RonanKnows (Arsenal) 5 years ago
I don't even think United-Arsenal is an "official" rivalry
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 5 years ago
And I would say, Liverpool United is the better fixture anyways but that's just me
RonanKnows (Arsenal) 5 years ago
It definitley shows for better entertainment
Agspiratos (Panathinaikos Athens) 5 years ago
Back in the day it was, or at least in my opinion
ZidaneTheLagend (Liverpool) 5 years ago
No Once A Great Intresting Darby Alway That Way For Ever
Momoali (Liverpool) 5 years ago
Man utd vs l'pool is the greatest darby I think
Charrua74 (Tottenham Hotspur) 5 years ago
Man Utd v Arsenal may not be an official derby but there is still plenty of passion and an intense dislike of each other.

ACMilan21 (AC Milan) 5 years ago
I think there are a lot of great rivalries in the world. Although people do not think so, some really big ones take place in the Americas.
Firstly River Plate against Boca Juniors, and secondly, Cruz Azul against Club America.
The biggest however, I think, is the Milan derby, because the fans hate eachother with passion. Both teams are in the top 3 biggest clubs in the country, and they are from the same city. They also share a stadium so some rivalry is expected.
Others to note are Marseille - Paris, Arsenal - Tottenham, Birmingham - Villa, and Fulham - Chelsea.
Finally, Al Ahly - Zamalek.
BonitoJoga (Barcelona) 3 years ago
Like mr. Ac milan said, arsenal tottenham, manchester united and city, I would have to say though, real madrid and barcelona, as much as this is an english site, we all have to admit they are the two biggest clubs in the world by fan base, and their history of rivalry goes waaay before football, as the catalonians were seeking independence from spain. And every el clasico we see now. Never fails to impress us
Agspiratos (Panathinaikos Athens) 5 years ago
Panathinaikos vs Olympiakos, is probably the most serious but I'm sur eyou guys have something to say right
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 5 years ago
Don't know much about that one, but I am sure it is a great rivalry
ZidaneTheLagend (Liverpool) 5 years ago
Yeah That's Alway's A Really Good Match And So Important For Both Team's To Win
Momoali (Liverpool) 5 years ago
I don't now about this one
BenBro (Liverpool) 5 years ago
True, olympiakos ALL THE WAY! Sorry had to say it d
ManUK (Manchester United) 5 years ago
Yes you are the most intense Liverpool vs Man Utd I think, but Madrid vs Barca means the most
Momoali (Liverpool) 5 years ago
Well that was true but after this season not anymore
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 5 years ago
No one is saying Celtic vs Rangers besides me? That is such a historic rivalry, and it as classic as the "el clasico" with even more passion if that's possible. I mean that one go's way back
Agspiratos (Panathinaikos Athens) 5 years ago
This is true over 100 years of history
ManUK (Manchester United) 5 years ago
Great rivalry that is
Hill (Arsenal) 5 years ago
Its even got the religous aspect in it doesn't it? Protestant vs Catholocism. I'd say this one for sure
Gerrard17 (Liverpool) 5 years ago

Ellada10 (Olympiakos Piraeus) 5 years ago
Man utd vs man city
Yesyesdan (Manchester United) 5 years ago
Its a strange game for Man UTD fans as if united win then its what everyone expects and nothing is said but if city get a point they make a DVD about it. The rivalry isn that intense as it is against Liverpool. When that game comes round the whole of the north west stands still
Momoali (Liverpool) 5 years ago
Nah that aint nothing
Samdagooner (Arsenal) 5 years ago
Celtic v Rangers is massive, Barca v Real is up there, Manchester United v Liverpool, Boca Juniors v River Plate, Club America v Chivas, Inter v Juve/Milan, Olympiakos v Panathinaikos, Ajax v Feyenoord, Fenerbahce v Galatasaray, Red Star Belgrade v Partizan, Dynamo Kiev v Shaktar Donetsk all the ones I can think of right now
Agspiratos (Panathinaikos Athens) 5 years ago
Totally forgot about River V Boca
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 5 years ago

Agspiratos (Panathinaikos Athens) 5 years ago

Yamsy (Liverpool) 5 years ago
Their both from Lisbon.... Its a huge derby in Portugal...
Momoali (Liverpool) 5 years ago
Yeh that's true
RonanKnows (Arsenal) 5 years ago
As an Arsenal fan I'd have to say Arsenal-Spurs.

