Gennaro Gattuso:should Milan Sell Him?
Pragathish (AC Milan) 2 years ago
Leonardo's new formation with 3 players up front has brought success to Milan-But there is no place to fit in Ringhio.
Reports suggest that Gattuso is wanted by clubs like Chelsea and Manchester City and he is frustrated by the lack of playing time at Milan, by openly threatening that he would quit the club if he wasn't given playing time.
Gattuso has only started in seven games for the Rossoneri and undoubtedly he was a shadow of his former self!
To add fuel to the fire, his campaign so far has been riddle with injuries and suspensions.
So, does it imply Gattuso is no more wanted at Milan? What is going to be his role in Milan's revival?

Personally, I feel that Gattuso should not be sold-nobody can forget his glory days-hunting down possessions in the middle of the park, fighting, flying and making the pitch into a battle field! He fought like a warrior and was the heart of milan once. 11 long years in the service of Milan-he was a class act, no doubt!
I think he needs to be motivated and given some role in the midfield. I believe Leo will come up with a good solution for this problem.

So what do you think? Should Gattuso leave or stay?
Yogan (Chelsea) 2 years ago
Leave. He's getting old, fat and I just don't like him (mainly because he is not very good at football).... - oh, and he's good friends with Marco Matterazzi
Pragathish (AC Milan) 1 year ago
Coming to the heart of the topic --  Allegri has done what I wanted - Motivate and revive him
Rockerr (Liverpool) 2 years ago
Okay, lets leave the fact that he is very old as most of the milan players are around 30 years old. So it is not a big problem. The important thing is whether he plays well or not. Remember Seedrof, Pirlo, Ambrosini etc all are nearly of his age, if they can manage a place so he can.
After the change in the formation by Leo, three players (Gattuso, Flamini and Ambrosini) are competing for that one position(RM). So obviously if he plays well he is gonna' get the chance but he isn't doing that but threating to leave.
The mistake is not with Leo but with Gattuso. Leo has also told that he'll give him chance but on rotation basis but looks like he wants to start every match but it is not posssible.
So if he accept the rotation policy he should stay else leave. IMO he should go to the place where he'll be started every match.
It's better both for him and the club!
Tony (Manchester United) 2 years ago
Someone like arsenal could do with reno gattuso, he's a good player, and just what arsenal lack in midfield.  I would, nt mind him at united.
Ktorum (Manchester United) 2 years ago
I agree! At his best days he is a machine!
Incuteration (Everton) 2 years ago
No. Milan cannot get him to leave, they should sell that Ambrosini, although he is the captain. I don't see what's he doing on the pitch, he doesn't provide accurate passes, his shooting is not so good, he is not as agressive as Gattuso in defending. Gattuso should replace him and Ambrosini should go to some Asian clubs like what most players do when they are old
Rzv36 (Real Madrid) 2 years ago
Gattuso is 32 years old.... He is too old for someomne to buy him. I think in max 3 years he will retire from Milan.
Milan needs to form their team from scratch. Ronaldinho, Pirlo, Nesta and Seedorf will play for max 3-4 years.... The team is too old

Maybe I could buy him, the kids are forever asking me for a little pet dog

I give it headbuttz
Tony (Manchester United) 1 year ago
Well this is an old thread now, I think his career should finish in disgrace after last nights escapade, lifetime ban methinks, he's finished anyway
Rockerr (Liverpool) 1 year ago
'f*****g Italian bastard' this is what Joe Jordan has said to Gattuso. I think Joe Jordan should be banned for making such a racist comment on Gattuso.
Also I don't think his career is over, his career has already revived under Allegri. He just had one bad match and lost his cool. Just like Zidane
Pragathish (AC Milan) 1 year ago
Exactly. This reminds me of the Zidane vs Matrix case. And know what, most of the people (me included) think Zidane was right.
But
I do agree beating a 60 year old is downright classless, in the same way, a 60 year old or anyone should never make pathetic and sort of racist comments like these
Tony (Manchester United) 1 year ago
Is there proof joe said this?
Theres proof gattuso transgressed, the world seen it, I never heard anything said though?
If joe said that, I would be very disappointed, and harry said nothing was said
Pragathish (AC Milan) 1 year ago
Gattuso:
"I was nervous. We were both speaking Scottish, something that I learned when I played in his home city of Glasgow, but I can't tell you what we said."
His agent has revelead what he said --

Will Jordan publicly accept that he made a racist comment? Not a chance.
I haven't heard any refusal from Joe,so for me it is safe to conclude that he did sledge and provoke.

Either way,its a nasty gesture from both
Marcinny (New York Red Bulls) 1 year ago
As a rule of thumb, I never believe agents. They are spin doctors, public relations manipulators.

