Good Player But Wrong Club?
Charliehenry (Arsenal) 2 years ago
There are alot of transfers now and players moving from club to club, so what players do you think have made a bad selection of clubs and possibly ruined there career or at risk of doing that now?

Here are two player I have selected:

Alexander Hleb - Barcelona
Temptation was too much and decided to leave arsenal for Barcelona and didn't really consider whether he would get a game with the number of quality players they have and is now on loan at Stuttgart, the same club Arsenal signed him from.

Diego Forlan - Man United
Made the right choice to go to spain and able to pick up his career but ManU or the premierleague didn't seem to suit him. When he went to Villarreal things turned around and is now see as a key player for Athletico Madrid. Lucky to have moved from ManU straight to Villarreal after his poor goal per game record

Pragathish (AC Milan) 2 years ago
Yeah, I feel sorry for Alex Hleb.... He was glorious at Arsenal!I would rate him as one of the greatest dribblers.... Damn.... One bad move and now he is playing at Stuttgart.... Sigh
Yogan (Chelsea) 2 years ago
Definitely Hleb, Prag and Aeaglan are so right. He messed up there and barely started. Maybe it was just for his recognition, but now he's gone right down the ranks. Poor choice sir
CHELSEA61 (Chelsea) 2 years ago
My number 1 choice for this topic would with out any doubts be Robinho. He is one of two players that gets the nod as starting striker for the best team in world football (Brazil). When it comes to the English game he isn't physical enough or his style isn't suited to the defensive play or ________.... You fill in the blanks? I'm not entirely sure why his form has slipped so badly at Man City but he is a far better player than what we have witnessed this year so far. The problem he will have now is that his stock has fallen so badly who will pay him what he wants to play for them? Or will he go back to Brazil Like Ronaldo and fade into the woodwork?
Charliehenry (Arsenal) 2 years ago
Well right now it looks likely that he will be heading back to Brazil which is a shame as when he joined city he was seen as the youngster who was almost guaranteed to become a world player of the year someday. His move to Man City was a real shock and has really affected his career. His choice to join City has wrecked his career massively but benefited City as he has attracted other players to join
Pragathish (AC Milan) 2 years ago
Great topic Charles. Here are my picks:

Kaka
Yes. Kaka was so talismatic in Milan and lifted the whole team in his shoulders. But now, what is he doing at Madrid? He doesn't even look like Kaka!Yes, of course, it wasn't his fault moving to Madrid. Maybe its too early to tell, so I hope Ricky proves me wrong!

Thierry Henry
Some may argue that he is still good at Barca, but all I want to say is that he is never the same player as he was used to be in the Arsenal outfit. He made football look so easy, and arguably one of th best strikers in the history of the Premiere League. He isn't the same now.

Michael Owen
Was a hero at Liverpool. Could have even turned into the world's greatest striker if he hadn't chose Madrid. He didn't find quality playing time in Madrid and was constantly criticized. Then followed his Newcastle switch and injury crisis. Now he must consider himself lucky to be a super-sub in Man Utd. A very big striker wasted by a bad move, i'd say
Yidarmy4lyf (Tottenham Hotspur) 2 years ago
Saying kaka sounds a bit biased to me, he's only just got there and he already ownd the midfield in la liga
Pragathish (AC Milan) 2 years ago
A bit harsh I know.... But still he hasn't made any huge impact for the team like he did in Milan
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 2 years ago
No Kaka is a flop. Look at the team how they play with him.... And the difference when he isn't. For me, van der vart plays better in the system
Pragathish (AC Milan) 2 years ago
Poor Kaka....
Charliehenry (Arsenal) 2 years ago
Kaka really has made a bad choice but maybe he is happy that he is getting the games and will win trophies but I think he will never get player of the year again when you are next to the likes of Ronaldo, But early days
Pragathish (AC Milan) 2 years ago
But it wasn't Kaka's decision. Berlusconi went mad after seeing hard cash
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 2 years ago
Owen never really cared about liverpool. He even admitted he cared more for his international duty.

