I Know its a little early to be judgmental on Glen Johnsons Account. But in recent weeks i've been thinking a lot.
Arbeloa was a decent estabilished player, like mascherano he puts defending before attacking. As we have seen already this season , the flaws of glen johnson has cost us quite a bit deal. Is liverpool missing our Right Back? I know all talk is on Alonso. But truth is going in front of goal is not the big matter , its defending.
Johnson is Great infront of goal. And a great playmaker. But he lacks serious defending capabilities. He scored an own goal and let asharvin score a scorcher already this season. Can we just rest on this Moral?
Johnson has already scored a couple of vital goals. And yes he has had his moments of insanity in defence, but then again, so has all of liverpools defenders. Johnson is a quality right back and will continue to improve. Arbeloa was good as well, but he wasnt good enough defensively to make up for johnsons attacking ability
Yes but a teams defending does not rely solely on the back four either. Liverpool's midfield was very good last season and the combination of mascherano and alonso seemed perfect. Now though, it really isn't difficult to get the ball (pool doesn't play possession football as well this season as last season) and then get past the midfield to attack the defenders. Yea johnson has had his blunders, but I don't know if arbeloa would be able to make a difference this season
Lool I dunno, I just have this faith in aberloa, remember the goal he scored last season, it seemed flukey but for some reason or another I saw a togethorness in the team, when liverpool faced hull earlier in the season and when they celebrated after the goal it was one of my proudest and happyiest moment as a liverpool fan when everybody made a huge group and celebrated togethor.
I just have this idea that aberloa was the better player, even going up, he wasent too shabbi, just watch a few of the early games. When the team had confidence he done well going up and obviousley defending
No, don't think so. And even though Glen johnson's defensive awareness is questionable, Arbeloa isn't a great defender either. Ofcourse he is better than johnson in defensive abilities but not a very big difference. Atleast Johnson could provide some attacking options. Now a days most of the liverpool's attack come from the right side and its due to Glen Johnson! So I don't think liverpool misses him but Johnson needs to improve his defensive abilities for sure
Arbeloah not giving any attacking Options? Really, he had some good stable combinations, and I believe we sold him just when he established himself as the true player he is, a lot like risse.
He only gained premature growth, and the true player was destined to come out, just look at risse now, he is doing good in roma!
I don't think so. Glen Johnson is much much better than Arbeloa.... He is better dribbler, faster and scores goals.... But he's only deffect is his inconstance...
Arbeloa defending is a bit better than Glen. Glen otherwise proof more deadly in attacking. But we can't blame Glen for his mistakes in defending because ever since he join Liverpool he's the only one who actually try to build an attacking play. Liverpool weakness to build it's chemistry in midfield prove that we are totally lacking of trying to build an attack through midfield. Now Liverpool just have Aquilani fit hope he can put a difference to build a chemistry in midfield and then Glen can play more defensively. I still think Glen is a good defender the only problem is our lack in attacking through midfield. So we can say Liverpool do miss Arbeloa but not that much
Lol you have to I believe. I think carragher was going nuts, after saying the back four was superb last season and even (I quote) " Solid ". So little flaws like that should not exist,
Johnson is like Ashley Cole but certainly isn't as good as a defender as him. They both like to come forward and play balls into the box. Arbeloa was certainly good but we all know Glen Johnson is better. But of course, with the way Liverpool are playing at the moment and the style they like to play, Arbeloa suited the right back position more. I don't exactly think they're missing him though
I certainly missed arbeloa after the arsenal and portsmouth games. Johnson's errors cost us those two games recently and I guess you could also say he is part of the reason why we have let in so many this season. On the other hand his performance against bolton and stoke earlier in the season made me forget who arbeloa was. Arbeloa could have never scored a goal similar to johnson's against stoke and his goal against bolton was really important. He equalized the game for liverpool, can you imagine arbeloa doing that? So I really don't know if we miss him or not. It would have been perfect if we still had him because degen is not good at all as a back-up and arbeloa can also play as left back
I am actually missing him a bit. I saw a few of games on footytube earlier of last season. And I saw that arbeloah estabilished himself really well in that position. I dunno. It might just be me and love for the liverpool players
Wow yeah I know what you mean, he was one great player for us. He gave a lot of composure, reminds me of kuyt at times his work rate was fab. Also his crosses were really good
Yes. Selling Risse is one of the worst moves Liverpool did. See, he is fast turning into a talisman for AS Roma! One of the deadliest left-footers ever. And what's funnier than this is that Liverpool got Andrea Dossenal (!) as his replacement!
But Aurelio established himself as the club's first choice left-back so it was a good desicion to sell him. But he was sold for a very low price, around 2 or 2. 5 M I think
Well that's Liverpool's mistake. Yes the own-goal ruined his career and I remember watching him do it live on TV. It's Liverpool's mistake because they sold him for one error. If we did that at Man Utd we'd get no where. Our Best players have all made big mistakes.
Big Error they did by selling him stupidly, they haven't had such a solid position back there since. That's really unfair to him since he did play so well and gave so much to Liverpool