If Jordan said that he should apologize publicly. But as I said, I am willing to forgive Gattuso for placing his hand on Jordan's neck during the game. It is in the heat of the moment and we are all human.
What I can't understand is his effort to restart the physical clash after the match ended. It was not a knee-jerk reaction. Everyone has one once in a while in his life. This was going and looking for someone specific in the crowd.
So, no, I can't accept moral equivalence in this matter. And believe me I have always been a great admirer of Gattuso
Tony (Manchester United) 1 year ago
The problem here is WE SEEN what gattuso did throughout the match, not just the joe jordan incidents, and he's as guilty as hell.
What joe jordan is supposed to have said IS an allegation, not a known truth, lets get that straight first and foremost, and ANY court in the world would back joe jordan, you can't hang someone for hearsay. Which is what it looks like from reno's agent, why not mention it at the time, not the next day?
And anyway, if someone elderly did call me an irish bastard or whatever, I would laugh it off, I certainly wouldnt be doing what gattuso done.
What would have happened had joe taken a heart attack?
Sam (Juventus) 1 year ago
Where is the accountability for coaches and trainers on the sidelines? Are they just allowed to mutter anything on the sidelines and get away with it because the players can't retaliate against them? Joe Jordan has always been notorious, esp in his playing days and I doubt he was trying to win Gattuso's affection by yelling pleasant nothings at him.... I'd even venture to say that he was trying to coerce some kind of retaliation from Gattuso and that way, hurt Milan's chances in the game and the overall tie. I am no Milan apologist but Gattuso had every right to stand his ground. Did he have to headbutt the man? No (although he probably deserved it!) Is Joe Jordan cunning in trying to get the man in trouble? Yes. Is he within the rules of the game in doing so? Apparently. Will he suffer any consequence for it? No!

Whatever happens to Gattuso, Jordan should have the same punishment meted out to him- fines, suspension, the works!
Rockerr (Liverpool) 1 year ago
When I saw the headbutt video on youtube, I was wondering whether that was the headbutt everyone is talking about.I mean that doesn't even look like like a headbutt for,I was expecting a zidane's style headbutt.

Maybe it is an overrated head butt
FootyRulz (Chelsea) 1 year ago
Well regardless of what it was, it was wrong to have done and I know he was provoked into doing it but hopefully no one gets punished or anything and they just end up apologizing and moving on
Rockerr (Liverpool) 1 year ago
Looks like he could be banned for a match.

One match ban is fair IMO
Tony (Manchester United) 1 year ago
We can't guess what joe jordan said lads, that's out of order, theres no proof as yet.
In any case he didn't deserve what gattuso did, I thought it was disgraceful, and IF joe jordan did say anything racist, I would be very disappointed in him, and harry, who would have heard it.
On another note, outside of the manager, other club staff should not be in the technical area in the first place, then incidents of this kind couldn't happen
Tony (Manchester United) 1 year ago
Btw, I DO hope uefa are looking into the joe jordan incident on gattuso's behalf aswell, because if joe did say whats being alleged, he needs to leave the game pronto, but as I said above, you can't hang an innocent man, and up until now, that's just exactly what he is
Pragathish (AC Milan) 1 year ago
And Galliani too confirms Gattuso indeed was provoked....

Still I agree, it is not an official 'proof' but it is crystal clear that Joe Jordan DID say something to provoke the likes of Gattuso. (not sure whether it is racist or not)
Gattuso wouldn't search and destroy him for no reason.... Gattuso is an emotional guy, but definitely not a psycho to hit a 60something guy for nothing.

One match ban is all fair, all I'm trying to prove is Gattuso IS not a disgrace to football and nowhere near being a 'thug' or whatever the people and the phony English media portray him to be.
Tony (Manchester United) 1 year ago
I suppose it all depends on what was said, if anything, and in what context was it used, gattuso was pretty well fired up by this stage and I don't think it would have taken much to make him explode, but if someone uses the race card, I hope they are using it in the proper way, I hate racism, but too many times it can be misconstrewd, or lies told.
So theres a lot to look at, because calling someone a racist when they are not, is a terrible crime aswell
FootyRulz (Chelsea) 1 year ago
A one match ban seems fair enough, yes he totally lost his cool but he was provoked and it's no secret that Gattuso can get aggressive sometimes, It really depends on if he really was racially insulted or not
Marcinny (New York Red Bulls) 1 year ago
He was one of my favorite players of all time, but last night, I felt like I could punch him in the face myself. Acting like a thug with a guy twice his age? And this Gattuso is the mature player from which the young ones are supposed to learn. Give me a break.

That he placed the hand on Jordan's neck during the game was too much, but in the heat of the moment people will do stupid things. But this was not an isolated incident. And forget about trying to start a fight with Crouch during the game. What is truly unforgivable is his effort to find Jordan again after the match ended. That is premeditated assault. That is no excuse for that and in my opinion he can shove his later apology
Tony (Manchester United) 1 year ago
I always liked gattuso, especially at rangers, but I seen a far different side to the man last night, and I think it was down to frustration at his own team were unable to deal with spurs, and he wasnt able to make any inroads, and ended up like a petulant schoolboy, throwing tantrums, punching the ground.... Finito.... Chill man
FootyRulz (Chelsea) 1 year ago
What he did was wrong yesterday but there's no reason to act like this kind of thing has never happened in football before. Regardless of what happened he is still a good player and has started to play better and slowly revive his career ever since Allegri arrived. Maybe it was just one bad game for him that night and we should move on from that incident with him and Jordan
Marcinny (New York Red Bulls) 1 year ago
Gattuso is lucky to be an Italian. Players from larger nations with traditional football are better posed to escape harsh decisions. He also plays for a massive club.

As for those who try to minimize his blame by justifying it with the words supposedly said by Jordan, I wonder why Crouch had to do with it. He was lucky that Crouch did not go down, but Gattuso did his best to start a fight with him in the pitch mind you for no understandable reason.

Gone and forgotten this incident, but life is long and the Milan player should be careful of his reactions. Real life can be much meaner than a panel of UEFA officials
FootyRulz (Chelsea) 1 year ago
Well looks like he's been banned for 4 matches. I guess in the end even the words from Jordan wasn't enough evidence to prevent this from happening. As a senior player he should have though twice before he did what he did