In portugal 2004. When rafa benitez got assighned, he pulled togethor carragher, gerrard and owen in the city and asked all of them to stay by thier rightfull team. What happend? Owen left.... For newcastle. Shows his loyalty and love for the club eh
ManUK (Manchester United) 2 years ago
True, I mean he supported Everton as a boy, Not Liverpool. He was never as dedicated to Liverpool as Gerrard or Carrahger
Pragathish (AC Milan) 2 years ago
He was the loser anyway!
TheTorresBounce (Liverpool) 2 years ago
Owen left for Real Madrid then newcastle sergio
Rockerr (Liverpool) 2 years ago
Ricardo Quaresma
He was a star while playing for porto but after joining Inter he is never been the same. He has sick skills but is wasted at Inter. He could have easily became one of the best wingers in history.

Ryan Babel
Just like Quaresma, he should have become a star now. He was looking great at Ajax but in liverpool, he never played up to his potential. Though had a good debut season at livepool never played well in the next few seasons.
Pragathish (AC Milan) 2 years ago
Ha yes!Quaresma!Every time I see one of his old clips, I feel really bad. He is such a BIG talent.... Now wasted....
Charliehenry (Arsenal) 2 years ago
Hmm with babel I don't see him playing many games he said he is a striker so why is he not playing upfront with Torres? Liverpool's season hasnt gone well and having Babel still on the bench isn't going to give him much confidence it shows Rafa doesn't believe he can come on and change the game and Babel wants to make the world cup squad but its not looking good for him
Rockerr (Liverpool) 2 years ago
With both Torres and Gerrard injured, he may get a chance now!
Aeaglan (AC Milan) 2 years ago
Great topic!

Andriy Shevchenko:
He was one of the world's best strikers, the '04 Ballon d'Or winner led AC Milan in '03 to Champions League triumph & is currently the 4th highest goal scorer in the competition's history. He also played a vital role in the 2005 champions league campaign, taking Milan to the finals before losing to Liverpool.
Suddenly in '06 he jumps on a plane & moves to Chelsea for £30. 8M. Since then, he has never even came close to the form he had with Milan. Although he briefly returned to Milan last season on loan, he has little impact on the team. He is now back playing for Dynamo Kiev.... What a mistake he made moving to chelsea
Yidarmy4lyf (Tottenham Hotspur) 2 years ago
Damn I was guna say him
Pragathish (AC Milan) 2 years ago
Good ol' Sheva.... Yes.... Feel bad for him. Definitely one of the best striker in the world
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 2 years ago
Preety much one of the Biggest hit and Misses of the century. Great player at milan. He pulled the team togethor. Excellent charisma in his play. But he just felt a bit home sick at Chelsea. Not having his usual 70+k fans I guess.

But seriousley, one of the best strikers in this century
Pragathish (AC Milan) 2 years ago
He once said he moved to Chelsea only because of his family. Wish he had stayed at Milan.
Charliehenry (Arsenal) 2 years ago
Possibly the biggest flop EVER! Before he came to chelsea I considered him possibly the best in the world and then £30mil was top top money and he was a real let down he has never come close to being the same player
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 2 years ago
He did score a hat trick lol never knew a goal costed 10million pounds
ManUK (Manchester United) 2 years ago
Rich people these days...
Rzv36 (Real Madrid) 2 years ago
Samuel Eto'o was a prolific goalscorer at Barcelona (scored in 2 champions league finals)but he took a wrong way going to Inter....
Another bad move was Ronaldinho at Milan.... At the age of 28 he left Barcelona were he spent his best time of his career and I think if he stayed at Barca he could have been the best player in the history....
Adamaus (Manchester United) 2 years ago
Firstly with Eto'o where else did he have to go? Pretty muich no where and no going to Inter wasnt a terrible decision it doesn't suit his style as much but he didn't have alot of options.