Other than that it would have to be Fenerbahce-Galatasaray, West Ham-Millwall, Barcelona-Real Madrid, or Rangers-Celtic
Momoali (Liverpool) 5 years ago
Arsenal Vs Spurs is always a good match really good match
StrikersMT28 (Seattle Sounders) 5 years ago
River/Boca is the most violent and the one with the absolute craziest fans. Although, I think Chelsea/Liverpool has put itself on the map as the greatest rivalry of late
Agspiratos (Panathinaikos Athens) 5 years ago
One time a team from greece, PAOK, lost against Olympiakos so they trashed thier bus and wrecked the refferees car yea crazy fanz

ManUK (Manchester United) 5 years ago
LoL um.... I can't name any I'm not big into that American stuff
Match (San Jose Earthquakes) 5 years ago
SF 49ers v Dallas Cowboys (hand-egg tackle ball)

SF Giants v LA Dodgers (baseball)
I hate southern california sport franchises

San Jose Sharks v Anaheim Ducks (hockey)
Fresh rivalry
Hill (Arsenal) 5 years ago
Nah. I'd say Cowboys v Redskins
TFoAV (Manchester City) 5 years ago
Red Sox-Yankees is probably the biggest MLB rivalry. I'm sick of both teams, but their rivalry has taken on a whole new level since the Red Sox actually started winning their fair share of games.

Cowboys/Redskins is the biggest NFL rivalry; Canadiens/Leafs used to be THE biggest in NHL, now idk. Lakers/Celtics is undergoing a rivalry in the NBA.

As for football.... Barca/Real. It's crazy how one domestic rivalry has THAT much impact on Europe and the world
Barca4life09 (Barcelona) 5 years ago
This is a soccer forum you freakin americans
Momoali (Liverpool) 5 years ago

BonitoJoga (Barcelona) 3 years ago

[moved]
Agspiratos (Panathinaikos Athens) 5 years ago
What did you say
Momoali (Liverpool) 5 years ago
Greece Vs Turkey the underdog darby lol
Agspiratos (Panathinaikos Athens) 5 years ago
Portugal vs england
Momoali (Liverpool) 5 years ago
England Vs Scotland
Syraph (Real Madrid) 5 years ago
Italy vs brazil is the world's derby because they're the most successful national teams. Real madrid vs barca is club football's best rivalry because you have to consider the divisions in spain and the history behind the rivalry. (we're talking about Franco and the spanish monarchy naturally supporting madrid to a point where the catalans had nothing that belonged to them except their football club)
Agspiratos (Panathinaikos Athens) 5 years ago
I would say argentina vs brasil, the kings of south america
Syraph (Real Madrid) 5 years ago
Yea, argentina vs brazil is a very bitter rivalry
ManUK (Manchester United) 5 years ago
That's a crazy one
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 5 years ago

ManUK (Manchester United) 5 years ago

Agspiratos (Panathinaikos Athens) 5 years ago
Lol
Momoali (Liverpool) 5 years ago
Funny times
Andy (Rangers) 5 years ago
I obviously think the Old Firm is huge *cough*1-0*cough* but some of the derbys in South America have seen deaths in years gone by. Any derby featuring bloodshed eclipses our seemingly mild encounters ;P FourFourTwo has been doing a monthly segment on fierce derbys for a couple of years now and they are well worth a read.

As far as the Old Firm goes, protestants vs catholics is a very rough description of it, I am a fan who thinks this is not necessarily the case, but rouge elements in both sets of fans tend to dominate and skew overall perceptions due to the media
Agspiratos (Panathinaikos Athens) 5 years ago
I was wondering when you would comment
ManUK (Manchester United) 5 years ago
Yeah It took a while
Momoali (Liverpool) 5 years ago
Lol
Agspiratos (Panathinaikos Athens) 5 years ago
USA vs Mexico
Match (San Jose Earthquakes) 5 years ago
No team has won a game away from home for the last.... 10 years (give or take). US beat mexico the last encounter (2-0), next game is in mid august.... Provided swine flu is completely under control. I'm predicting riots in mexico if the US wins. They better have good security for when it goes down
Agspiratos (Panathinaikos Athens) 5 years ago
Haha lol
ManUK (Manchester United) 5 years ago
Afterwards Half of Mexico will be dead. They'll break in to the US with a giant mob and The army will have to kill them all
Agspiratos (Panathinaikos Athens) 5 years ago
Sounds about right
TFoAV (Manchester City) 5 years ago
Yeah, there's absolutely no love lost between the US & Mexico. That's a nasty little rivalry. Match is right, there will be complete and utter chaos WHEN the US finally beats Mexico in Azteca. And with the crappy form that Mexico's been playing with, it could very well happen in August
Pocketg99 (Arsenal) 5 years ago
Riots WHEN the USA wins
Agspiratos (Panathinaikos Athens) 5 years ago
Haha lol, I don't think so
Hill (Arsenal) 5 years ago
Honestly, it is possible. They take their footy against America seriously down there. It is pretty much the only thing that we haven't spoiled for them. We've f****d their economy, and their politics up, football has really been the constant they dominate us in. At least at home
Momoali (Liverpool) 5 years ago
That's always a match to look forwed to
Nick22590 (New York Red Bulls) 5 years ago
Hell yes. Not the best of the best, but it's up there. I hate the Mexican national team with every drop of blood in my body. I'm going to go to a Mexican-heavy area of my city the day they loose out on South Africa 2010 and wear my USA shirt and tell them where to go. They think they're god's gift to football, when in truth, they're garbage
