WHO WAS THE first british TEAM TO WIN A european trophy?    Answers on a postcard:
Tony 1 year ago
This ones got them googling like f**k.... Lol
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
Glasgow Lions isn't it? Celtic
Jesuriya (AS Roma) 1 year ago
Is it nottingham forest
Jesuriya (AS Roma) 1 year ago
Liverpool
Pragathish (AC Milan) 1 year ago
I'll go with Liverpool as well...
GreatScot (Rangers)(Footytube Staff) 1 year ago
*grudgingly* I think it's Celtic! Although I do know that Rangers were the first British club to reach a European final, sadly we got beat though!
Tony 1 year ago
All wrong.... Lol, do a bit of research lads.... Lol
Rangers being the first team to reach a european final is wrong aswell, as this answer will prove
Tony 1 year ago
I will give the answer tomorrow, if no one gets it
GreatScot (Rangers)(Footytube Staff) 1 year ago
Ok I did a bit of research and now I know, but I won't say until so Tony can reveal the answer tomorrow, I definitely seen it say on Wiki that Rangers were the first British team to reach a European final though, I'm off to check that out again now!
TheBarcaShow (Anims Tito) 1 year ago
Spurs. Cup Winners Cup in 63. Definitely googled it
Tony 1 year ago
Not even close mate
TheBarcaShow (Anims Tito) 1 year ago
Ok.... Did some more snooping.... How about West Auckland who won the Sir Thomas Lipton in 1909.

If that's not it then it is Glentoran FC winning the Vienna Cup in 1914
Tony 1 year ago
Your correct, it was glentoran winning the vienna cup, which was the forerunner to the european cup, which is now what we all know as the champions league.
There were only 4 teams involved in the compo, and glentoran from belfast won it.
Nice bit of research barcashow
TheBarcaShow (Anims Tito) 1 year ago
I had to look on a forum posting to actually find it    Anyways everyone was stumped if it weren't for google
Tony 1 year ago
They {glentoran}, were also the only team in the british isles with 3 registered club colours, red/green/black.
All other clubs in britain only had one colour, like liverpool {red}, or teams like man utd who were {red and white}
Even clubs synonimous with having 3 colours, didn't have.... Ie:, rangers red/white/blue.... Which is wrong, its blue/white.
Just thought I would throw that one into the mix barcashow.... Lol
Another useless bit of info
TheBarcaShow (Anims Tito) 1 year ago
That is pretty cool stuff. Off the top of my head I can't think of any other teams with 3 different colours. Brazil is the only one which kind of pops to my mind but the green is always just a tertiary colour compared to the yellow and blue
Tony 1 year ago
Brazils not a british club side though.... Lol
TheBarcaShow (Anims Tito) 1 year ago
Just saying in general there aren't many clubs which have 3 colours
Jesuriya (AS Roma) 1 year ago
Who was the first player to score with 5 different clubs in champions league competition? This one will be easy like the previous one...
Pragathish (AC Milan) 1 year ago
Clarence Seedorf?
Jesuriya (AS Roma) 1 year ago
No...
TheBarcaShow (Anims Tito) 1 year ago
Ronaldo? Anelka?
GreatScot (Rangers)(Footytube Staff) 1 year ago
Is it Luis Figo?
ManUK (Manchester United) 1 year ago
I'll go for Anelka
Jesuriya (AS Roma) 1 year ago
No friends. No even close...
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
Hum some kind of journeyman striker. I would have to guess Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ajax, Juve, Inter, Barca and Milan, nice one though Jesuriya, this one is tough, don't know if Ibra is right
Pragathish (AC Milan) 1 year ago
Hernan crespo or Bobo Vieri right?
Jesuriya (AS Roma) 1 year ago
Pragathish thambi got it right.... It is crespo. Donnchadh you also got it right ibhrahimovic was the second player to do that
Jesuriya (AS Roma) 1 year ago
GreatScot luis figo played for only 4 europian clubs.... Lol
GreatScot (Rangers)(Footytube Staff) 1 year ago
Lol I just took a stab at it!
Pragathish (AC Milan) 1 year ago
Great!  Keep 'em coming bro!
Jesuriya (AS Roma) 1 year ago
Which player did de rossi elbowed and got sent off in world cup 2006 match against usa?
ManUK (Manchester United) 1 year ago
I believe it was Brian McBride
Jesuriya (AS Roma) 1 year ago
Manuk got it right
GreatScot (Rangers)(Footytube Staff) 1 year ago
How many own goals have Brazil scored at the copa America and the World coup combined?
ManUK (Manchester United) 1 year ago
You mean in just the last tournaments, or all time?
GreatScot (Rangers)(Footytube Staff) 1 year ago
I think its all time mate!
ManUK (Manchester United) 1 year ago
I have no idea haha, I'll go with 38
GreatScot (Rangers)(Footytube Staff) 1 year ago
38 own goals! I don't any team has scored that many at international tournaments! Lol

No amazingly it's 0! Acording to opta stats Brazil have never scored an own goal at the copa america or the WC!
ManUK (Manchester United) 1 year ago
Well It's brasil, I figured Robinho put in about half of those lol
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
Who was the first player to ever win the balon d'or?
Micky (Chelsea) 1 year ago
Stanley Matthews, the wizard.... Who else?
ManUK (Manchester United) 1 year ago
1: When did Ajax first win the Uefa Champions league?