Ronaldinho to Milan a bad decision? The reason he left barca is because they didn't want him anymore, he was in terribly bad form, form that some could argue he hasnt recovered from, and from what I remember hearing there wasnt alot of option for where he could go. I remember hearing City were interested and wanted to splash the cash for him. So he chose to go with a club that already had recent success. I think he made a pretty good choice when considering where he was and now where he has started to show some of his old self
Pragathish (AC Milan) 2 years ago
Both players you have mentioned were forced to leave the club. And yes, like Adamaus said, they have chosen the best possible clubs
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 2 years ago
Why why why did they do the deal. Barca are nuts
ManUK (Manchester United) 2 years ago
Barca are outrageous. He just won the Champs League for the first time, top goal scorer, top everything. Went down in the history books, and how to they treat him? They sent him off to Milan, Not only that, but I think he's better than ibra. And they offered 40m PLUS Eto'o. This kinda treatment of players make me sick
Pragathish (AC Milan) 2 years ago
Eto'o-Ibra deal is plain useless deal and a BIG waste of good money. Ibra is no match to Eto'o while he was at Barca
Yidarmy4lyf (Tottenham Hotspur) 2 years ago
As a spurs fan i've gota go for bentley & pavyluchenko, granted they havent had too many chances but they has underperformed massively & seem to have lost a few years of they're carrers. Shame as bentley was a massive prospect for england(still could be if he gets out soon). Pavy was a panic buy to try & lure arshavin there, but turned out to be a dud.

Also I think veron when he was at united for the money he went for & also david nugent when he went to pompey
Blueskiesahead (Chelsea) 2 years ago
When pavlyuchenko has played, he really has impressed me. I find he is one of tottenham's best strikers. Just a shame he isn't played more
Pragathish (AC Milan) 2 years ago
Yeah, spurs has too many strikers. Sad that he is wasted there
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 2 years ago
Paulo aint doing bad. Just hasn't got a chance to play. He aint exactly a favourite of the manager at the moment.

But he still bags goals for his country.... And good ones
ManUK (Manchester United) 2 years ago
Pavy probably be played more, but I don't think he's as good as Defoe, he could never take him out. As for Bently.... What you said
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 2 years ago
For me its Bloody Voronin....

Took the bundisliga by storm, forced rafa to turn away a 8 million pound bid by Hertha Berlin and what does he do? Misses sitters in the champions league.

Well good riddence to that ukranian rubbish
Pragathish (AC Milan) 2 years ago
Haha yes! When he returned to Anfield after his superb loan spell in Hertha, I seriously believed he is a very good striker and would definitely help Liverpool. Now I know what kind of player he is.... Thank God, Liverpool somehow got rid of him
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 2 years ago
Oh why I believed in the same thing at the time. I remember at mid table I saw hertha belin at the top, and voronin the top striker. I was impressed and so I told all my friends how one of Rafa's Random buys were paying out....

Seems I had rubbish judgment all along haha
Charliehenry (Arsenal) 2 years ago
Sergio I think you were right I thought wow all Voronin needs is a couple games and he will get the goals after his time at Hertha, then came back and returned to the same he was and he was quite highly rated before he joined liverpool. I guess you guys seem to just pick the wrong guys sorry to say
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 2 years ago
No Offence Taken. Its a fact we have to live with. Rafa hasn't got the best scouting skills ill say. Players I thought that would make a big impact like leto, babel and ofcourse voronin):

