All of you Half witted monkeys have made me very humid in recent weeks. The matter of people calling lucas lieva of liverpool not good , or One of the worst players in this season. Well I have not yet found some one who will tell me why he is regarded as " Rubbish " .
On the LFC polls this week he has classed as one of our top perfomers:
(Poll Taken On Liverpoolfc.Com)
Now lucas has been far more creative then a lot of players this season , not just in our team . But many others. He has proved to us he is a valuable player , and also he shows more character then anyone thought he did . When alonso left he left a big hole in our system. Now lucas was young , very inexperienced but yet fought past the rest and showed rafa he can deal with the pressure of the premier league. Pressure that many cannot deal with.
Now people rate lucas so low becouse of his low reputation and style of play. He isn't very flashy but yet has a lot of talents , and has shown much creativism this year. He is also preety solid. He makes a lot of tackles in the game , keeps posession alot and can header a ball well.
Heres a Reference from epltalk.Com: " For us to label him as a flop is premature. A player doesn’t have to progress at Messi’s rate to become a world class player. Lucas deserves time and Liverpool fans should wish the best for him, however much he may struggle now or in the coming years. He is only 22 and already plays for one of the biggest clubs in the world. He is certainly on the right track."
Now I ask you , People of footytube...Do you Agree With me ?
Comment and Critique on your view of Lucas Lieva. But please Elaborate on your view , no One Liners!
Ok you can say that he will improve and he will be at his best at one time
But think about the stats.
Rafa has given at least 24 starts this season
But he hasn't got to the standards of passing the ball at least 20 yards. You can see that he can not hit the target from 18 yards which all the miedfielders can.
I can bet you that if Rafa had given 24 starts to Ryan Babel than he would have been at his best.
Then we would not have been talking about "Who will replace Torres? "
We would have been in the better position in EPL table.
So I still think that he don't deserve his starting XI place ahead of Aquilani.
If Rafa want to start Lucas than why did he paid 20 M for Aquilani.
I think Lucas is not the player who would be playing in the games against Chelsea or Arsenal neither Man Utd.
Aquilani must be in the Start before Lucas.
Ok you can say that after 2 years he will be a complete miedfielder but for now I don't think he is a right teammate of Mascharano
Did you even read the thread. I am saying he doesent deserve the critism, where in the post did I say he deserves first team football?
You say lucas hasn't got quality but yet have the mouth to say babel has more potential. I laugh at your debate. You havent been watching the same game as the rest of us have you. Lucas has been on top for us. Alberto hasn't been playing since the injury so withought lucas where the hell do you think we would have been? I am just plain and simply saying he is doing his best for the team and proggressing well as a player.
And you say you won't play Lucas againts a big team. Do you remember his perfomance in the united game? He was vital for the win. He got in sticky situations and won tackles. Also had assisted ngog for the second goal.
I never thought I would debate with a liverpool fan but go on
I think you wud be in a better position without lucas, maybe one of the younger mids you have would have got a game, or if you didn't have him it might have been gerard & masch in the mid, which is much better
Lol Who else? Picture it.... No one else but a random scouser called spearing who has shown me is not fast or strong enough for first team. I know his young but he couldn't do the job this year. Also besides the point lucas hasn't done a total mess of the job.... And you all forget he never asked for it. Liverpool needed a player, any player that could cope. Lucas was our man
That's right.... If we have enough money definitely he would not have played this much matches. But among the available players he is much better than others
Ouch Ramos! Didn't know you had it in you lol. But sometime Lucas is not on point. And when your playing at the top level, people are gonna' be very critical on you. So unless Lucas is almost close to perfect criticism will continue to be hard. I know it unfair but that how the footballing world is. Andi do agree with you
I'm one those guys who thought Lucas is just a crap and fit for nothing, but he proved me wrong. He had improved a lot. He is not the same Lucas who used to be. He is now acting as the main link between the defence and attack. His long passes and through ball are also better now. Many still call him crap and that is because they see him as the replacement for Xabi. But he isn't really a replacement for Xabi. Xabi is a holding mid-fielder who just makes some long passes and offers a lot of creativity. Whereas Lucas is more of a defensive player and he does his duty pretty well. Ofcourse he is not a big creative player but its Rafa's fault playing two defensive minded players(mash and Lucas). Aqualini is the real replacement for Xabi, so when you don't look lucas as a replacement for xabi you won't call him a crappy player.
He'll be a complete mid-fielder very soon. Sometimes I get a feeling that he is better than Mash. But there are a lot of areas where he has to improve, like shooting, Long passes etc. But overall currently he is pretty good and reliable player. Definitely not an amazing player but not a trash too. More than a back-up
Yea, he has a poor finish.... Kinda lacking of creativity too.
Still, I think I was wrong to judge him as rubbish earlier this season. However, I wonder what gave him the right to start in every single of our games this season apart from his endurance (When everyone else are taking turn being injured, he proves us that doing Samba keeps you healthy.) I'd like to see Macherano and Aquilani combo starting for us one of these days...

I've always liked Lucas and was quick to come to his defence when people so quickly write him off. I do agree with when you ask people to ask why he's rubbish they don't have an answer.... I believe there just following the crowd but they really don't know jack. Lucas will continue to improve steadily but surely. And its only a matter of time before The Kop starts Chanting his name away like Stevie G
I admit I am one of the half-witted monkeys that don't rate Lucas very highly. I have no doubt he will improve beyond all recognition, and be a very good player in the near future, but for now, for me, I don't think he has the quality needed to be in the centre of midfield for the most successful football club in English history.
