The fixtures are:

Republic of Ireland vs. France

Portugal vs. Bosnia-Herzegovina

Greece vs. Ukraine

Russia vs. Slovenia

What are your ideas on how the matches are going to turn out?

Republic of Ireland 2-3 France - frances stars will carry them through.

Portugal 4-2 Bosnia-Herzegovina -same as france, the bigger name players will give portugal that advantage.

Greece 2-2 Ukraine -normal time won't be able to seperate them

Russia 3-1 Slovenia - magic Guus will be the knight in shinning armour for russia

I hope there will be some good results.

Predictions:

Republic of Ireland 2-5 France
I have a feeling they will just be overpowered in the end. They have been brilliant throughout the whole of qualifying but based on the ranks I think France might have an easy edge and win over the Eire.

Portugal 1-1 Bosnia a. E. T (4-2 p. S. Oh)
It is hard to predict a final score, and then the final result from the shootout. It will be an incredibly tough match. I think Bosnia have a great chance but Portugal will be one of the toughest teams to go against in the play-offs and Bosnia have been playing brill. But in history Portugal are very, very good at both saving and scoring penalties so I think the result will go Portugals way in the end. Just!

Greece 0-1 Ukraine
Greece are known for their surprising wins and brilliant play when it matters, but Ukraine are getting better every day and I think they may just scrape out a goal to secure a place in the World Cup for this one.

Russia 4-0 Slovenia
The Russians have been poor for a period and the Slovenians have been excellent but overall, the Green team won't be able to get even a goal out of this as Arshavin and the crew will beat 'em down and score a place in the World Cup next year.

Just the 1st leg:

Republic of Ireland - France: 1-1
Ireland hasn't lost any match so far, it's a tough side and Dublin's atmosphere will be a plus. But I think France will resist thanks to its better quality.
It will be a bit like Ireland-Italy 2-2, with Italy playing and Ireland suddenly scoring.

Portugal - Bosnia: 1-2
This according to me will be the real surprise. Bosnia is a superior team and will drive overrated Portuguese crazy.

Greece - Ukraine: 0-2
Russia - Slovenia: 2-0
No big surprises from those matches

I think there are some really exciting match ups for the playoffs.

Portugal - Bosnia will be great. I think that Bosnia are very capable of winning.
Firstly because they will play the first leg at home, so there will be lots of support, but secondly because they are really a quality side. They are very underrated.
I think they may create the surprise and make it through to the WC.

Russia - Slovenia will also be quit interesting. I think Russia has one of the best Managers in the world at the moment, and have some great players. However, Slovenia is also very good. To have qualified for the playoffs in front of Czech Republic, Poland, and Northern Ireland is a very big accomplishment. They will have nothing to lose, and will go into these two matches attacking all the way. They have a great goalkeeper, and a solid defence, so Russia will struggle against them.
I think in the end, Russia will go through on a score of 3-2 aggregate

I think although my teams are in their they love to choke when it counts, haha or so it seams. I will still be supporting them in colors on the days, screaming.

First Leg,

Greece 1 - 3 Ukraine. Greece will score first, then Ukraine will even in the first half, go ahead in the second, and score a late goal to secure the victory, their stars will come through in their dying moments.

Republic of Ireland 3 - 1 France. ROI will shock France in the first half with an early goal and catch them off guard. Score another in the same half late. France will pick up its heels to counter and in the second half they will score, but ROI wll score shortly after securing their victory.

Portugal 1 - 1 Bosnia. Portugal will go down a goal half way through the first half and play rubbish the entire match until someone pot a goal late in the match. Normal time will not tell, because as we know Portugal choke when it counts and squeeze through.

Russia 3 - 0(1) Slovakia. Russia will dominate this game start to finish, could have a slip up with an "own goal" situation or a late consolation strike but I have a feeling they will be on form when Slovakia come knocking.

I like making specific predictions, get everyones blood curdling and what would football be without a little risk.

I think we all know that the teams hat went on deserved to go on, (except france). Who else here thinks that the france vs ireland 2nd leg was ended very badly. Henry caught the ball from going out of bounds with his hand, and then produced a cross of which they scored on. In my opinion ireland should be going, or at least they should have another game to decide it all what do you guys think?
