had a certain demeanor when out on the pitch and will never be called a great sportsman. Although his play was brilliant on saturday, some of his actions were terrible. Now the player could face up to a 6 match ban for the stamp on RVP and the celebration. Congrats...

Well said Zach, well said...

Let me start by saying that the stomp, was deliberate and thusly disgusting and shows his character. I see I am in the minority on this one but I feel that the celebration was awesome and understandable. How many of us have been slighted or felt slighted and wanted to show them there wrong. We love this "prove em wrong" kind of attitude on some occaisions but not on others. To those who say the stewards injuries are his fault, wheres the accountability of the fans, zach you say that the fans are"amped up and liable to go crazy" well what about the people actually participating in the game? Its foolish to say that adrenaline gives the fans an excuse to crush a guard, while the person who actually scored the goal has to control him self. Violently trying to attack a player on the field regardless of his celebration, is on a different level than simply facing and smiling at the same people who said you were no good. A ticket is not a pass to behave as an animal. No one says this of arshavins "shushing" the crowd after an away goal. Isn't any celebration kind of rubbing it in an opponents face?
Sam (Juventus) 2 years ago
I don''t think that Zach meant that having a ticket gives one the right to act however you please.... His point is that there were already bad feelings btn ade and the gunner fans.... It is so much easier for one man to keep his emotions in check than to try and hype up a crowd that was already mad about the thought that they were gonna' lose the game let alone the fact that one of their former players was contributing to it.... Trust me, if Toure had scored, the reaction would not have been nearly as volatile.... Maybe a few boos, but an invincible will always be loved
Zach (Manchester United) 2 years ago
The problem with the celebration is that he ran the length of the pitch to brag in the Arsenal supporters' faces. How many times have you seen a player run that far to celebrate? Not to mention that I've never seen Adebayor run so fast before....

What if he had run directly to Gallas, Van Persie or even Fabregas and done the same. Would they just stand there and allow him to mock them? I think not. That would probably insight more violence than what occured, and probably on the pitch.

I'm all for celebrating a great/important goal, but the celebration is suppose to be for your joy, not to piss off or shame someone else. Arshavin doesn't pick out one particular group of fans and target them directly. It's an away goal, so he does it to the whole stadium. Additionally, Arshavin doesn't have the same sort of tension or malice between those fans and what was present between Adebayor and the Arsenal support.

Adebayor knew what he was doing and probably got exactly the reaction he was looking for.
Yamsy (Liverpool) 2 years ago
Disgraceful actions from Ade.... Emotions might take over, but he should have known better than to slash RVP's face....
First time I saw it, I thought it was intentional, because of his quick, stunned reaction.... But after watching the replays (provided ofcourse by footytube), it was pretty intentional....
Btw, did anyone see that chair that was thrown?!
Pragathish (AC Milan) 2 years ago
I think ade hasnt gone mad.... All the arsenal fans booed him mercilessly, so he revenged with his goal celebration! But I think he is harsh for attacking RVP....
Yamsy (Liverpool) 2 years ago
I agree, sometimes it's not too bad for emotions to take over a player, that's why he went to the Gunner fans, but RVP was innocent...
Pragathish (AC Milan) 2 years ago
Absolutely true.... I didn't know why he chose RVP.... !
Afrodinho13 (Sporting Kansas City) 2 years ago
Yea the stomp was a shame but I still think that his celebration was acceptable. If they say you're no good, rub it in there faces. How is it ok for fans to sing songs mocking and taunting players and when the players do something back its a despicable display