ManUK (Manchester United) 2 years ago
Haha, Voronin sucks. Rafa deffo doesn't have the transfer skill of other managers. I think his only really great buy is Torres. This is the first time I can really see them giving him the Axe
Rockerr (Liverpool) 2 years ago
@manUKfcorse Rafa isn't great in transfers but not that bad. It's him who brought xabi, reina, Benayoun, Mash, riera, Agger. So many great deals but also some poor deals
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 2 years ago
I think we only look at the negative at this poor time. If the injuries dissapeared and the players were influenced by the kop once more. You would think different
ManUK (Manchester United) 2 years ago
I know, but thy haven't. And I'm not the one saying Rafa should go. I'm just saying at this point I can see it happening
Bloodbrothers (Barcelona) 2 years ago
Torres when was playing in atleti, in spain before he went to liverpool a lot people consider him a average player, now he is one of the best
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 2 years ago
He was actually a good player there. He was just scared and intimidated as he was always refferd to as ' the kid '. When he arrived at liverpool, rafa gave him the confidence
Pragathish (AC Milan) 2 years ago
I always wonder how he transformed Torres into a superstar. And the fact that he got El Nino for just 20 Million Euros sickens me. Wow!One of the best transfers ever!
ManUK (Manchester United) 2 years ago
It was pretty amazing. In one season he went from "the kid" to the worlds best. He's one striker any club would love to have. Including Man Utd
Charliehenry (Arsenal) 2 years ago
He did have a big reputation before as one of the best young players world wide but after his first season at Liverpool I think he is now seen as a world class player instead of youngster, he has kinda lost that label now. Its just a shame he keeps on picking up injuries
Bloodbrothers (Barcelona) 2 years ago
In atleti he was a promise he never won the pichichi in spain he noever scored more than 19 goals
Riggs (Manchester United) 2 years ago
All these players that went to madrid had their careers negatively impacted.

Anelka
Beckham
Owen
Van Nistelrooy
Robben
Huntelaar
Robinho
Makalele
Macmanaman

Many more I'm sure.

And one manager: carlos quieroz

Real madrid: where great players go to die
Rockerr (Liverpool) 2 years ago
"Real madrid: where great players go to die"  I agree with that statement completely!
Pragathish (AC Milan) 2 years ago
That's spot on!
MyRaJ (Barcelona) 2 years ago
I agree at this point, Real Madrid has ruined many good football players, sometimes do not like how to transfer players, if you buy something should use it not to keep him on the bench not to play, as he did with many good players...
Charliehenry (Arsenal) 2 years ago
I don't know what it is but even if you are a good player its not enough for madrid players seem to be in and out. Think you can add these also:
Wesley Sneijder
Rafael van der Vaart
Woodgate
Baptista
Thomas Gravesen
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 2 years ago
Bayern are killers. What Happend to Podolski?    I once Rated him over Torres. I honestly did D:
ManUK (Manchester United) 2 years ago
That's exactly What I've been saying!
Charliehenry (Arsenal) 2 years ago
I agree he has looked so good for Germany during his time at byern but then he couldn't even get a start for them. He was mistreated and had missed out on alot of playing time as he was probably Germany best player
Pragathish (AC Milan) 2 years ago
Same goes for Luca Toni. But now I'm glad to see him scoring goals and helping Roma
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 2 years ago
Yeah. Two italians reunited. I'm sure he will extend the loan at the end. It looks likely
ManUK (Manchester United) 2 years ago
Curse Bayern D: At least he's with Roma, scoring goals. I bet that makes you happy Sergio
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 2 years ago
Haha it does
Incuteration (Everton) 2 years ago
Owen went from a really good potential striker in Liverpool to a bullshit "impact" sub in Real Madrid. He rarely plays and rarely doesn't gets injured. I say Real Madrid ruined his life and wasted all his talents especially he was in his prime at that point of time
SergioRamos (Liverpool) 2 years ago
Haha who remembers owen over there.... Nobody. But he did get back on his feet.... More to the point alot of players have had downfalls over there. What happend to salgado, directly after sighning a contract he got kicked in the nuts by a servilla youngster. But honestly they aim to make big names of players but really they just lure them in and kick them out when another player is better and buyable...
ManUK (Manchester United) 2 years ago
Agreed, I mean look at Robinho now, He had tons of potential and nows he's.... Well that really is his fault
Pragathish (AC Milan) 2 years ago
Robinho to Mancherster City?
Sigh.... He has made a bad decision twice. First choosing Madrid, now choosing City over Chelsea

SergioRamos (Liverpool) 2 years ago
One Word : Lol
Charliehenry (Arsenal) 2 years ago
I wouldn't say that Madrid was a bad move it help him get a big reputation and he delivered at times at Madrid as for City that's clear to see he shouldn't have gone their but only he knows why he chose to leave Madrid.
Maybe Santos will be the next bad move in his career as he is taking a step back. Bad agent is what I say lol
ManUK (Manchester United) 2 years ago
Two Words: True! Lol