When the ball falls to him, I kind of feel like I do when there is a corner and the ball bounces out to Jamie Carragher. No doubt Jamie is (was) a really world class defender but he is absolutely awful at shooting. You know some ballboy will be crawling out on the roof of the stadium in the rain, collecting the shot Jamie took earlier that day. Lucas kind of evokes the same feelings for me. When he has the ball, I have this dread that he just won't do anything very creative with it. I guess we were spoiled with Alonso whipping off 40 yard pinpoint passes last season, but Rafa and the backroom staff must see something in his training sessions that we almost never see out on the pitch.
So, in summary, my feelings for Lucas are that there are great things to come, but we badly need great things right now.
As a counterpoint, here's a compilation of him showing his stuff.
That's right. Now he must be used as a back-up and after 2-3 years he would turn into a very good player. Right now, Liverpool need some creativity in the center which Lucas can't offer. 2 DMF's who can't play the anchoring role is a bad idea. Hope Aquilani quickly settle to the premiere league atmosphere
Not good is not harsh he hasnt impressed me in anyway, I havnt seen him score a goal where I went wow, he hasnt made a pass for me to say that was impressive, he just does an ok job. People I think have the impression that when it was "the good times" at Liverpool he was the one loosing the ball. At the moment not many player in Liverpool squad are really playing well and he looks ok as his game has started to improve. When the whole team is playing well Lucas is outshone. Mascerano can take and make a brilliant pass and now Alonso the star of Liverpool fc last season was the pass master and now he is gone all you have is a guy who only makes the simple pass which isn't quite upto the Liverpool quality and his all round game needs improving but maybe he will
He does make good passes. Yes short ones but very positive ones too. One of his main attributes is winning the ball back and starting a attack outta' nothing, I won't say his game is nothing but your post does justify a lot of lucas ill respect that
Lucas Leiva-hmm.... Not bad but definitely not so good. Its okay, because at first he was like a crappy and a horrible player, but now I see him as a more fine and a confident central mid-fielder. He's developing day by day, that's a good thing. But still, I must say that he is currently NOT more worth than a back-up mid-fielder. Yes, as I mentioned earlier, he is not so good. His passes are just mediocre level, same with his tackles and his long shots are really horrible. So, I class him not more than a back-up player. But, this guy is JUST 22 years old. And is always hard-working, confident and ready to work his socks off for the team. These are seriously some good attributes, so in 2-3 years definitely he is going to be a very good defensive mid-fielder. But for now, he is just mediocre and definitely not a trash, as many call. Has superb future up-front, if he continues to work hard, as he does now
I would compare Anderson of Man Utd and Lucas. Both the players are not so good but NOT really trash. Both under-rated and over-looked and have a very good future. Hard working too
He isn't great.... But I'll accept him as a good player, even though I don't like him. Good topic, a place where we can discuss if he is really good enough to get Liverpool back to where they should be (he isn't :S) but he defends and attacks, a real box-to-box midfielder, the main man when Gerrard or Benayoun are out. I agree with Pragathish - he gets better every match. He's even playing for his national team so he must be good
Certainly lucas can up his game a little and may not be as good as other midfielders in the league, but he is still quality. Personally I don't find him to be the most creative player out there but he does his job. He is a hard working player who helps break up opposition play fairly well and doesn't do a half bad job of distributing play. You also have to remember that he has been given the responsibility of filling in for xabi alonso.... A very, very tough task indeed. Could liverpool do better? Certainly. Is he the best for the position he plays at liverpool? Perhaps. Does he deserve the constant critisism that he does from so many liverpool fans? Definatly not. At least he goes out there and works his absolute hardest, and that's the most you can ask of him
people rate lucas so low becouse of his low reputation and style of play
I think once a player gets a reputation of being rubbish, it becomes pretty hard to get rid of that label. You just hear his name and you automatically think rubbish! Its a bit unfair, really.
On another note, its surprising that he's Brazilian. I mean, really?
Arsenal have the same situation with Denilson as he is brazillian but doesn't play as if he was. He is labelled as rubbish and I agree with that label lol maybe its not the case that he is rubbish its just he is not up to the standards of the club he plays for and what they expect with having players around of top class
I won't label denilson rubbish at all, actually I rate him quite high. Him and song are looking to be top players for the future. They may not look very " Brazilian " but then again nor did Gilberto at his time at arsenal
You can't force anyone to like him or say anything good about him. Look you ever go to the highlights section and see people vote a side rubbish because they lost! Now that is aggravating. Lucas now he is not the worse player this season, he does his job he does what he is suppose to do. Maybe someday it will change you don't know.... But until then stop calling people half-wit monkey's. If I want to call him rubbish I'll call him rubbish.... If you don't like it deal with it....
Even though I don't believe he is rubbish, he can be much better.... But you never know maybe if he had new management things would be different
I'm not forcing anyone to like him, I'm just backing up my players like any fan should. Also I am sick of the critism our player gets. As it is exagurated and also on most cases excessive and un true.
Granted, Lucas hasn't been bad this season but he doesn't inspire confidence when he plays and its hard to see him becoming a world-beater! The problem with Lucas is that he lacks any creativity, or an X-factor if you like, He'l never try any killer balls or score any screamers from range, he's just happy to play short passes and leave it to the rest of the team. This is part of the reason we're not creating chances. I could make my peace with this if he was a great tackler but he's average at best, gives away too many easy fouls too. He's not exactly the model of consistency either so I'm not his biggest fan but as long as he's wearing the red of Liverpool I continue to hope that he comes good...
He is Rubbish. He's the most awful excuse for a footballer I've ever seen. His passing is disgraceful he loses the ball every time he touches it. He is the reason your out of the race for every major competition. I would be ashamed to have such a player on my team