2. Who are the four players Manchester United have signed for more than £25m?

3. Who was Tottenham Hotspur's shirt sponsor in 1996? (shirt sponsor like Aon or Emirates)
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
1.) 1971 I believe it was against Panathiniakos, they won two more after that one Cruijff, Neeskens, and Rep up top, defenses must have been terrified haha

2.) hum this one I am not so confident on, maybe Cristiano Ronaldo? But he was young when he was bought and somewhat unproven. Eric Cantona, Dimitar Berbatov, Edwin Van der Sar?

3.)no idea but I will take a classic one and say crown paints haha
Rockerr (Liverpool) 1 year ago
2) Ferdinand, Berba, Van der sar and Rooney?
GreatScot (Rangers)(Footytube Staff) 1 year ago
2) Ferdinand, Rooney, Berbatov and Valencia maybe, I know it's not Van Der Saar, he was only a couple of million I think!
3) is it holsten pils?
ManUK (Manchester United) 1 year ago
Donchad got #1 right, although I must say it wasn't the hardest question ever haha. On # 2 Rockerr and GreatScot both got 3 out of 4, Juan Sebastian Veron was the one you both missed. With Ferdinand, Rooney, and Berbatov being the others.

I didn't really expect anyone to get #3 It was Hewlett Packard (or HP electronics)
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
OK I am going to go with a somewhat easier one and one that is more difficult

Bit easier: Who is the leading goalscorer for Fulham since the top flight in England has been called the prem de la prem

Pretty damn hard: How many goals did Stevan Jovetic score in his debut season with Fiorentina
GreatScot (Rangers)(Footytube Staff) 1 year ago
Ok the easy one i'll start with.... Bobby Zamora maybe?

And the harder one, i'll just have a stab at and say.... 23!

Pragathish (AC Milan) 1 year ago
(Just reminding myself the rules : No google, No wikipedia!)    I'm going with Zamora as well.    Next, uh maybe 11?
ManUK (Manchester United) 1 year ago
The first one is Gordon Davies I think, but for the harder one.... 15 goals? Just a complete guess

Edit: oh you said since the top flight became the premier league, so then I'll guess Brain Mcbride for the easy one
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
Haha the easy one is still pretty difficult, the hint I will give is that he is not British and has scored a goal in the past two world cups.

The second is really quite difficult so I will give a big hint, and say it is low, he more than doubled this tally in the champions league alone his next season
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
The first one is Clint Dempsey and the second one was a little ridiculous I realize haha, he scored 2 goals, than scored 4 in the champions league his next season. Really like both these players though
Pragathish (AC Milan) 1 year ago
Which player scored the most headed goals over the last five Serie A seasons?
GreatScot (Rangers)(Footytube Staff) 1 year ago
I'll go for Hernan Crespo!
Rockerr (Liverpool) 1 year ago
Totti
Pragathish (AC Milan) 1 year ago
Neither.
I must say though, Crespo's a decent guess, the man has scored a slew of headed goals in his prime time, but the mind you, we are talking only about the last five seasons!
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
I would have to guess Ibrahimovic even though he missed a season. Good one though Prag, Ibra may be wrong I really don't know
Rockerr (Liverpool) 1 year ago
Trezegol?
Pragathish (AC Milan) 1 year ago
No no.... Keep guessing guys, keep guessing
Pragathish (AC Milan) 1 year ago
Little hint: He's an Italian and has scored 24 goals with his head in last five seasons
ManUK (Manchester United) 1 year ago
Di Natale? He's Italian
Jesuriya (AS Roma) 1 year ago
Gillardino?
Pragathish (AC Milan) 1 year ago
Jesuriya gets it right, it is Gilardino!
Jesuriya (AS Roma) 1 year ago
I have seen many times his shots on goals hitting the goal post and bouncing back.... So it is exciting to watch him play Lol.... But I really din't know that he scored the most number of headed goals
Pragathish (AC Milan) 1 year ago
Many wouldn't know this, but Gilardino has a superb heading ability despite being only 1. 84m long
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
Nice one Prag I was thinking it may be one of the Italian guys at Juventus guess I was wrong on that one as well haha
TheBarcaShow (Anims Tito) 1 year ago
Di Natale was the first to pop into my head but I am surprised about Gilardino
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
Whose goal scoring record did Rual break this season for European club competition goals in their career?
Jesuriya (AS Roma) 1 year ago
Inzhagi...
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
Ya you get a point for that one, he did pass Inzaghi in "CL" goals, but there was another European legend and World cup winner who he surpassed in European goals. This guy played before it was called the champions league
GreatScot (Rangers)(Footytube Staff) 1 year ago
Eusebio?
GreatScot (Rangers)(Footytube Staff) 1 year ago
That was the first name that popped into my head!
Peteko 1 year ago
Eusebio is not a world cup winner.    Maybe a German like Gerd Mueller. He was a beast.
Tony 1 year ago
Boniek? .... Is he that far back? . I hate googling stuff, ruins the fun
Tony 1 year ago
Just thinking, he's not a world cup winner.... Lol
Mullers a good shout peteko, one of my fav players.
I could live with that one.

