Ok I did a bit of research and now I know, but I won't say until so Tony can reveal the answer tomorrow, I definitely seen it say on Wiki that Rangers were the first British team to reach a European final though, I'm off to check that out again now!
Your correct, it was glentoran winning the vienna cup, which was the forerunner to the european cup, which is now what we all know as the champions league. There were only 4 teams involved in the compo, and glentoran from belfast won it. Nice bit of research barcashow
They {glentoran}, were also the only team in the british isles with 3 registered club colours, red/green/black. All other clubs in britain only had one colour, like liverpool {red}, or teams like man utd who were {red and white} Even clubs synonimous with having 3 colours, didn't have.... Ie:, rangers red/white/blue.... Which is wrong, its blue/white. Just thought I would throw that one into the mix barcashow.... Lol Another useless bit of info
That is pretty cool stuff. Off the top of my head I can't think of any other teams with 3 different colours. Brazil is the only one which kind of pops to my mind but the green is always just a tertiary colour compared to the yellow and blue
Hum some kind of journeyman striker. I would have to guess Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ajax, Juve, Inter, Barca and Milan, nice one though Jesuriya, this one is tough, don't know if Ibra is right
1.) 1971 I believe it was against Panathiniakos, they won two more after that one Cruijff, Neeskens, and Rep up top, defenses must have been terrified haha
2.) hum this one I am not so confident on, maybe Cristiano Ronaldo? But he was young when he was bought and somewhat unproven. Eric Cantona, Dimitar Berbatov, Edwin Van der Sar?
3.)no idea but I will take a classic one and say crown paints haha
Donchad got #1 right, although I must say it wasn't the hardest question ever haha. On # 2 Rockerr and GreatScot both got 3 out of 4, Juan Sebastian Veron was the one you both missed. With Ferdinand, Rooney, and Berbatov being the others.
I didn't really expect anyone to get #3 It was Hewlett Packard (or HP electronics)
Haha the easy one is still pretty difficult, the hint I will give is that he is not British and has scored a goal in the past two world cups.
The second is really quite difficult so I will give a big hint, and say it is low, he more than doubled this tally in the champions league alone his next season
The first one is Clint Dempsey and the second one was a little ridiculous I realize haha, he scored 2 goals, than scored 4 in the champions league his next season. Really like both these players though
Neither. I must say though, Crespo's a decent guess, the man has scored a slew of headed goals in his prime time, but the mind you, we are talking only about the last five seasons!
I have seen many times his shots on goals hitting the goal post and bouncing back.... So it is exciting to watch him play Lol.... But I really din't know that he scored the most number of headed goals
Ya you get a point for that one, he did pass Inzaghi in "CL" goals, but there was another European legend and World cup winner who he surpassed in European goals. This guy played before it was called the champions league
This one was a cool one GreatScot I enjoyed it, really illustrates the dominance of the Glasgow teams just curious, has anyone one else besides Celtic or Rangers won the Scottish cup recently?
Yeah Dundee Utd won it season before last against Ross County in the final, a couple of season's before that Hearts beat Gretna(who are now bust) in the final! Cup competitions always throw up a surprise every now and again!
Haha nice GreatScot on the Messiah game me a chuckle. If anyone is curious about the Messi one I posted, his boyhood club was Newell's Old boys. Cheers
