Ofcourse he is good enough to replace Xabi, but cannot be the same as Xabi. First he should get used to premier league and fit in to the squad. If he could then he can become even better than Xabi as he is pretty fast and attack minded than Xabi used to be
Maybe liverpool medical squad could made a special program for him like barca did for messi who in the last season didn't get injured and he used to get injured regulary
Maybe or may not be!A risky transfer made by rafa.... And even if he can replace Xabi, he is very much injury prone! And in EPL its more of a physical play, so its going to be tough for aquilani and LFC.... But surely he can a give an extra boost for liverpool, no doubt!
He is a very different player than Xabi, Xabi was a fantastic passer who could distribute the ball from deep in the midfield, he was our midfield's engine. Alquilani likes to get forward and attack, he has superb vision inside the area, pace and a wicked strike from distance. In my mind, as far as midfielders go, Xabi and Aquilani are almost complete opposites, so no I don't think he can replace him. But he will bring something else entirely to the team, I think if he can develop a relationship supporting Torres and Gerrard moves back into the midfield, we can be very strong for the rest of the season. Of course the injuries are a concern but hopefully he can stay healthy and keep developing as a player
Few can pass the ball as brilliantly as alonso could, and aquilani is no different. I also don't know if he can take the pressure being put on his shoulders to replace madrid's midfielder
Alonso was tiger with his rough Hard character, Aqualini is tender dear with his italian romantic character.
Last 3 season Alonso played average 40 games scored average 4 goals per year, other hand Aqualani played just average 25 Games and scored average 2. 5 goals per year
He is a good player but he has been injured a lot, it is gonna' be though for him because the EPL have players that can be really hard on him.... I doubt he will give much compare to Xabi
They are 2 different players. Alonso sits deeper and sprays the long passes better in my opinion. Alberto is more an attacking midfielder and gets forward more.
And like others have pointed out, Alberto gets injured too much in my opinion. He has not had a full season for Roma before his switch and that is risky business by Rafa for me.
