Sporza (our sports' television channel) held a year-long competition amongst professionals to hit the bar 5 times with a football from the edge of the box as fast as possible. The record holder was a goalkeeper (Glenn Verbauwhede) with an incredible time of 20"76. He hit 5 of of the 6 balls directly against the crossbar.
A former Belgian striker (Eric Lambert, 50 years the senior of Verbauwhede) agreed to accept the challenge on his his grandson's request and after a wee bit of practicing, he did this:
Translation (even for people who speak Dutch, this dialect is almost incomprehensible) is: "So, are you ready, can we start? All right. My name is Erik Lambert, I'm 75 years old, I played for the buffalo's of KAA Ghent for 11 years. I read in the newspapers and in fact I saw that Glenn Verbauwhede hit the crossbar five times with six balls, which is a lot, but I'm going to try to improve that. Or at least try to do the same. I hope I'll succeed today. I'm gonna' try! Let's go!"
After hitting the second ball on the crossbar, he already says "Not bad eh?" which only makes his efforts more remarkable, considering he hit the bar three more successive times