Baldy charlton
Jesuriya (AS Roma) 1 year ago
Alfredo Di Stéfano
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
Peteko got it with Gerd Muller, der bomber his first coach at Bayern Munchen called him the "short and fat one" haha

Peteko 1 year ago
Yeaaah. I was right. He was something, wasn't he. Der Bomber indeed
GreatScot (Rangers)(Footytube Staff) 1 year ago
Who were the last team to win the SPL in Scotland other than Rangers or Celtic?
ManUK (Manchester United) 1 year ago
Dundee United?
Juno (AC Milan) 1 year ago
I'm 90% sure that it must be one of the team playing in SPL
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
Hibernian
Juno (AC Milan) 1 year ago
Hey, Kaden, you changed your statement since I posted
GreatScot (Rangers)(Footytube Staff) 1 year ago
It was Aberdeen in 1984-85 season, ManUK you were close you had Aberdeen in there the last time I checked!

Juno your guess really narrowed it down! Lol
ManUK (Manchester United) 1 year ago
Yes I did change it, I just decided on dundee united after thinking about it for a while
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
This one was a cool one GreatScot I enjoyed it, really illustrates the dominance of the Glasgow teams just curious, has anyone one else besides Celtic or Rangers won the Scottish cup recently?
GreatScot (Rangers)(Footytube Staff) 1 year ago
Yeah Dundee Utd won it season before last against Ross County in the final, a couple of season's before that Hearts beat Gretna(who are now bust) in the final! Cup competitions always throw up a surprise every now and again!
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
How many teams participated in the first World Cup tournament in 1930?
Jesuriya (AS Roma) 1 year ago
10
Peteko 1 year ago
13
GreatScot (Rangers)(Footytube Staff) 1 year ago
Was it not something like 8? I remember hearing this a while back, yeah i'll stick with 8!
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
Pete got it with 13, GreatScot I commend you with going with your gut though Jesuriya nice profile pic, you've had that one for a long time haha
Jesuriya (AS Roma) 1 year ago
Yea.... I drew my profile picture...
Tony 1 year ago
Which italian serie A team has the words "cricket club" after its name
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
Brescia? Or Chievo
Jesuriya (AS Roma) 1 year ago
Napoli or genoa or juve
GreatScot (Rangers)(Footytube Staff) 1 year ago
Genoa, i'll go for, I think you can only guess one team! Lol Either that you could just print the entire serie A teams!
Tony 1 year ago
Genoa it is, hey jesuriya, 3 guesses? .... Lol, don't be hedging your bets.... Lol
Jesuriya (AS Roma) 1 year ago
I finally narrowed down to those three clubs so I wrote all of those three.... Lol.... But any how I got it. Lol
Jesuriya (AS Roma) 1 year ago
1) who is the first player to score goal in two champions league finals?

2) which english football player played a century scoring opening wicket partnership in cricket with australian great mathew hayden?

3)who is the player to have won champions league with 3 different clubs?

4) who is the player to have played in both football and cricket world cup?

5) who designed the present men's football world cup trophy?
Peteko 1 year ago
I know only the third one:    3) Clarence Seedorf (Ajax, Real, Milan).    I am also a complete dodo when it comes to cricket.
ManUK (Manchester United) 1 year ago
Yea.... I don't know cricket at all :/
GreatScot (Rangers)(Footytube Staff) 1 year ago
Is No. 1 Messi, with both being against Man you?
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
Number one is Sammy Eto'o in the 2006 and 09 finals. Have no idea about cricket, peteko is right that it is Clarence
GreatScot (Rangers)(Footytube Staff) 1 year ago
Yeah your right, I thought it said the "only player" straight away thought of Messi!
Jesuriya (AS Roma) 1 year ago
1st one is raul. Second one is garry neville. Fourth one is sir vivian richards. Fifth one is silvio
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
Haha nice GreatScot on the Messiah game me a chuckle. If anyone is curious about the Messi one I posted, his boyhood club was Newell's Old boys. Cheers
Lifeguard (Bayern München)(Footytube Staff) 1 year ago
This seems like a really interesting thread, lets see if we can't revive it fellow footytubers
Peteko 1 year ago
Great idea lifeguard
Donnchadh (Liverpool) 1 year ago
Ya it's a good thread I will keep it going with a question than I guess

What club did Messi play for before he moved to Barca at the age of 14?
Tony 1 year ago
Espanyol juniors? .... Lol
Peteko 1 year ago
I googled this so it does not count
Barca7 (Barcelona) 3 years ago
The red devils my turn. What happened when messi scores with a header against man united in the champions league final 09?
