Right now, beginning of the season I'd say :

- Silva

Not many matches played though so we'll see if this holds up

#1 David Silva....
And his ability to make a pass that nobody else could see. Not olny msking the pass but making the pass w/ the right pace and placement. Also his skill on the ball. He his trick and flicks are impossible to stop. The perfect creative midfeilder.

#2 Lionel Messi....
Is a great dribbler, but still a great playmaker. Many people will disagree w/ me but Messi's dribbling skills open passes up. When he beats somebody on the wing cuts inside and plays a diagonal ball to the likes David Villa or Pedro is something nobody else can do.

#3 Xavi....
Is a world-class leader. His simple ability to control the pitch w/ his leadership and vision makes him one of the best.

#4 Anres Iniesta....
And the way he does unexpected things, like winning the world cup. He never needs attenion like ballotelli. Doesn't need to be under spotlight, although, he still often shines. When Andres gets the ball he may play the ball simply or he may make a quick run into the box. The way he can breakdown deffences with a quick dribble and pass is remarkable.

#5 Cristiano Ronaldo....
Although you will never hear me say 'I like ronaldo', I don't like the way he lays on the ground waiting for the ref to give mercy, and I hate his club team(go barca), nobody can say he is not one of the worlds best. His ability to 1v1 down the line creating oppertunities is good. His shot also makes him dangerous anywhere around the box. Defenders have to play tight on him because of his shot making through balls more available. The way he crafts passes w/ his feet make him fifth on my list. Although, Ronaldo is 5th on this list many other players would pass him on a 'worlds best' list.

Almost in the list....
Cesc Fabregasc
Wesley Sneijder
Nasri
Xabi Alonso

Others I disagree with
Ozil
Lampard
Kaka'

Note:this list is based over the last 6 months, many players such as lampard, gerrard, and kaka were all great in their primes but time has past

I'll make a new list since it's been a while since I last made one. This is based on current form.
5. Cesc Fabregas (Barcelona): Although I have not watched him play as often as I used to since his move to Barcelona. A quality midfielder with great passing ability and vision and can find open team-mates anywhere on the pitch.
4. David Silva (Manchester City): He's got amazing vision and great ball skills making him one of the best midfielders in the EPL
3. Andres Iniesta (Barcelona): With great dribbling and passing skills, Iniesta forms one half of arguable the world's best central midfielder pairing.
2. Xavi (Barcelona): The other half of the dynamic duo, with perfect vision Xavi is undoubtedly one of the world's finest play makers who can set up his team-mates for goals better than anyone else. His partnership with Iniesta was a major reason why Barcelona have been so successful in recent years.
1. Lionel Messi (Barcelona): With top class dribbling ability, speed, the ability to set up goals for his team-mates and himself it's not hard to see why Messi is one of the world's best players. Although his play maker status has been often debated about by many, I believe Messi contributes much more to the team than just goals and deserves to be at the top of this list.

Honorable Mentions
Wesley Sneidjer (Inter Milan)
Mesut Ozil (Real Madrid)
Samir Nasri (Manchester City)

And before anyone asks about Ronaldo I don't consider him to be a play-maker.
